In 1973 and 74 we had a rifle club at our high school. We would go out to our cars, or locker if you rode the bus, and bring our guns down to the basement where there was a full feature shooting range. One girl had a Nylon 66 and I was really impressed. She never had a failure ever. I wanted one so bad! Another great Kristin video to start my day!
I have the mohawk brown 66 I carried back in high school the fall of 1974. This rifle just keeps shooting. Back in 1964 my dad taught me to shoot on a Seneca green model. As a boy I idolized these rifles.
I still own my Remington Nylon 66 mag fed rifle. It was a Christmas present from my father at age 14 (I’m 62 now). Brown wood grain. My brother in law still has his tube fed Mohawk.

For a gun made from cheap materials, is built well, and shoots great.....i like the lever action one too !
I have one exactly like you have here. I inherited it from my dad, I had no idea they were worth so much money! I took it out shooting the other day, it still shoots perfectly! It's not going anywhere except to the range with me!
I have a green Apache 77 with nylon stock and it is clip fed (magazine) with 10 rounds each. I ordered 5 more along with sling swivels for the order form included with the rifle when I bought it new in 1978 at K-Mart. I think it cost $79.99. I taped two mags together so I can shoot 60 times without reloading a mag. I call it my mini- M-16. Cheers from eastern TN
Tom Frye used four Nylon 66 rifles and more than 100,000 rounds of Remington Golden Bullet .22 LR ammunition. Several newspapers and sporting magazines circulated articles about Frye's endurance shooting record, some calling him "the greatest shot with a .22 who ever lived."
Late seventies, my brothers and cousins bought 10/22s. I had a Glenfield 60. Our buddy Marty bought a Nylon 66. I don’t know about the rest of the guys but I that the 66 was the coolest thing out there….until I used the money I received from HS graduation to buy a Marlin 39A. I still talked Marty into letting me shoot his 66 from time to time…
I bought a brown one new in 1986. So accurate. I do believe, if TSHF, this maybe be the one to grab running out the door. Never a jam or miss fire and the 22lr ammo is light. You could carry a thousand rounds. Loved this video with the exception, at the end, She referred to it as a plastic gun. It's not plastic, It's nylon.
Fun light and reliable. Never had any feed problem. The gas system or spring I forget did have to be fixed and they did it perfectly. $99. Could have went to Kmart and got a 10/22 for 139. I'm glad I didn't. Those are a slippery slope with all the accessories.
Parent bought me the Apache Black Nylon for Christmas in the 60`s. My brother West Point pistol coach Sgt. Robert recommended the rifle, only used it a few times and doesn`t have a scratch on it. Oh Hell, I`m 70y/o now.
I have my Mohawk Brown purchased new in 1978 and I cherish it. You can carry it all day in the field shooting rabbits and squirrels because it is so light.
My Dad got me one as my first gun. I was 15. When I first saw it, I wasnted one so bad. Man! I love that old thing! Killed so many critters on the farm and around the fruited plain. I'm deadly with it.
....I have 3 .22 rifles....A Mossberg US44 , an Ithaca saddlegun lever action repeater and my black Nylon 66....I wouldn't give up any one of them for anything 'modern' ( my brother has my Cooey repeater)
I have two of the nylon 66 in brown they both need barrels but I can't find any available in Canada any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance. 😊
I've got a black one, shoots fine, but the plastic underneath the front of barrel is broken off 3" or more. How can I repair that ? The broken plastic that's gone I don't have .
These should still be here today but people in Ilion not so smart and look where they are today? The loading from the buttstock is perfect for safety as to keep the muzzle pointed safely. I have two and from Herkimer county.
I traded for a couple rifles about 35 years ago. One rifle was a nylon 66 with a color which wasn`t very appealing to me. It looked like brown from one angle but with a hint of green. Weird. I since understand that it`s called Seneca green and is rather uncommon. I still have it and guess I`ll hang onto it.
These guns shoot so damn good

nowadays, even mentioning this idea to anyone at a school, everyone would go crazy!
I would've loved a gun club at school.
The good ol' days when you could get your underwear, guns, a radio and ground beef all in the same spot.
I inherited a Seneca Green that my Grandad bought in 1959. With a scope, I put a hole in a dime at 10 yards. Still have both.

Now, I need Apache Black, too! That polished silver receiver cover looks great.
Love your enthusiastic reviews!

Had to laugh, did the same with my mags. Got mine in 1972, still shoots as good today.
Nice.

This is one of the best underrated home defense guns ever. Wifie & kiddies can handle it.
My granddaddy gave me one for christmas. Man I wish I still had it.
what happened to it?
@marc726 It's been so long I don't remember like 55 years long

I have recently acquired one of these in 22 shorts only. Known as the gallery special. It's an awesome little rifle.

I have a first year production 1959 Mohawk Brown in really great condition.
I have an 80's made Mohawk brown .. still shoot it and it's still flawless and fun ...
Great guns! Only downside are the clip fed versions. The clips are also nylon, but wear out quickly.

I've got one for over 50 years, never had a jam nor a malfunction
I had one just like it when l was a kid. Wish l still had it.

Is that a vintage Weaver .22 tipoff scope mount w/ scope or a Weaver side mount?

I have the Apache 77 with the ten round mag, jamo-matic
Thanks for this comment. Gunna steer clear

Love those old Nylons.
I have one apache green Seneca 77 with two magazines ...
I want to buy Remington Model 66 Inner Magazine Tube Assembly
Not so inexpensive nowadays.
Right?
@@GUNS-GDC A 76 lever in chrome and black went for over $5K on GB recently. Glad I started collecting them in the 70's.....
The butt load one's were great but clip one's were junk would jam all the time.
That's not correct, have the magazine model since 1972, no jams or misfires.
Bought one at an estate sale paid $50.00
I bought a green K-Mart in 88-89 and hocked it a few years later to buy booze. 😩#Regrets

I don't love the black one's. Much prefer the brown ones.
Just don't shoot Stingers, they melt into the breach!
