As a tamil indian im surprised to see someone wearing lehenga for a tamil wedding because they usually wear sarees. But its great to see a change in culture so go for it!!
@@abhaysinhzala8921 for engagement we wear saree only.Lehenga will be worn in wedding reception(now a days, cos in tamil culture we don't have concept of lehenga but we have half saree which should be worn during a ceremony when girl comes of age.this function is a big deal here and the girl will be having a lavish function like quincinera) but 99% of them will wear kanchipuram(mostly) silk saree which will be bought by groom's family(in most famili\es)
Tbh this is kinda controversial. It feels like North Indian culture is now invading the South Indian style maybe due to influence of Bollywood celebs.. which is kinda sad... I really wish people open ther eyes and try to celebrate their own rich culture
My marriage was this February, and i wore a lehenga and a pink ball gown for the reception and engagement. As it was not a very popular idea in Tamil Kalyanams, I was quite worried about how it would be received by the attendees. I was lucky as most of them went to sleep around the time I wore it, and my husband didn't mind what I wore. As a fellow Chennaite moving to the US with my husband soon, I was very happy when I recognised the shops you visited! Thank you for all the memories of the pre wedding hype from January. 😂🎉❤
so happy it worked out but that makes me a bit sad to hear, it’s your wedding you shouldnt be worrying about how your guests perceive or judge anything! u should wear what you want on your (and your love’s) day
But I still don't understand the hype around lehengas for South Indians.. people from various regions are trying their best to celebrate their rich culture which is amazing. I understand u love it and all... But isn't the half saree worn by South Indians the same as lehengas but with a saree kinda design...? Like is this coming from the influence of Bollywood celebs or..? Why u guys giving up your culture like this...?
After seeing this video I realized even the small local stores in India have far better designs than this entire shop and that also for less than 200 dollars.
I had commented on ur videos that fashion is better in india. Happy to see u shop in India. Try western fashion as well in India if you can. There are too many options and also the salons in India ( good posh ones ) are way better
I am an Indian and I am tamil and u know what I found the place where u are shopping. Its actually T Nagar which is a popular place for buying stuff in Chennai
Go with the simplest minimal silver jewellery so that the lehenga gets the attraction more , also the lehenga is too bright and beautiful if u put more bright jewellery and big jewellery then it wouldn't suit So my wish is that u choose some minimal jewellery for grand clothes Btw the lehenga is really really beautiful ✨❤
You are Iyer right?? Isaw you granddad wearing punal that's why i asked. But south Indian brides wear traditional kancheevaram sarees rather than lehnga. You looked stunning In the that temple video of yours. You were wearing saree that day.Literally you were looking like agmark south indian chick☺️💗
Don't get me wrong... But why are South Indians opting for lehengas in the first place ? Don't you guys have such beautiful half sarees ? Why give up on your culture like this ? Due to the influence from the Bollywood celebs ?
Problem with doing this, is that you'll outgrow your taste, my pinterest wedding board has evolved over 7 years and my taste changed yearly. So what you like now might not be what you like by the time you're engaged, also when you look at a dress all the time, you get used to it and it doesnt wow you that much
I was surprised too when she got a lehenga. But since she's American brought up, aunties for bug her that bad. A frnd of mine who is an American raised Indian wore lehenga to a function where everyone was told to wear a saree. She was like saree is too difficult. And she wasn't questioned much coz she's American raised

@@ElizabethDiana-fj1en oh come on! We aren't giving up on any culture.... I mean wearing a lehenga doesn't mean I am giving up on my culture! We indians love our clothing and we take so much pride in it! I am from kanchipuram and I always love to wear a pattu half saree/saree for any auspicious occasion or a wedding, that doesn't mean i dont like a tee and jean for office. We love dresses from all over india !be it patiala Salwars from punjab or a ghagra from rajasthan we love and respect all cultures equally. We are not easily influenced by bollywood as you stated but we love to experiment a lot.a lehenga consists of a blouse,a skirt and a dupatta so does a half saree!it is all in the drapes...... I am not blaming you for anything but your ideology is wrong.
@@Sandhyavijayasayee tbh i have not seen North Indians wear your guy's half saree and all. And not gonna lie, from the outside many of the south Indian weddings showcase lehengas and ghagras. I have not seen even one north Indian wedding with any attire belonging to south India. Correct me if I'm wrong but I have personally only seen two actresses predominantly working in the north industry wear the south Indian half saree, their mom was a famous actress in the south. This is just my observation on looking at your whole country.
@@ElizabethDiana-fj1en even we don't watch that much bollywood🤣🤣🤣🤣 ok to put it this way tamilian dresses is of different types according to a girl's age! Pattu pavadai chattai is a garment which consists of a skirt and top.this is worn till a girl is of age.then comes half saree!when a girl started mensturating 3rd month from that day we will have a half saree ceremony/puberty function. This is like a ceremony to celebrate the girl to woman transformation. Then once engaged a girl will wear a saree for that ceremony. Till that day she wears half saree for almost all ceremonies. Then comes wedding reception were the bride choose her dress. It might be saree/ghagra/half saree(mostly not worn cos it is for teen/adolescent stage) or even a princess gown now a days.then for her marriage it is saree only(each saree represents her caste/state it is different for everyone). So hope you understand now.
I mean we are not represented well to outside world .people still think indian food as only chicken tikka masala and naan .But we do have idly dosa poori puttu etc. Same goes for dresses too.if you want to know about south indian weddings there are like zillion ceremonies for us and lehenga is worn for only one! We wear saree for others......

It was Mohe, it’s like the female chain for manyavaar
Sahana these look beautiful! However I want to ask, why not a saree? Isn’t that the true traditional wear??
lehengas are superior
I will definitely wear a sari on my actual wedding :!
Its normal to wear saree on wedding day and lehengas on other days..
