    That looks like abuse, not use, still I can't believe the condition of that board, I own this amp and a deluxe, I had to recap and add new resistors on both. The boards in both amps are a pretty shade of dark brown, the deluxe board bailey survived.

    Why are the fender "Ultra Linear" amplifier better at having less ripple and power tube biasing? The Ultra Linear did something to the power tubes impedances with the output transformer impedances, correct me if I'm wrong

      The screen grids were connected to taps on the output transformer, which gave them a blend between pentode and triode operation. Basically tried to get the low distortion of triode operation along with the high output of pentode. The tubes were biased according to the tube manufacturers’ specs as usual.

      @@thatampguy The Ultra Linear Transformers were custom made with more TAPS plus had a more windings for high headroom? I think the reservoir capacitors went from 30ufs to 50ufs to have less ripple for the Ultra linear. When using an oscilloscope and measuring the AC signal of the output tubes on the plates I can't tell the difference of the AC signal if its an Ultra linear signal or not, any tips on how you can tell? to me it just looks like a normal stock AC signal 1Khz function generator just more headroom peak to peak maybe less distortion its hard to tell.

      @waynegram8907 the taps allow the screen grids to be run in a quasi-triode/pentode state to increase headroom. The signal will still look like the signal at the plates. What you’ll hopefully not see is any clipping of the upper or lower peaks at a volume comparable to its black or silverface stablemates.
