Sort of like Tron or The Matrix? In actuality it's more like really fast flashing light code pasterns in wavelengths your eyes can't see - think ships at night using lanterns to signal each other 150 years ago, if the lanterns could also "see," only much, much faster flashing codes. The "light" itself is much lower resolution though and passes through more things, being longer wavelengths than what we see, so it wouldn't look quite the same in the way it illuminates things, if we could see it. For example, a wooden bookshelf and the books on it might look blurry and like they were made out of mostly clear frosted glass, plastic bags and most clothing would be essentially invisible except maybe seen a little along the edge, and people would look more like fuzzy shadow blobs, only they'd likely be glowing a bit as well from the EMR of the heat of their bodies, like infrared but a lower energy wavelength. Even the night sky from the darkness of the depths of space itself would be faintly glowing a little bit from the cosmic microwave background radiation, if our eyes were sensitive enough to see it.

Wow - these videos are so informative. I'm a senior developer and know most of this stuff but it's not tedious like some videos can seem of this nature. It's presented so well that I find I am bookmarking the Android Authority website and this UA-cam URL for solidifying stuff.
Me as a 15 year old rooted my phone and always was playing with people around me. I could check their history and data and also redirect them. One time my friend pissed me off so I turned his internet down while he was playing weekend league at fifa during a important game. Tech is fun, keep up!
Google Alo is for sure using https for message encryption. What you mentioned that whatsup is doing is called: end-to-end encryption and this is even more secure because not even server can decrypt your messages.
Connecting to a "secure" non-free non-public wifi doesn't mean you're safe though. I think it's not made clear on this video, problem is not the public free wifi networks, but non encrypted connections. So regardless the state of the wifi network same rules apply; you should always keep an eye of the green https icon lock on your browser.
So guys, if I use a regular ELITE proxy the data packets could still be sniffed but when I use an SSL encrypted HTTPS proxy I can be protected? VPN and TOR is still better but I just want to be sure.
ok "trust" was a rather misleading term... i meant he made me lose faith in them. i used to think that i could use a public wifi if i ever found myself in a tight spot, but now i know better
That's the point of the video. To make you aware of things you don't know and take steps to prevent those type of stuff from happening to you or at least make you safer.
This is really scary when you think about it. Who doesn't rejoice when in need of WiFi to update their Google Maps, or upload something to an online account, or check their bank statements, to find a free and open WiFi hotspot. We often connect to these second nature and without a notion of where is all this data going. Of course with the advent of social media and mass data collection, this seems a bit daunting.
The thing to realize about monitor mode is that unlike promiscuous mode it is exclusive of managed mode, meaning that you cannot make connections to WiFi networks, hence any data on a secured network will be encrypted. That presents an additional hurdle, so you can't simply listen for any URLs, IP addresses, or anything.
If I'm not wrong, that dialogue is originally from an old hacker movie or something, so you gotta give props to the dialogue writer if that movie instead.

man it's crazy but it's actually an illusion when you focus on your face. at one stage I was staring in the middle of my screen and it looked like you just came out of the monitor something like a HUD display. Could be just me and my setup but I liked it!
Also, HTTPS isn't a panacea, either. Even that can be vulnerable to downgrade and cookie stealing attacks (especially in open Wi-Fi), which is why HSTS was created. Also, Allo *is* encrypted, just not end-to-end by default. Big difference. Google still gets to see your chat history, but any other passive snooper is unlikely to.
Mike Trieu lol I was thinking the same thing with the hoodie and baseball cap. If anything it makes it look like he's just some googling script kiddie trying to look cool to ppl who have no idea
Mike Trieu Don't worry it's not an offense. (Offense, also a french world) Cliché is a french world, entierly, not based on a french word but actually a french world that mean exactely the same thing you say in english. Second, the Deutsch do not have really similar point with Latin langages BUT => English isn't just Deutsch but also Latin langage," computer" came from ''computare'' (calculating in Latin) Third : The United Kingdom was speaking french for many many years, and the British cultur appair in opposition of French Culture :)
I use Googles VPN luckily :) also my android phone doubles as a live boot disk for a few tools. one is Kali for fixing people's windows PCs and security stuff, also a tool that allows me to break into windows and Mac devices for people who need me to reset their device passwords. phones are so useful these days. especially androids :)
This is the reason I look at data limits on cell phone plans with annoyance, and the reason I have one of the only carriers in the US that does offer such a plan, and obviously, I have an unlimited plan with them, and only connect to Wifi at home or at work. Sometimes I will at someone's house with their password, but I don't use unsecured wifi, ever.
If you're connected to somebody else's network and use a VPN... they can't sniff your communications, but they can still nmap your actual phone and stuff.
On Android you can use the open-source Netguard app that acts like a local VPN and let's you see, allow or deny any internet access from any app. You can easily see whether apps use SSL or not to communicate.
hjchamp04 this might be a good idea if your a hermit never leaving your house or your not afraid of going over your data limit. So long as you think about what your looking at or sending is nothing that could be used by a hacker than let he/she hack away. Cause a smart person knows what apps and websites they should avoid when on an open network.
This is great information, because I wasn't sure if I was still compromised on an unencrypted WI-FI connection even though the web site itself is encrypted.
NSA can't hack AES or Telegram/Signal messages (yet) -- they'd need to get into your phone to decrypt, but they _have_ bypassed TLS and SSL. Sweet dreams.
Gary Sims I'm pretty sure Google Allo encrypts the communication between your phone and their server. What Google meant is that messages are not encrypted on their server since they read them to improve their machine learning algorithms. As opposed to whatsapp who claim they don't have access to the content of your messages.
It still likely won't matter that the data is encrypted. There are free programs available that will run 100's of algorithms common and uncommon for web security to dehash the encryption.
It's easy to avoid getting hacked in public. Just look out for anyone wearing a hoodie while using his computer. He's obviously the bad guy.
And run away from him fast
Or use a VPN and a firewall...
[LORD DAN THE GREAT]
Firewall doesn't help..

no, vpn is enabled after you leave your gateway (gateway is yours or the public router that you connect to). Let me explain:
Normal connection:
You ----> Gateway -----> Internet -----> Website/Service
Using a VPN:
You ----> Gateway -----> VPN -------> Internet -----> Website/Service
Here you can see that after you leave your gateway, the VPN kicks in and hides your internet activity. If someone is trying to see where you're sending requests, instead of youtube theyd see your vpn's IP.
Now the MITM attack on a maccas/starbucks wi-fi:
You ------> Attacker -------> Gateway -------> VPN -------> Internet -----> Website/Service
This happens because the attacker is on the same network as you so he is using the same gateway. This means that you're vulnerable to any activity performed on that local network.

Gary teaching normies how to do skid things. Definitely overqualified for this channel, don't know if the owner of the channel knows how much info this guy is dropping to the demographic targeted. Keep it up Gary, people should know this stuff by now but that's not the case. With stuff like SSLKiller and what not, no one is safe.
Thank you very much, that was very informative and you nailed it on the delivery.. thumps up for you my man... looking forward for more from you...
7:06 Look at most of the top sites...

Thanks, I made it myself. I took a long exposure of an LED light strip with a shallow depth of field and moved the camera around while the shutter was open. I then converted into black & white on my PC.
man it's crazy but it's actually an illusion when you focus on your face. at one stage I was staring in the middle of my screen and it looked like you just came out of the monitor something like a HUD display. Could be just me and my setup but I liked it!
Excellent, Gary. I’m new to hacking/pen- testing and this is a clear and informative video. Much appreciated.
Android Authority: *Uses Apple in the thumbnail*
He is using kali linux in virtual machine and mac works with other operating systems
actually he installed linux into macbook.
@@muhammaduzair5106 mac sucks :D
Macbook is unhackable but hacks other devices easily.
Really, Gary, a hoodie *and* a baseball cap? How cliché can you get? This is like Watchdogs level cheeseball.
Cliché is a French word, poor poor english
Sarah Connorh Really? American "english" (nay, most modern languages) uses loaner words from other languages all the time. It's hardly "poor english".
Mike Trieu Don't worry it's not an offense. (Offense, also a french world)
Cliché is a french world, entierly, not based on a french word but actually a french world that mean exactely the same thing you say in english.
Second, the Deutsch do not have really similar point with Latin langages BUT => English isn't just Deutsch but also Latin langage," computer" came from ''computare'' (calculating in Latin)
Third : The United Kingdom was speaking french for many many years, and the British cultur appair in opposition of French Culture :)
Why is Gary in Coresi Mall from Brasov-Romania ?
I use Googles VPN luckily :) also my android phone doubles as a live boot disk for a few tools. one is Kali for fixing people's windows PCs and security stuff, also a tool that allows me to break into windows and Mac devices for people who need me to reset their device passwords. phones are so useful these days. especially androids :)
I've tried dual booting Kali on a phone and it has never worked for me, are you using the full kali or kali nethunter?
Meat dress I'm using full Kali. and I don't boot it on my phone. I use an app that turns partitions on my phone into bootable flash storage.
hello bro love to learn how that works
konboot? ;)
Oh gad, Tai Lopez ads are back
Soleimsen they are???
Please say it's not so!
PNathan Yeah...
Ben nooooooooooo!!
You owned me bro!
You're explanation was really GREAT and I hope if you show us how to do it in real.
Thank you!
This is the reason I look at data limits on cell phone plans with annoyance, and the reason I have one of the only carriers in the US that does offer such a plan, and obviously, I have an unlimited plan with them, and only connect to Wifi at home or at work. Sometimes I will at someone's house with their password, but I don't use unsecured wifi, ever.
or just use a VPN?
If you're connected to somebody else's network and use a VPN... they can't sniff your communications, but they can still nmap your actual phone and stuff.
compactc9 in finland you can get unlimited 4g for about 20 € a month with speeds up to and over 100mb/s
Usually the best I get is 30-50mb/s but in most cases this is faster than whatever public wifi is being offered.
Lmao my computer science teacher taught us how to do a SQL injection today 😹😹
Waaaaaaatttttt
I got Kali Linux and the dongle but noting is working do you suggest me to buy a white/gray/black or red hat or just a hoodie should be enough ?
Watch_Dogs_3 with Gary......
"I'm in!"
On Android you can use the open-source Netguard app that acts like a local VPN and let's you see, allow or deny any internet access from any app. You can easily see whether apps use SSL or not to communicate.
don't get on open networks. the end.
hjchamp04 this might be a good idea if your a hermit never leaving your house or your not afraid of going over your data limit. So long as you think about what your looking at or sending is nothing that could be used by a hacker than let he/she hack away. Cause a smart person knows what apps and websites they should avoid when on an open network.
eastender74 Non-hermit? Use your own data.
hjchamp04 Err no. Only use encrypted sites, use a secure vpn. Lots of great ways to safely use open networks.
being in linux
unlimited 4g LTE data plan is the answer and you won't need to rely on other people's Wi-Fi. I just tether my phones data to my laptop if needed.
I usually use a VPN or SSH tunnel when on a public wifi.
Which VPN?
This is great information, because I wasn't sure if I was still compromised on an unencrypted WI-FI connection even though the web site itself is encrypted.
Imagine the hacking power he would get with a balaclava
I found it funny.
NSA can't hack AES or Telegram/Signal messages (yet) -- they'd need to get into your phone to decrypt, but they _have_ bypassed TLS and SSL. Sweet dreams.
Imagine you connect to public wifi and see him on his laptop in a hoodie
ive been doing this for years, esp at the malls then selling all data to nsa
So VPN solves all my problems on public wifi?
Not if the VPN is corrupted itself lol. Which is the case in most free VPNs
lorem ipsum Did i say a free VPN?
I have a paid subscription
@@Ri9e but you didn't say you have a paid one too

Please can you specify which version of TP TL-WN722N wifi adapter is suitable? V1, V2, or V3?
only v1
Make a tutorial and a video on how to prevent it from happening for oneself :D
Use a VPN, I have a video about it on this channel.
Gary, where can you find that list of "secure" Android apps.
It seems EVERYTHING is centered around messaging.
Gary Sims do vpn's cause slow downs?
JRLM Yes, using a VPN will mean your downloads are slower. Please checkout my review of ExpressVPN to get a see if it is noticeable.
Gary Sims I'm pretty sure Google Allo encrypts the communication between your phone and their server. What Google meant is that messages are not encrypted on their server since they read them to improve their machine learning algorithms. As opposed to whatsapp who claim they don't have access to the content of your messages.
Still wonder why everyone mixes up cracking and hacking
They’re not the same thing
Still wondering why everyone mixes up there and they're. They are not the same thing. :)
😂😂😂lol
Is it possible to use the TP wifi usb on a android device and a app for virutual Linux?
Is the hardware all on the Usb
Hacking starter kit
1. Kali linux
2. Terminal
3. Black hoodie
4. Cool music
The easiest way is to just get a rogue ap though
It still likely won't matter that the data is encrypted. There are free programs available that will run 100's of algorithms common and uncommon for web security to dehash the encryption.
Why is he using mac when the channel is called Android Authority
It's not like there's Android laptops
LucasFray But it's a Mac.
dmdport he's using Linux. android runs Linux, so there's a correlation.
LucasAndAGuitar But it's a Mac. Why get a Mac if your just going to rip out iOS.

anyone watching this on public WiFi?
