As an owner, I can assure you that the next car on your wish-list needs to be a B5 Touring. It's a very different sort of car from an M5 and I suspect few people would be deciding between the two. I personally think the gearbox calibration is one of the best things about an Alpina. I'd say that it's tuned for comfort, but on the road it works perfectly with the low-down torque to ensure you're always in the right gear whether it's to overtake slower traffic or to accelerate between corners. Combined with the suspension tuning it makes for a car which can cover ground at a rapid pace, whilst your passengers sit relaxed & in comfort thinking you're going a lot slower than you are. On a German autobahn that could be a speed where most other cars have hit their limiters. It's probably closer to a Bentley in the way it drives (or even something like a Wraith) than an M5, but a lot more discrete.
I too own a G31 B5 here in the UK. I'd agree with your comments above Andrew. It's a poor mans Bentley. These things are built to cross continents at high speed and in great comfort. The joy of my B5 is I can put a fridge or a sofa or even a couple of bicycles in the back!
After endless hours of auto research on Motoman’s channel I have come to the conclusion that I need to order a 1SS 1LE with the manual of course. All of this German refinement is wearing me out and is the wave of the future 😎
@@MotoManTV Hey man I’m in aviation not medicine 😂 No Porsche GT anything’s in my near future. I did love my old ‘85 3.2 though 👍🏻 As a car guy I feel the need to sample the many varieties still available to us before we’re all driving around in big comfy golf carts.
Loved the review! My 2021’ M550i is as close as I can get to that glorious machine you’re reviewing Motoman. Amazing vehicle! Every time I get behind the wheel of my M550i it just puts a smile on my face, similar to the smile you had on your face when hitting triple digits 😃
The 550i is awesome. It is a much better value than the Alpina B8 and more practical. It can also blend in more depending on where you live and many people like that sleeper aspect. I prefer it over the M5 as a daily driver.
To my eyes, this is best looking 4 door car in current production. It's gorgeous! This would be my pick is someone told me I will give you any 4 door car.
Alpina cars will not be shipped from Dingolfing. Every Alpina car goes from the factory (in this case Dingolfing) to the Alpina factory in Buchloe and will be finished there. Thatˋs why Alpina is a manufacturer and not a tuner.
For your information >>> BMW Alpina is quite well known in Europe. There are currently 292 on the road in the Netherlands alone. So all over Europe there must be thousands and thousands driving around.
What a car! I commented on your BMW M2 CS review that I wanted to marry the car and have its baby! But now I'm thinking about betraying the beloved M2 and starting an extramarital raffair with this wonderful Alpina B8! And I'm sure I can live with the guilt!
A bit behind the scenes: I had this car when the news came out that Albert Biermann was retiring. I called and extended the loan in order to drown my sorrows out in this lovely thing.
I have to admit that i do like this interpretation of the 8 series. The design of the bumpers and spoilers make it perfect and elegant. Blue or green is really difficult i agree, both amazing colors. For me i am a little disappointed in the engine range Alpina offers since a few years. In the days of the E39 one had many engines to choose from. I would prefer a 6 cylinder over a V8 all day long. A 5 series Alpina with the B58 from the B3 that would be my kind off car 😎 or maybe even the 8 series with that engine.
Happy new year George and all the best for 2022! Can't only get better - and what a great start with a wonderful car - me want. But man is it heavy - but who cares, they are my neighbours (almost) so.....
James Bond should steal one of these and a impromptu getaway that the in cabin video shows him surprisingly enjoying the acceleration and the audio input from the engine that’s only interrupted by bullets shattering glass as we hear the exterior engine exhaust note ripping him through the streets where he nearly escapes the bad guys and the car as it is launched off a cliff. That way at least more than just I can lament over not having one.😏 Seriously if I had a seven digit income this horse would be in my stable. 💯

My 2021 M550i drives in the same manner, ample power/torque, in the lap of luxury
Absolutely the pinnacle for BMW tuning .. so exclusive ! Never mind beautiful !
No tuning, Alpina is a car manufacturer.
A Alpina 5 Series Wagon. Ohhhhhhhhhh yes please !!! Pretty Please 🙏
Such a classy BMW, it's hard to imagine based on their current design language, but Alpina manages to improve it as aways !

I am surprised the answer wasn't a GT3:)

best thing on the road on 4 wheels
Gotta love Alpina. I tip my hat off to Andreas & the team for staying true to their heritage (?) & not going off the rails like Brabus & TechArt did.

Sorry MotoMan but we get the B5 “Estate” in Europe….. I bet you wish it was available in the US??
Maybe show some more of the cars exterior I have to find another video to see what it looks like in a walk around. Other than that A+
The major advantage of the Alpina over the M8 is the sonorous exhaust note. The cross-bank exhaust manifold on the M8 sounds more like a fourpot...
Great vid. Liked and commented for algorithm

great job thanks
One thing I miss from the Alpinas from the 90s is the awesome graphics that they had on the cars... can we get that back as well?
Alpina builds the best cars in the world.
We’ve had B6 and B7 since at least 2014
SO This, or Panamera Turbo S Executive? ( I understand the price difference)

What do you get when you combine Stunning looks, incredible power and great control, A BMW Alpina ! A great value as well around 150,000.00 !
Bring the 3 series version PLEASE !
nice
Really want to get my hands on a B3 wagon!!
I wish they would bring the B3 Touring to the US. I have to settle for 2 vintage Alpina wagons in the US 🙂

I’m getting one and going with the green, beautiful
Motoman, I believe you forgot that we did get an Alpina B6 in the US from 2015-2019
Fave car
This video finally showed up in my suggestions. Just letting you know because I remember you asked.
Hi Landon . . . thanks for the feedback . . . Did you end up unsubscribing and resubscribing or did it just show up all of a sudden?
@@MotoManTV I unsubbed, just as you recommended.
Hand made wheels??
Nice car, nice Socks - great Video! How can you not love MotoMan?
this is a very good car.
Love it
Alpina B8 on the MotomanTV - you know it's going to be great.
Yes toote wagons! Audi RS4 AVANT PLEASE
Good looking car but I still prefer the M6 GC
probably the policy of BMW? prioritize Germany & Japan. there are still plenty in Japan.. B3 is the one, B58 inside!
Send me the Green/saddle B3 wagon please. I would buy it immediately
Get in line:)
Have never understood paying more for a 6 series like this over a 7
2 different driving experiences

$148K I was expecting $180K. Can you please grab a Lucid?? I would really like to hear your take.
Alpina needs to sell the B5 here in America.
B5 Touring is a daily monster. Same goes for B3.

BMW has purchased Alpina and plan to close the factory. The future of Alpina models and support for existing and prospective customers is unknown.
never buy bmw's new. the depreciation is stunning.
This car will be 70K in 3 years lol
Still, the best BMW gran Coupe is the BMW 6er. The 8er is unnecessarily big and bulky in my eyes!
I have a m6 gc comp. But this is the next one I'm getting.
@@felicix Enjoy the ride then :)
if by elegant you mean hideous. bmws haven't looked good for 10 years.
Used Flying Spur greater than Alpina. 🙂
