The guy in the Audi obviously thinks he's got a cool car and can do what he wants. Someone please remind him it's an '06 plate and is probably worth less than a push-bike.
Instead of all the over-reacting here in the comments, it's quite a simple and avoidable situation. If he was "tanking it up your arse" why didn't you just stay in the middle lane - you had ample time between you and the car in front to stay there and avoid the outside lane altogether - just let him "tank it" in that lane. Being in the outside lane isn't justifiable just because you were doing 70mph, it's justifiable by over-taking someone and not being in the way of other, faster moving traffic. Yes, the Audi was a tit by speeding, but you were just as irresponsible in my opinion for putting yourself into the outer lane unnecessarily which is presumably why the Audi driver was pissed off. If I'd have been doing 80mph, which isn't uncommon on the motorways and not an issue to the police, I'd have been pissed off with you too because you had no reason to be in that lane, you had plenty of room to stay in the middle lane.
MrConsiderate Two things. Firstly, you had ample space between you and the car in front, and if you were able to use some form of anticipation in your driving, you would have clearly seen the white car was virtually past the truck and ready to pull back in, meaning you could clearly have remained in the lane you were in. So, zero anticipation from you. Secondly, if you expect anyone to believe the Audi "came from nowhere" then it's you who is stupid or rather blind, you would either have seen him coming, or you chose not to concern yourself with him. If you want to stick to your story, that's fine, but then given the length of road which was available to you we would need to believe the Audi was probably hitting something close to about 150mph to have came upon you in the sudden manner you describe which I think is a little far fetched. A far more believable story would have been to say you say the blue car but didn't realise how fast he was travelling, and I likely would have respected that a great deal more. Finally, believe me, I've travelled up and down many motorway networks at 80mph before, and even overtook traffic cars because other idiots decide to drop their speeds to 65mph, just because a traffic car is ahead, they have not batted an eyelid because I, and others, are travelling safely, respectfully and it's not worth the cops while to try and do anyone for 80mph. Unless excessive speed is a factor, most traffic cops are OK with people travelling faster than the upper speed limit on a motorway as long as they are safe, considerate and respectful. You, on the other hand, would likely have got in the path of a speeding traffic car because if you couldn't see a vivid blue Audi "tanking up your arse" I doubt you would have seen a bright white car with blue lights either travelling at speed.
why would he have to 'wait' for the speeding Audi to pass ? - he had time to establish himself in the outside lane to overtake the slower white car. It's a lane used to overtake slower vehicles, not reserved for speeding cars that might catch you up from hundreds of yards back down the road. If you want to drive at 100mph, then you have to watch out for cars in the lane you are in
Andrew Deighton Personally, I prefer to safeguard my own safety and not rely on others, i.e. the idiot Audi driver, which is why, as I've stated previous, I would have let the idiot pass and not have pulled out into the outside lane. In this particular instance, I still believe the OP had no legitimate reason to be in the outside lane anyway, there was ample room (in my opinion) to have stayed in the middle lane in anticipation of the other car ahead moving back to the inside lane, which he did. It was a lack of anticipation, and not having realised how fast the Audi was approaching that put the OP in the outside lane, or presumably the fact the OP didn't even see the Audi approaching which I also wondered how it was possible given the long straight stretch of road behind them. Having said, I'm not blaming the OP, I've already said this, but he could have done it better though but yes at the end of the day the Audi was very much to blame the most here because he was the one excessively speeding but I think I lost the original meaning of my point in my first few posts which was purely about keeping yourself safe in the face of an idiotic and lawless road network and learning more anticipation and defensive driving techniques to remove yourself from the danger posed by the many number of arseholes and idiots on our roads these days. We can point the finger all day long, thankfully we are still around to do that, but if you believe your safety is the responsibility of other vehicle drivers, then you are grossly misguided. We used to have courtesy and mutual respect, but those days have long gone - keep safe, keep a look out and stay out of the way of idiots.
Marko: "If he was "tanking it up your arse" why didn't you just stay in the middle lane" Because the middle lane is for overtaking. Doing 80 mph is illegal by the way, no matter how many people do it.
Learn how to switch CC off and drop a few MPH and chill out on the motorway. Being right or wrong isn't what matters sometimes, both of you would have been home soon if you hadn't engaged in hand signs and brake checks.
I boast at being a driver with sixty years full license. Road rage? Don't react. Simply mind your own business, look straight ahead and the moron will tire of the game and bugger off.
Too often it is not what exactly happened but what the moron perceived as happening. If you get in a bit of lane that moron has earmarked for himself then you have transgressed and have to be punished. It need not have anything to do with reality. These people are in their own little world where they are superhero and you are expendable.
Road rage or was he slowing down to answer his phone? I've been overtaken multiple times while clowns use their phones on our motorways. M11 is a magnet for phone users. I stick to 65-70 mph speed while they go between 50 and a bloody sight more than 70 mph
Not far from my house buddy. You should of stopped by and said hello! Lol. It's an Audi at the end of the day, when you go into the show room they ask you for you Kellogg's cornflakes driving license and your wankers master card!
It shit the life out of me mate almost had a heart attack! When I met him further up the road I mentioned having my kids in the car and he said so did he so put two families at risk. Definitely was a wanker
Riaz Ali I disagree. the camera makes the vehicles in front appear much further away. without reducing my speed I would not have a sufficient braking distance. 82 dislikes in 18k views doesn't say fuck all except there is probably 82 audi drivers who've watched this. Thanks for watching.
I have driven to Devon several times this year and I have to say the standard of motorway driving is diabolical . Lane changing , the car behind wont no matter on seing you indicate for ages pull out , lane 3 is empty he but wont give an inch . Slip roads no one knows how to enter a motorway . Hard shoulder is for getting up to speed before pulling out .Audi drivers BMW Merc you dont own the road.
I see this all the time... you could've waited for the guy to pass, but fair enough you didn't see him, happens. He's an idiot for slowing down just to try and give you the middle finger but as I read the description and some comments first in anticipation I thought the Audi would swerve or hit the brakes hard in front of you or keep blocking you while you're trying to overtake... it's not like he did anything uncommon you don't see raging people do on a daily basis, he should just chill out next time...
AJHD He was not in sight when I changed lane, and I could not have waited change lane as I was closing on the white car. the camera makes it look a million miles away but I assure you its close.
Being a BMW owner by rights I shouldn't be allowed an opinion. From a BMW owners perspective to anyone who doesn't drive anything German. Audi, Mercedes, and BMW drivers all do this to eachother as well as other cars. I have BMW's tailgating me when I'm in a BMW. Audi's tailgate me when I'm in a 5 series. So we do it to any make of car not just French and Japanese. We attack eachother and cut eachother up. So don't feel bad ...
Uk Motorways are getting so dangerous with all the middle lane drivers, when do you see a police car on the motorways these days. If drivers us the 'slow lane' then you could have used the middle lane and the 'common german car' could have passed in the 'fast lane'. Motorways are getting so conjested because drivers don't know how to use to drive properly. The highway code needs to change to drive like in the US if the police are not going to fine middle lane drivers.
Personally, wouldn't have slowed down for him, I've had people do this to me, and I've kept my speed, cool and collective, gone to the next lane, and let them prat about. If they undertake (like this prat), then they undertake, more evidence to pass to the police. Shame they're around, but glad you're safe. Additionally, I'd also flag their registration number, that way they can easily google it :D
It wasn't until I'd finished posting, I read another comment of yours mentioning you'd caught up to him, and you both had family on board. I really don't get why people are morons when driving. As a cyclist, I get my fair share of muppets, some underwear changing, some just hair raising, but people need to be more focused on their journey than annoying others.
Why not let your audience be the judge rather telling them their wrong in the opening line of your description ? Stop being so defensive !!! If the video shows what you believe why the need to explain it all in your description.
If he has his family with him in the car why was he driving soo fast, doesn't have much love for his family or respect I would say. When my kids are in the car with me I drive like Mother Theresa, because I don't ever want them to be hurt by a stupid or aggressive move by me, I just let things roll off my back.
Exactly when I gestured I never intended him to see, me and my misses were just having a joke about it, I don't know why the sound isn't working after upload
Don't give hand gestures unless you can back them up. If you are not able to say it face to face then you clearly need to keep your thoughts to yourself.
2b fair u did go into the outside lane inorder 2 overtake the white car, but he pulled in after overtakin the truck, u had plenty of room and didnt need 2 'Block' the 3rd lane! either u didnt check ur mirrors b4 ur manoeuvre, or mr audi was speedin! baffles me that audi felt held up and needed 2 share this with u by slowin down!! strange!! i wonder if any1 has thought about the 44t lorry aimin it at 55mph while mr audi brakes in front of him? playsafe people!
How can you say I didn't check my mirror? Lol. Every time I maneuver I insure there is plenty of space, it was only when I moved into lane 3 that I could see the audi going so fast he was approximately 60ft behind when I changed lane, then when the white car moved over and it was safe for me to move over, I done so, the audi almost hit me as I changed lane and with the speed he was going I didn't want to be undertaken so made sure it was safe to change to lane 2, I'm a professional driver and have qualifications to prove it.
Im sat with a grin on my face! Im a professional driver also! U have put ur case very well! Sorry 2play devils advocate, u clearly think about ur drivin, unlike mr audi! Mway did look clear, wat is it wid audi drivers? Safedrivin my friend!
+Terry Stratford I find drivers of all cars to be idiots to be fair, the idiots in German cars are just bigger idiots as they think they're something special, I could buy there cars twice if I really wanted to but I went with the sensible choice of a 1litre ecoboost mainly for my misses as I'm always on bikes. And she only just past her test so wanted something that wouldn't cost too much if she crashed it 😂😂
@@nigelnitrogen1778 I had a blue BMW tailgating my own BMW while I was trapped behind a cyclists with parked cars either side and no room to overtake. It was a 1 series 2dr coupe behind me and the mid life crisis pratt threw a wobbler as I turned right. I got the profanities and swearing for being behind the cyclist. Idiot didnt even think to look ahead of my 5 series to see the cyclist infront that was impeding my progress. BMW drivers throw tantrums on anyone even me and I drive one myself. there was enough space on the middle lane. no need to go to third lane. so i say the audi driver is right for being pissed off. but the audi driver is totally overreacting. using his middle finger or is horn would have been sufficiënt.
nacho libre pane 3 was clear, I was making a 'safe' overtake doing the speed limit, had the audi driver also have been doing the speed limit it would not have happened, I moved to lane 3 to avoid having to reduce my speed whilst keeping a safe braking distance
MrConsiderate Yes the audi was driving to fast. But that doesn't mean you should make the situation worse by trowing your car infront of it. That's just being self righteous. And not really "safe" .
nacho libre when I changed lane there was nothing in lane 3, I wouldn't put myself in a dangerous position ever, I ensure sufficient braking distance at all times
+nacho libre: If you call it 'throwing in front of the other car' please don't drive in Perú.... You won't believe your eyes what you see there, particular in the cities! I have driven there, also in Lima. It is not that bad as it seems, and I love it!
You possibly made him have to ease off the throttle for a second…so he then slows it all down and delays his own hurry even more. What a tool😂
I've seen worse. The thing is not to stop because he might have been a psycho.
The guy in the Audi obviously thinks he's got a cool car and can do what he wants. Someone please remind him it's an '06 plate and is probably worth less than a push-bike.
Ian McCormack 😂😂😂
I just bought a 55' plate BMW 535d. My self esteem plummeted when I saw the value of Claude Butlers worth more in the cycle shop window.
I drive an '06 Volvo, and while it may not be worth as much as a pushbike I wouldn't want to cycle from Rugby to Preston and back in a day.
I see what you did - you ventured into forbidden territory, the Merc/BMW/Audi lane. Don't you know it's reserved?
Great, that's 3 mins of my life I will never get back.
