    Thanks for the post Justin. Understanding how to setup a custom library for objects and materials has helped me heaps, and I found your explanations easy to follow!

    Hey Justin, Is there no way to align item upon import or jump to item upon import in Twinmotion? Like if you have a complicated and large model, seems it could get lost. I know the Axis doodad gets larger and that helps, but still an "align to", would be nice, placing it generally where you need it. Thx

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  5 років тому +1

      You can right click on the item in the outliner pane on the right and click "Zoom to Selection"

    Is it possible to add your own trees? I'd love to have more tree choices

      Sure - just download them from somewhere and import them

      @@TheRenderingEssentials but these will be static models right? They won't be responding to winds? I've tried fbx files but sometimes the textures aren't included. Will this be a topic on a video too?

      I don't know if this is possible or not, honestly - haven't seen anything about it in anything I've watched so far...

    Justin, your tutorials are very informative and helpful the Best on youtube!. Question: How do I import my own custom asset such as a "photo" of my wife to put inside my Twinmotion house?

    Do you have any advice on importing 3d objects that are not sketchup models. Im having some trouble importing a sofa that the textures come in folders.

    Are objects using material id's that were set up in the software that created the object? How is twinmotion differentiating between the various elements that make up an imported model? The bed for example, how does twinmotion know it can place a different material on the sheets, pillows, blankets etc.? How was the bed set up to do that?

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  5 років тому +1

      It's based on the model hierarchy that gets set up when you first import your model. That's why it's important to not select "collapse by material" when you first import or you lose the ability to color different parts of the model you import

    Thanks Justin. Can you please tell us how many maps does a material have and what are they called?
    How can we understand which map is every image? Do they have a common extension or a common name when we diwnload them form different websites? For example what is the name or extension of the reflex ion map?

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  5 років тому

      Depends on the image and where you're getting it - maybe this is something I can do a video on in the future.

    Is there a way in Twinmotion, using their material library, the Roof coverings 17 or 18 on a four-pitched roof to change the direction of the plot so it goes on the right direction of the roof?

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  5 років тому

      Can't you just adjust the image rotation in your material?

    • @paolobombini4174
      @paolobombini4174 5 років тому

      @@TheRenderingEssentials thanks, but I just figured out what I was doing wrong. In Sketchup for the roof covering I just applied a red color no roof material but doing so in Twinmotion that red color seems not to work in only one direction not allowing to rotate the single plot. But when I used a roof mat instead of a red color in Sketchup, bring up Twinmotion and applying that roof covering 18 it goes in the right direction of the plot. Now I understand how it works, you can't used simple colors in Sketchup thinking that applying other materials from Twinmotion library on that specific color will give you the right way to use that material.
      Thanks again and continue making these useful videos for Sketchup and Twinmotion.

    Hi Justin, I am unable to save anything to user library. Also, if I click the "+" to create a new folder, that does nothing as well. I've tried in version 2019 and in version 2020.1. What am I missing?

    whats the best way to keep the file size down with user library objects. I'm finding it difficult especially with vegetation. Even if I copy them as instance, seems like twin motion is reading it as individual objects

    • @TheRenderingEssentials

    How do you make custom materials if you don't have the poliigon files? I've just tried and failed. I have a photoshopped metal panel texture that works well with enscape and sketchup but looks terrible in twinmotion. Actually most the materials I use in sketchup are custom photos I've created or taken. I've tried processing it through a normal map creater online and it still looks pretty terrible.

    I am having problems importing any c4d, fbx or obj to a project. The object comes out all white when it's imported. None of the images were imported along with. Only .skp comes with materials. Is that a way to fix this problem?

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  5 років тому

      Sorry I'm not sure - I'm assuming probably it has to do with where your materials are stored for those object files - you'd probably have to load them in with the material tools
