Got a brand new 352 Pete in ‘74, 3406 and 13 spd, loved it! Hauled cattle out of OKC. Got a brand new Freightliner COE in ‘81 with 400 Cummins, one the best trucks I ever had in 40 + yrs on the road.
My favorite trucks have always been the cabovers! My all time favorite is Kenworth with the aerodyne cab! Always wanted to drive one! Always wanted to own one! I drove for 16 years. I'm 67 and retired 2 years ago from Holland. OO for a short time. 99 FLD. I wish I would have known back when I was 18 how much I loved drivin a big truck.... I really miss drivin! 🚛🚛🚛
I drove some old cab over Freightliners, from 1970 up to a 1983. One thing I liked a little better about the newer Freightliners, was the door frames were moved inside the cab. I know it sounds weird, but if you look at say a 79, then compare it to an 83 and up, you can see what I mean. Another great video Dane! I understand your blood pressure after you started Grasshopper. That can get scary. Have a wonderful week Sir.
Nice video brother, and, I certainly hope you get to ditch that awful bad cold really soon! Take care and best wishes to you all always! Plus, I also hope you have a safe trip both out and back!
Love the trucks the two best ever. Built I got Peter built tats on me I loved my ole Pete looking at these trucks make drop a tear I miss that life so bad y'all just don't have any ideal to be born to an can't anymore 🎉
Thanks for watching Burt, the whole reason I do this is to hopefully bring those memories back so that you guys can enjoy them once again. My hat tipped to your service buddy.
Another great video Dane houndog is awesome and beautiful what a great vacations unit it is a piece of art grasshopper is awesome as well love that Detroit sound
Cabovers are cool semis. Sadly most of them in America disappeared after the length law changed. In other words, the overall length limit increased which eliminated the need for cabovers & then later after that, not many semi driving companies were buying cabovers anymore which was why auto makes stopped selling them in the USA.
Love the Old FreightShakers, my Pops drove many of them & most other brands over the years, But his last few trucks were cabover Freightliners & a Transtar II
Hello driver! Happy new year pal! Such beautiful cabovers..for a moment thought grasshoppa was gonna self destruct..mobile truckers lounge is coming right along! 10-4 driver im gone
Everything is looking and almost sounding nice seems like Grasshopper was trying to be a runaway. Glad you have that cable set up To shut it down. I just realized looks like Hound dog has a rear cap. Oh well Have a safe trip to Arizona have fun
Reason for the high idle on Jimmy 2-cycles-at least on GMC & MCI motor coaches-was to power the air conditioning. Those buses had engine driven air conditioning compressors-MCI used belts-GM used a driveshaft-turning the compressor thru a Chevy 327 friction disc and pressure plate attached to the Trane compressor. High idle was approx. 1800 RPM.
Correction, the gold Mack bulldog originated in 1967 when Mack introduced the Maxadyne engine/transmission combination. Company my Dad drove for in Duluth,MN bought one of the first ones from Northeast Mack Sales in West Duluth
I see you had Smart Trucking in there. I miss Dave. Oh that Vintage Arnold Bros FL, brings back memories. I wonder if I ever fueled that truck at the Husky in Nipigon in the mid 80s
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE Might not hurt to pull those valve covers and make sure the rack isn't a little sticky - but yeah, hopefully it's the cable/linkage.
It makes me so happy to see your channel thriving Dane, as a fellow musician and son of a trucker, I really appreciate your channel.

Thankfully it’s just the throttle linkage needs adjustment
If I recall correctly the gold bulldog was only on macks with the maxidyne engine
Happy New Year Dane!!
Happy New Year to you too! 😬
I love trucks but my favorite truck is vintage frieghtliner trucks😊

Gotcha, that would make sense. My compressor doesn’t have the belt on it and it appears to be locked up so that must be why.

I stand corrected my friend. Thanks for the info.
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGEI believe you were right about the Mack trucks with all Mack components having a gold bulldog. But that came much later
Might we be seeing a Freightliner project in the Lounge in the future?
Thay are good truck

I’m so glad to stoke up those old school memories, that’s my goal so thank you for watching 😬👍
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE Buddy, did you see Abella's latest video? There is a red GMC cabover i bet you never seen before.
I’ve had that same experience with a 453 but about 3500 rpm!!
Btw did I see junkman dans truck in the clip at the end of the video?
Oilfield companies were still buying cabover Pete's mid 2000s
Jim Reightbaum, from LAKE PETERBILT,used to have a picture of his truck,SPUD HAULER,on his desk...can you get that pic?
Hmmmm I’ll have to check in to that.
Back when trucks had style
👍👍
I think Freightliner made the coolest cabovers. what do you guys think?
They’re up there for sure 😬👍
Crazy Dane
Always a good show
🤓🤪
I don't understand what the problem was. It didn't sound like it was over-revving - sounded like 1500 or so.
The fact it shut down by the fuel cable means it didn’t run alway. I’m pretty sure the throttle linkage needs addressed.
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE Might not hurt to pull those valve covers and make sure the rack isn't a little sticky - but yeah, hopefully it's the cable/linkage.
Bus needs a straight pipe
A Mack bulldog on a non-Mack vehicle? That's a hard "no". Doing so would be heresy, especially with a gold bulldog.
Like your , GRAND ROCK exhaust hat , they built all 6" exhaust from the turbo to the stack for my 1979 w900a long hood .🗯🗯💥💥
Great company, great products, and Josh Stewart is top-notch to work with.
Don't put the mack bulldog on that bus it'll look stupid
😢
Though it would certainly be a one of a kind bus. Probably wouldn't be another one in Canada or the US
👍👍👍
