    Hello and welcome back to Japan! Today we're travelling onboard what's widely regarded as the 'Worlds BEST Train Seat' from Sendai to Tokyo.
    The Shinkansen E5 is JR's fastest train, operating on the Hayabusa services to Hokkaido in the far north. They have this special ultra luxury area, called Gran Class. And quite frankly, it's absolutely insane... I do hope you enjoy the video!

I think they might do one more repaint before they start to fully replace them over years 20 yrs in service so eventually they might get replaced in the future. Hope so it's a Gundam one for the final one. There's already one 500 being preserved I think.

    • @richard-riku
      @richard-riku Рік тому +3

      If you have a green JR pass then those E6 mini-shinkansen are best avoided if you are travelling on the mainline shinkansen route. The trains are narrower than a normal shinkansen and green car and normal class are both 2+2 seating, the E6 green car seats much narrower than normal. I would change at Morioka from the E6 -> E5 if travelling all the way in green car - but you need to be quick at Morioka!

    I took the 'Bullet' train 40 years ago from Tokyo to Kyoto. The speedometer on the wall said 160 kph and I thought that was amazing. It was a regular fare, so I went to the bar car for a spell. Japan invests on transportation. Even then road traffic was horrific. Why the USA is slow to advance is government fusses too much being tight on the purse. One can travel but don't expect quiet, efficient and dependable timing. Freight lines and passenger share tracks and fright has priority.

It was much faster (Beijing South - Nanjing South 1018 km in 3h13min - nothing comes even close to this in Japan), !more punctual! even though both trains are very reliable and the ride quality was a bit better on Fuxing.
