- Welcome to video number four in a series that will chart the scratch building of a Gauge 1 live steam Great Western Railway Prairie Tank locomotive. The videos will aim to give some insight of not only the assembly of the locomotive but also how individual parts are produced.
Many thanks Dave. It's appreciated. Hopefully the information will be useful to others too.
👍👍👍
Nice idea with the "Drilljigg" .... good made! 😊😉
Thanks, that jig has come in very handy over the years. I really need to make some hardened drill guides for it
Which wheels should I order from Walsall for the build? Many thanks.
Let me check back what I ordered. Will get back to you.
@@GroveDave Thank you.
Sorry for the delay. The wheels I used were - Front Bogies = 10 Spoke (G1817) -Driving Wheels 18 spoke Throw 7/16 (G1921) -Trailing Wheels 10 spoke (G1826) Please confirm sizes with your drawings before you order. I accept no responsibility for any errors.
interesting video, how are the wheels held on the axles? You drilled holes in the axle but did not show how the wheels are held in place on the axles.
Do you need to drill a hole through the wheel flanges for a pin to be fitted?
That will be shown in the next episode a 3mm thread in the axel. the wheel fits on and is counter sunk to take a 3mm csk screw
I had the same question. I have never seen this method of quartering before. Very interesting. Thanks.
Where did you get the wheels cast?
I bought the wheel castings from Walsall Model Industries
Thank you
