I really enjoy Jason X. Our theater was packed on opening night. I always wanted a prequel film to Jason X about the Camp Crystal Lake Research Facility. How they captured Jason, the research on him, and the various execution attempts on Jason. Another stellar video, sir.

Your experience of rewatching Jason X is such a wonderful story, thank you for sharing Christian! I love Jason X, definitely one of the most fun Friday films, its in my top 5 for sure. The part where they try to trick Jason with the simulation of Camp Crystal Lake is one of my favourite scenes in the whole franchise - so funny. ALSO I never noticed that the guy in the beginning is David Cronenberg! Makes me love Jason X even more. Reminds me of John Waters' cameo in Seed of Chucky (although Jason X is a much better film.) The early 2000s were awesome.
I saw Jason X on bootleg before it was released in The States. Then, I saw it three times in the movie theaters. I enjoy the holy hell out of this movie. I will never pretend that it was an award winning work of art. But, it is an action packed, fun, entertaining movie with awesome kills; and I enjoy it. I still love watching this movie. It is pure escapist fun.
Jason X is such a fun movie. I would never defend it as a good movie, but it's so enjoyable.

Loved your personal story. This is why I defend the value of movies. So many times we not only want but need the escapist release. Halloween Resurrection is arguably the lesser of the franchise but when I saw it I got the uplifting feeling much needed and appreciated on that day. Great show BTW, love the absence of snarkey negativity.
I appreciate this video because folks don't realize what makes Friday the 13th special. It never took itself serious but took the fans serious

I always loved Jason X. I saw it in the theater and never took it too seriously. And I loved that. It was exactly what I wanted it to be. Future Jason was amazing. My favorite scene by far is the beating the girls in sleeping bags against the tree. I remember having one of my most joyful laughs ever during that I absolutely love it. Wish I had a 4k or American blue ray.

This was the first movie my friends and I ever downloaded illegally from the internet. We laughed our asses off the whole night. I even made a joke after the ship Jason was on exploded saying Jason was gonna be alive flying around in outer space angry. Then it happened. We could not stop laughing. Its honestly maybe in my top 3 Friday the 13th movies because of that memory.
I thought this movie was absolute trash when it first came out when i was like 14, now I just take it for what it is and actually really like it. Jason X is just a fun movie thats not taking itself too serious.
Me and a group of friends went to go see it at the theaters in Slidell,Louisiana opening night. We all loved it! I know I still do! It's such a fun film!

I grew up watching Friday the 13th movies as a kid. I first watched Friday the 13th parts 1 and 2 when I was 7 years old same time I started drinking coffee too. I went to the theatre and saw Jason Takes Manhatten. Great times!!
I feel like if Kane was given the chance to play Jason on the big screen again, he'd be the type to work out and bulk up to make it his best look. Like get a huge amount of muscle mass with low body fat. That would be cool and a lot of hard work to do. He's got it.
I wanted to see Jason kill everybody on the space ship, then show him existing alone on a space ship. What would he do??

Ya, I will always defend Jason X. Part 8, guilty pleasure. The dislike for that movie is well warranted, specially after 7 which is a high light in the series despite the MPAA butchering the film.
There is, was some controversy over what Tarantino said about the 80's in terms of film. He said "the 50s and the 80's were the worse decade for film." Of course the 80's is my number #1 decade. The 70's being my #2....but listening to him talk about it, it became pretty obvious what his argument was; censorship and again DESPITE the censorship that part 7 got, it's still one of the best in the franchise as far as I am concerned. Probably my favorite Jason look. The practical effects of Jason. Carrie vs Jason. The music. The whole plot about the mother, doctor, and Tina, Tina her self is a great final girl...and SO F**KING OFTEN I'll see a comment or I'll be watching a youtube video and they'll make the comment that they don't give a f**k about the characters, it's all just Jason. The characters are just fodder for Jason. Some out right saying the franchise has boring or even unlikable characters. I 100% fundamentally disagree. In fact, that is a big big problem I have with a lot of modern cinema; boring and dull characters I couldn't give a f**k about. That includes 97% of all modern slasher movies. In every Friday movie, I feel like I could party with the characters.
To me Jason X is a perfect movie for what it is. It's the 10th movie in the franchise and it's Jason IN SPACE and they balance everything incredibly well. The comedy is spot on and when it needs to be intense it is. The part where Jason takes out the soldiers on the ship, one by one. I mean, that's pretty damn brutal and serious. Todd Farmer getting his head slammed into the wall. They knew exactly how to balance it. Just like part 6: Jason lives. UNLIKE Freddy vs Jason. Might as well of been a literal f**king cartoon. To me, Jason is a shark. Especially in the later sequels when he's totally undead, a zombie. From part 4-7 and X, Jason to me is a shark. Part 2 and 3, he's getting there. Jason in FvsJ...ya, he's a threat since Freddy only kills ONE SINGLE PERSON. So based on pure body count Jason and being in the real world vs the dream world Jason is a threat, but in terms of brutality and screen presence he isn't. Yet Jason X is a comedy and they still capture the shark like mentality of Jason and I love it.
Also, the female robot in Jason X is awesome.
So I think Jason X is a perfect late sequel popcorn movie. I'll never get the criticism other then "it's a horror comedy' but then I'd have to ask "okay...what about part 6?" 7 also has comedy in it. But from what I've seen, the criticism really does seem to be "but it's Jason....IN SPACE." and my response is "So what?!"
I’ve tried. Numerous times. I just can’t get into any of the New Line Jason films. They just don’t feel like Friday the 13th movies to me. The Paramount films had a certain atmosphere to them that was lost after Manhattan.
I agree buy I can watch and appreciate. I do have too say tge remake is way up there for me though. I didt mind any of the in-between movies because it's still classic. None were unwatchable or absolute crap.
