On the top of your screen, right to the left of the elevation number, there's that icon with the blue water and white waves. If you click on it, it will change from elevation above sea level to elevation above terrain. It won't help you with the landing, but at least it will dramatically reach zero when you smash into the Mun.
There is this moment like 5-7 seconds before landing you realise you are too fast but you keep on going because there is no other option left. You just silently wait for your doom.

Not only you were too fast, that landing spot was terrible. Even if you managed to landed there, your rocket would tip over.

one time i used time warp while 10 feet off the ground of minmus and i ended up phasing through the ground then exploding ._.
