I’ve had my 1965 Mustang for 25 years and the reverse lights have never worked. Plus it has tried to run me over so many times my wife named her “Christine”. I bought a NSS and will install it soon. Thank you!😂
Thx for sharing!
I'm going to wire and connect the function for the neutral safety switch as the previous owner didn't fix it after converting from manual.
Really appreciate this. In addition, I now know where the wires should exit from the firewall.
Glad this helped. Something that I noticed after installing the neutral safety switch is that I am also missing the return spring and bracket for the kick down cable. So look out for that. I will create a video in the near future for a new kick down cable kit.
Hi Michael, ahhhhhhhh so that is why I don't have backup lights! Now I have to run out and see what gears it will start in, lol Also noticed I have those wires coming up too and thought they were for the Gt Fog lights, now I know. Thanks for sharing!
Hey, I believe you should probably mention this tiny little hole that's on the cover, into which you stick a pin so that you can get the proper position of the switch.
Good point. I need to create a video when installing a new kick down cable kit so I will bring up that neutral safety switch positioning in that video.
Thanks for the video
You bet
I transplanted a 302 from a 1970 Fairlane 500 into a 1970 Torino 500 and it will only start in Reverse. I'm thinking the Neutral Safety Switch might be the problem. Thanks to your video, now I have a good understanding of what to check/how to swap it out. So, thanks!
Sounds like the two switches are wired up backwards. Check to see if the backup lights are on in Neutral and Park, but not in Reverse.
Hey buddy, your wiring harness look like it needs some love. I have a running 1966 mustang with a stock wiring harness. Do you need any help with your mustang? I live in the Gainesville,Florida area.
Does this installation apply to a 1967?
How to get a 1991 Ford fox body mustang
What’s that 1 wire that’s not connected to anything to the right of that wire your holding?
That was the old neutral safety switch wire that the previous owner cut and jumped together to bypass the neutral safety switch.
How do I contact you, there may be opportunities for cooperation
8-21-23, what's the mechanism attached to NSS, that moves with gas pedal
I am not sure what mechanism you're referring to. The only thing I can think of could be the AOD linkage.

I will take a picture,I think that's it.whats the purpose
@@carolynjamison582 Technically AOD is suppose to lower the engine revolutions cruising in fourth gear to help improve fuel economy.

Sorry for asking so many stupid questions, just trying to learn how my mustang works

Do I have to shift gear manually to another gear like 2nd
I have a 1970 Torino with the floor shifter, and the neutral safety switch is a complete joke. It mounts to the floor shifter itself, made entirely of plastic, and seems to function one time, not the next, and will sometimes alternate back forth to only working in park, or only neutral, then both, or neither. I am wondering, if I can just use one of these instead. Would all C4's have the ability to use this switch?? It seems like they would... The main reason being the original switch is not available AT ALL, and if you find an NOS one, you will be paying dearly for it. If this switch will work, then screw the original one.
Dont snap the stainless heads.
They look cool but they are a pain to extract
