I built cell phone towers for 15 years did tower maintenance for the last five it was the tower mounted amplifiers and all the radios like the ones you are finding that the company I worked for out in the trash that got me started with my hobby that I love and that is taking things apart to scrape
Well then you’d know far more than me, I wish I had your input when I was trying to figure out what I was looking at! I’m editing the one with the bigger pieces now and I sure wish I had a good buyer for ewaste, some of these boards are incredible
Thub! You should check out mount baker mining and metals channel for ideas on scrapping some of those boards, I hope you do a big gold processing video one day getting all that gold plating off! -also love the dumpster diving parts and do you live in the land of perpetual snow? -should send a letter to the heat miser and get a little snow melt now and again.
Use something like that roll of fencing and attach it to the boards you have covering your rear window. You can still see through it but it will help stop the inevitable piece of scrap that will smash your window.
I do have a piece of expanded steel screen I’ve been meaning to fix on there, haven’t done it yet but it’s on the list! Kinda the same as the brakes tbh, I should probably make it a priority before it makes itself a priority haha
I admire the courage to do what u do in that weather lol….I’m so not cut out for this cold weather…didn’t use to bother me but as I get older, it’s almost intolerable…sucks lol…and u truck around in arctic weather like it’s nothing 😂 and make it look so much easier then it is…
I’ll probably be right there with ya in a little while! Don’t be fooled though, I’m talking myself into it as much as anybody else haha As long as you’re moving though, that’s what I’ve found. I sure wasn’t feeling cold throwing tables around in that bin!
Came across your old videos, & been watching since. Your the only scrapper I like watching on here, everyone else is boring to me. Keep it up brotha & hi from Texas 🤘
Thanks so much! There’s a lot of great content creators on UA-cam, some I watch and some I don’t. I used to try and come up with a reason for each video to exist otherwise it felt kinda empty, but I have adjusted course a bit and I feel more comfortable just doing a scrap hunt video for it’s own sake. Glad you’ve enjoyed them so far, means a lot! I also really like ProjectShopFl, his vids can be a bit long but nobody throws weight around like he does, that guy gets hauls and turns over fast👌
My time spent in Calgary was one really rough winter. I couldn't afford a car at the time so I resorted to deflating the back tire on my mountain bike and rocked it during -40. The best way to stay warm is to keep moving! As soon as yo stop its game over lol.
Oh the car makes a huuuge difference! Before I had four wheels I was using my scooter all through the year and holy cow, you’ve never had truly cold hands until you’re two-wheeling it through the snow. I know exactly where you’re coming from!
The last part of your video is what I like most about scrapping, taking things apart. For some reason I find it very satisfying and educational (when it's something new). Great video.
Absolutely love your channel, Thub! So many scrappers would have walked away from a cold / snow covered dumpster like this one, but you came up with some truly amazing metal. Still trying to get used to Buttcrack Bob tagging along, but the channel is awesome!!
Thub, this is about as perfect a video as can be made. Great length, nice assortment of something for everyone, and I am really loving your editing these days. Outstanding. And . . how come is it that when you say bedonkadonk it's so much funnier than when someone else says bedonkadonk?
Nice score. I spent 2 days in a dumpster just like that. Tons of bolts and washers, some were SS. Lots of aluminum and Stainless Steel clamps. Cast aluminum clamps have SS bolts.
Nice finds, might want to put a respirator on for the fiber glass the concrete dust, Abestose, just all that stuff in the air breathing in , it might slow you down but more important to save your lung's!
Hi Drake, Just watched this one again, and you are either so keen or mad not sure which. Please keep safe and take care, and just love your video's and more from you in the future. Regards John
What an absolute great haul. Communications equipment is always good! You are definitely getting a hell of a workout in that cold weather. You are a much better man than me!
That white rack mount box was a fiber optic digital to analog decoder for the telephone system. It connects the cell tower to the wired telephone system.
Ohhh I don’t know about that 😆 planting trees is fantastic! Although stuffing frozen fingers into rocks and mud a couple thousand times in a day is pretty easy to get fed up with lol
Great upload!! I learned a bit from this one. I find it fascinating to see how things work inside, and enjoy taking stuff apart after I rescue it from dumpsters.
Thanks! I wasn’t sure because it’s kind of a mix of content types and that can be risky, but nobody has dumped on me for it yet… feels like I can go ahead and do the occasional video like this if I find something interesting 👌
Another stellar video. Cool to see your treasures found. Looked like you could have filled up your truck with that dumpster. And thanks for the bag. That got here in like 2 days from Canada to central US. Impressive! Thanks again!
Wow that’s real fast! Must have extra workers running things this season! And thank you, it was fun. Certainly could’ve stacked more in, and now that I’ve seen inside the antenna (video coming today) I definitely wish I’d thrown them all in!
Kindof a funny thing I've discovered, those tarp material square trash containers (there was one bundled up in the dumpster you were in that you picked up and moved out of the way) sell for $20 used in dang near anything resembling a usable condition in my area.
Hey M8 do you collect the magnets out of the microwaves ? Last time I checked , they were selling for 10 USA dls a pair on e-bay . Did that tire inside the dumpster have an aluminum rim ? Great video amazing stories behind dumpster diving . Keep up the good work . God bless y'all.
Looks as if that bottom plate I sent you must have some good luck Ora to it, cuz! Give an update on it. I mean is it on a mantle or hanging in the garage? Awesome find, Thub boyee!
I actually used it to weigh down a pair of jeans I was trying to dye! Right now it’s just sitting in my living room, I like having it where I can see it
When I worked at a full serve gas station most of us would just stay outside once we got use to the cold was just easier I also agree it is part a mental game. Also if you could would you upgrade to a bigger truck?
Yup, just gotta get into it and it’s not that bad. I’m not sure how I’d feel about an upgrade, my payload is a bit small but I like my lil truck. I certainly don’t feel any urge to get anything different
Interesting! I have a small heap but those boxes are kinda space hogs so idk.. but that’s always the challenge with this stuff isn’t it. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what the price does!
For me it’s mostly looking at something and deciding if it feels like a pain in the butt to take apart. The truth is most items are only a couple dollars per hour to break down so the list of things worth picking apart is pretty short. With that in mind, yes I should’ve grabbed the microwaves. They’re worth removing the transformer at least to see if it’s half copper, and in either case still worth tossing in the truck and clipping the cord. It was progressive reasoning that guided me, when I first got there I had no intention of going to the scrapyard on the way home because I figured I was just grabbing the fancy stuff and taking it home. By the time I changed my mind about the extra stop I’d forgotten all about the microwaves. So it’s not a “good reason”, I definitely should’ve tossed them in
When your alone and if you have to pull out washer or big items or heavy. In the trash. How do you get it in and out of dumpster by yourself? I’m running into this problem.
It depends on the situation but for most items I’ll just lift one end up and onto the edge and then get under the other end and flip it in on or out. Slide or tumble it. I’ve found things that I just wasn’t able to move but most stuff is figureoutable. With the tilt and tumble method you’re never actually lifting the full weight so lots of things are possible solo
I totally agree, I feel bad when I’m editing and it hasn’t picked up his voice at all. I can definitely put something together that would work but it sure won’t be a dual wireless lav kit 😆 we ain’t got the budget for that lol
Haven’t looked into it really, still need to find a buyer here in town. The only one I know of so far is a “recycler”, you can buy their pallets or donate to them but they don’t pay you
Hey Thub, what happened with the 5G transmitter from the last episodes, did you manage to sell it on ebay, or did you scrap it? I believe they should sell in any state, as this is the latest technology, worth trying, or no?
I’ve still got the two in box and I’ve got the two I found here for scrap. Haven’t listed them yet, pretty busy and stressful time of the year! I’ll be leaning on those to get through the January slump 👌
I never thought I would classify myself as a “trash enthusiast” but here I am!
Finally something to watch
You must stay in great shape my boy.
I can't do this because of high blood pressure and bad health but i respect Thub he doesn't let anything stop him not even the weather.
Wow, that one dumpster is a gold mine by itself.
I built cell phone towers for 15 years did tower maintenance for the last five it was the tower mounted amplifiers and all the radios like the ones you are finding that the company I worked for out in the trash that got me started with my hobby that I love and that is taking things apart to scrape

Scrap scrap scrap all for me
Great finds mate. The cold is also great at keeping the competition away. The frozen bird gets the chilly worm.
I don't know about Alberta but most of the water fill stations here in London ON have $10 deposits on those water jugs
What doesn’t kill ya makes you stronger ❄️🎵
@thubprint, would you ever collect enough of the lowest grade wires and turn it into a large amphibian sculpture and call it a Giant Coaxalotl? haha.
I love pallets too. Keep up the great work!
You could do with a big magnet like mike has would make grabbing them bolts a lot easier
Also nice that you could get loaded up from one stop w/o driving all over
Out there in the thick of it. Great snow dive.
So much awesome scrap Thub! Very nice! 😁👍 Not many scrappers say "mind the paint" on their scrap truck! 🤣
if you were really into ewaste, then u should check all those pieces for boards because u can get good boards from telecom equipment
Cool beans, my favorite, some dumpster diving and then some unscrewing and sorting. Thanks for all the years of good content! :)
Another great video. It's a beautiful snowy day here in St John's Newfoundland and Labrador.
Get er done 👍
I admire the courage to do what u do in that weather lol….I’m so not cut out for this cold weather…didn’t use to bother me but as I get older, it’s almost intolerable…sucks lol…and u truck around in arctic weather like it’s nothing 😂 and make it look so much easier then it is…

As long as you’re moving though, that’s what I’ve found. I sure wasn’t feeling cold throwing tables around in that bin!
If it's brass, hit it with gold acid (any karatage) and it'll fizz up green like nobody's business.
Wish I had a dumpster like that to go through. Micro scrapping would keep me occupied over the winter.
Came across your old videos, & been watching since. Your the only scrapper I like watching on here, everyone else is boring to me. Keep it up brotha & hi from Texas 🤘
Mike the scavenger he is also in Texas his videos are ok
Thanks so much! There’s a lot of great content creators on UA-cam, some I watch and some I don’t. Insane scrapping in that weather!
Wow that’s brilliant! Loved watching you open up that thingy box. 👏👏👏❤️💙
God you’re good therapy for my day. Thank you.
That is one big heater hanging over head :-) I can't do electric... I only have 20 amps in my Scrap Lair. Great Video as Always!
That dumpster is every scrapper's dream!! Great video as always Thub 👍
ikr! i hope he took all the towers and stainless
My time spent in Calgary was one really rough winter. I couldn't afford a car at the time so I resorted to deflating the back tire on my mountain bike and rocked it during -40.
The best way to stay warm is to keep moving! As soon as yo stop its game over lol.
"The kentic energy transfer device" I shall now refer to all hammers as such Bwahahaha
Oh the car makes a huuuge difference! Before I had four wheels I was using my scooter all through the year and holy cow, you’ve never had truly cold hands until you’re two-wheeling it through the snow. I know exactly where you’re coming from!
It’s oddly satisfying seeing you pull them thick chunks of prep out the bin and sending em to the scrapyard
Bro thub you are doing some serious scrapping in the cold and snow. Got my RESPECT bro!
17:50. I Think those were pads for trailer landing gear so they don't set on the asphalt(more square area). There would be two for each trailer
Oh yeah !! that was a great dive, I would have emptied it out. You should go back and get those other towers. Looking forward to the next one. 👍
The last part of your video is what I like most about scrapping, taking things apart. For some reason I find it very satisfying and educational (when it's something new). Great video.
Luving the strip down videos you do,, one happy little panda 🐼😂😂😂
Nothing like some good 'ol dumpster diving!
Can’t find treasure if you don’t go hunting!
@@thubprint EXACTLY!
Some nice heavy stuff. Too bad it wasn't 30 degrees out, you could have got more out of there. -20 isn't anything to mess with long term.
My thoughts during the entire first dumpster segment: Take the microwave!!!!
I'm glad ya got some help there Thub! Badonka!! Love ya sho bro! I'm in MI so feeling the winter chill with ya!
📌Good video I like the dumpster part and you processing it. 👍
Dragon processor's Tantium processor's too! Gold and platinum inside
Man, that's the dumpster that keeps on giving. Excellent second haul and thanks for the peek inside of the cabinets.
Reminds me of England, moved to Australia, but miss the snow. Lol
Absolutely love your channel, Thub! So many scrappers would have walked away from a cold / snow covered dumpster like this one, but you came up with some truly amazing metal. Still trying to get used to Buttcrack Bob tagging along, but the channel is awesome!!

Thank you for all the kind words! I was worried it was in the long side 😅
I guess I just have a way with badonkadonk? 😆
Nice score.
I spent 2 days in a dumpster just like that. Tons of bolts and washers, some were SS. Lots of aluminum and Stainless Steel clamps.
Cast aluminum clamps have SS bolts.

What an absolute great haul. Communications equipment is always good! You are definitely getting a hell of a workout in that cold weather. You are a much better man than me!
The box is a power supply for the D/A converters.
I needed an extra blanket to watch you tonight. You’re amazing
Looks interesting 🎉
That white rack mount box was a fiber optic digital to analog decoder for the telephone system. It connects the cell tower to the wired telephone system.
Oh, neat!
Nice haul
Very interesting video
Great job 👍😎
I love it when you take apart all the goodies.
Looks like more fun than planting trees, hey?!

I Know this is an older video but antenna couplers are mostly made of nickle. That is why it didn't react but also didn't spark.
Pretty cool stuff you got in that load. Well done!
As I sit here by the pool, in 24°c.. I don't envy you fella ;)
God bless you and Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you!
Holy shit...that looks cold. Greetings from Margate England where we think -3 is cold.
yea get those coins, need lots of cake with this weather
And the 20L water gugs should have a $10 deposit each
Yeah, I noticed that item. A probable tenner there, that being the case.
Nice haul! I always like when you're taking things apart👏😁
Chemical reaction is temp dependent (low of 10c) so that is why you had no colour show
Hey M8 do you collect the magnets out of the microwaves ?
Last time I checked , they were selling for 10 USA dls a pair on e-bay . Did that tire inside the dumpster have an aluminum rim ?
Great video amazing stories behind dumpster diving . Keep up the good work . God bless y'all.
That trailer rim should be a easy thing to Kijiji for $40 even if the tire is no good.
the green things are sat phone antennas they have silver and copper ,aluminum in them the ss. boxes have silver in them also.
rng3769 is rob the junk man weeki wachee florida
a lot of silver plate on the bord in the block of aluminum .
the ss.boxes are worth selling..rob the junk man weeki wachee Florida...
scrape the trace some of them are covered with the green covering...rob weeki wachee fla.
Looks as if that bottom plate I sent you must have some good luck Ora to it, cuz!
Give an update on it. I mean is it on a mantle or hanging in the garage?
Awesome find, Thub boyee!
I actually used it to weigh down a pair of jeans I was trying to dye! Right now it’s just sitting in my living room, I like having it where I can see it
Yes that is in fact a power supply
Really great video content. Say hello to your buddy for us. You've covered that window. Did you insulate the garage walls! Be safe.
I have not insulated the garage 😅 that sure would be nice! If it was mine it wouldn’t even be a question.
I’ll give him your regards!
👍🏻
I complain Utah is cold……then there’s Canada cold 🥶
We did get a foot of snow this week though! All our cold air comes FROM Canada!
All our cold air comes from Siberia, they just pushed some -60 across the pond! It’ll be -30 by the time it hits us tomorrow, gonna be a fun week 😆
......... THE BUCKET.
They could be taking only wires cause they have a small vehicle
some of the aluminum bolocks have ss. bolts on them.
I like the cold but no thank you. I'm from South Louisiana so when we say cold we mean in the 40's.
I think your like me and don't like working for other people. It's great to be self employed!
It’s stressful sometimes though! But despite that, yes, I do like to make the decisions around where my time goes
this is hard body!! I want to do this in my area but i feel like i might get shot.
good to have a buddy whos just standing next to you smoking a cigarrtte and not helping. i cant stand people like him
I'm hearing that stainless steel is about ready to take a big jump in price so you may want to hold on to that for a month or so to see what it does.
Interesting! I have a small heap but those boxes are kinda space hogs so idk.. but that’s always the challenge with this stuff isn’t it. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what the price does!
What do you do with the gold plated boards and mlccs?
Like all your video Whete did u get that magnet
Why would stainless steel bolts be a loss??
Is copper pretty high up there thub?
Headpone plug? Which size? 1/4 inch or 1/8 inch?
Also how do you decide what items are truly worth it and what ones stay, and why not get them all or at least till you fill truck bed?
For me it’s mostly looking at something and deciding if it feels like a pain in the butt to take apart. The truth is most items are only a couple dollars per hour to break down so the list of things worth picking apart is pretty short.
With that in mind, yes I should’ve grabbed the microwaves. By the time I changed my mind about the extra stop I’d forgotten all about the microwaves.
So it’s not a “good reason”, I definitely should’ve tossed them in
Why didn't you take the microwave don't they buy them as scrap in the states??
When your alone and if you have to pull out washer or big items or heavy. In the trash. How do you get it in and out of dumpster by yourself? I’m running into this problem.
It depends on the situation but for most items I’ll just lift one end up and onto the edge and then get under the other end and flip it in on or out. Slide or tumble it. I’ve found things that I just wasn’t able to move but most stuff is figureoutable. With the tilt and tumble method you’re never actually lifting the full weight so lots of things are possible solo
Home boy needs a microphone. It's weird not hearing him.
I totally agree, I feel bad when I’m editing and it hasn’t picked up his voice at all. I can definitely put something together that would work but it sure won’t be a dual wireless lav kit 😆 we ain’t got the budget for that lol
How come you don recycle pallets like the scrap and pallet man Paul
Haven’t looked into it really, still need to find a buyer here in town. The only one I know of so far is a “recycler”, you can buy their pallets or donate to them but they don’t pay you
Aluminum. Not aluminium
