Being too near planes ✈️!
Ha, same!
When I was a kid in the late 60's we lived about a mile away from Paine Field air port in Everett Wash. Our house had a flight path for planes right over our house.
We'd see 737, 747, private planes go by all day.
The fact we went from the Wright brothers flying death trap to a monster like this in only 100 years is still incredible to me.
Honestly. Aviation tech has probably gone the most forward out of anything from when it was first created alongside like, mobile tech
@@IxTwistyy ITS ALIENS GIVING US TECH! But in all seriousness imagine what we’d be capable of in the next 50 years…

As an ignorant in the field, I would say "well, I guess it's the same concept, only executed with a bit more weight an power to it...going faster also helps!"
Never ceases to amaze how those A380s stay in the air. Beautiful.
I was fortunate enough to be working around the Farnborough airshow, in 2016. Watching all those planes strutting their stuff at the airshow, including one of these , was an opportunity I'll never forget.

I have a cousin who lives close to Pearson airport in Toronto and I was always fascinated by the airplanes flying overhead. I was so eager to visit her, just to be close to the planes. Her husband used to walk me to get as close to the airport as possible so I could watch, and feel them. We're talking about the mid to late 60's and I do miss it.
One thing i really miss is hanging out on the observation deck at Philadelphia International, sometimes at 1or 2 a.m. watching the 707's and DC-8's (and others) take off and land. (I'm going back a few decades, of course.) That all changed after 9/11. At the airport watching them through glass at the terminal is the best you can do now, unfortunately. Meh.

I had an attic in Osterley which is 20 mins from Heathrow by car, and every 45 seconds the plane would fly directly over our house on its runway approach. They weren't that close, but not far off. But the best part was when the Concorde would fly over back in the 80's. 3 of them, one every 30 seconds twice a day. I've been there, when I just got married with my ex husbabd, he could only afford a tiny rent house very close to a busy airport in his city, Yogyakarta (the airport is no longer exist today, it was moved far away from the city a few years ago). Planes will fly by approximately every 10 minutes.
At first I was deeply disturbed (I have Aspergers and I do not like loud sounds), but I managed to adapt because I loved him so much The rent was 2 floor high with a small balcony/laundry area on the roof. Sometimes we sat there for hours, eating snacks and drinks while watching the sunset and the planes, talking about the details we could see on the bottom of the big ones (I even asked my father to send his binoculars, LoL). Sometimes we played the "guess the airline" game while listening to crickets and frogs singing (in front of the house was a small rice field) in between the roaring engines.

I live in a rural village on a flight path of a major airport about 6 miles from the end of the runway. We get a plane fly over about every 15-20mins at between 1000-1500ft. I lived on USAF bases, had C141s C5s, C17s, F16, F15, U2s, A10s, and all kinds of other stuff taking off, landing, doing full throttle engine runs all within a quarter mile of where I slept. They rarely woke me up after the first week.
Now I live alone in the woods and rarely see airplanes. I sleep fine. I guess its a military thing, I can sleep anywhere, even standing up.
I thought 23.30 is when flights cease operating into Heathrow until about 6am. Wouldn't it be a bit quieter anyway?
This is Hatton Cross, the south side of Heathrow. The first 11 years of my life I lived on the north side spitting distance away. Back then, when it was windy enough they switched approach and flew DIRECTLY over our house. 747s would rattle the whole house. Maybe 200-300m above. They looked and sounded even closer.
It only got noticeable when friends/relatives commented when visiting.
"Mom?" "Just one more spot before school, please! "
I like seeing the plane , but not so much that I can hear the sound of the plane while sleeping.😅😅
Absolutely and I would apply to council to build a roof terrace so I could sit up there all day and watch them haha.

I don't know why this video out nowhere made me realise how amazing piece of art airplanes are
I love when that happens. I’m in my mid 40’s and I still have moments of realization like that about the most mundane stuff. Lately I’ve been on a tear about how smart animals really are. I always knew they were smart, but I’ve come to realize just how smart through different normal interactions with my cat etc. The world is a fascinating and beautiful place.
Vehicles in general are perfect pieces of art
If I can just wake up one morning, look out the window and be greeted by an a380, my ears are a small price to pay.
I once went to Peshawar City. Our stay was close to a military base. Every couple of hours there used to fly Jet Fighters. On the first day when the jet fighters showed up they were so loud that we ran out to see wondering if a war had started. Then later on we realised it's just their daily practice. Then after some days we wouldn't even bother if they are coming or going.
You tend to find that the persons willing to buy properties in those areas are descendants from the Indian subcontinent. They buy the properties at a significantly reduced prices compared with the rest of London and are happy to do so because their tolerance to noise is very high. Cities in India are extremely noisy, yet buildings have absolutely no noise insulation whatsoever. Double glazing is unavailable or unaffordable and most window frames have huge gaps due to poor quality and workmanship. All this means people are so “used” to noise, they often find total silence deafening.
One hell of an alarm clock right there, if that doesn’t get you out of bed then nothing will
Your not going to need a alarm clock, heck your never going to fall asleep!
One hell of a snooze more like it. A plane that feels like it's gonna land on your roof every 5 minutes.
Many people don't have a roof over their heads. Be grateful for small mercies.

There’s a great film in Australia called “the castle” , brilliant film. The family in that live at the end of a runway like this

We live across the Bay from Newark Airport and the holding patterns were over our houses. After a short time you become deaf to it. But my girlfriend lived in an apartment where the lights from the planes shone directly through the windows. Scary as hell! The lights blinded you and thought the plane was going to fly into the building.
Not only that but every morning at 5:30 AM, the news helicopters fly over checking all the traffic patterns and every evening at rush hour. We have the best of both worlds.
I’m by Laguardia airport but they can’t fly over the same block everyday

In reality, you become so accustomed to the noise of low-flying, arriving aircraft that in short time you begin not to notice them much at all, if ever. I once lived near an airbase when I was a young child and can remember thinking I'd never get used to it. But I did. I don't recall it taking too long. Even today, the town I live in has countless trains passing through daily. I rarely hear them after years of being here.
Good news tho if you were botta miss your flight the airport would only be a couple feet away
I think it is amazing as humans how far we've come. To know that one person is controlling such a gigantic beast is amazing.

After two weeks of living there, you stop hearing the planes. I lived less than 100 ft from a busy rail line one year while I was in college and within a week or two, you completely tune it out and never notice it again.

I absolutely would live there. I love listening to jets flying low overhead. I used to live on Pensacola Beach and about once a week the Blue Angels would practice, coming right over my house. I would run out onto my deck to watch them. Sometimes they were so low I could see the pilot’s face, and SO LOUD! I miss it.
I moved out from the inner city because of noises from 50cc mopeds, amublances, police car sirens, drunk people, home goers from parties at any given time in the night, from the buses, cars, boomboxes so THIS is a viable option to me.
Yep. Definitely. I have absolutely no problem sleeping with the sound of jet aircraft.
