- M&Y factors of Gaskets play an important role in selection of correct gasket for any process. In this video, you will learn about
1. Loads and stresses in flanges
2. M factor
3. Y factor
4. Standards for M&Y factors
Please let us know your feedback and comments about the video for further improvement.
Can you help to find the torque required for gasket in 72" Flange. Which follows AWWA Std. C207 Type D
Material: Neoprene Thick 3mm
Can you please show a proper dedicated method to calculate M value of the gasket as there is a specific value for different gaskets and reason that why m and Y value remains equal respective to size. Waiting for your answer.
Why is it that in Asme section VIII div 1, higher flange sealing face leading to higher thickness required?
Great sir

How to know Roughness (RA) of flange face matching with M&Y factors in Gaskets? and If you have criterial of Gasket material and RA. could you please reply to me
Roughness average Ra is the arithmetic average of the absolute values of the roughness profile ordinates.
Root mean square (RMS) roughness Rq is the root mean
square average of the roughness profile ordinates.
Ra is also called AA and CLA, Rq also RMS.
Perthometer is used to measure surface roughness and surface profile texture.
The flanges with smooth surface finish of 125 rms shall be used for spiral wound gaskets and serrated finish surface shall provided graphite gasket. SW gasket shall not be used with serrated surface flange.
