  • Cardinal Raniero Cantalamessa is a longtime friend of Founder and director of Elijah Interfaith Institute, Rabbi Alon Goshen-Gottstein. He is also a supporter of the Assisi Global House of Friendship and Hope. In this conversation, the Rabbi and the Cardinal reflect on the vision, impact and message of the Global House, and explore issues that are fundamental to interreligious relations today. It is a great privilege to have had this interview with Cardinal Cantalamessa. As he has made us aware, the interview was given at a time that he had cut back on all talks, classes and retreats, for reason of old age, leaving preaching to the Papal Household as his sole public activity. The Cardinal agreed exceptionally to this interview, apparently his last, as he declares at the end of the interview, due to the great value he attaches to the project and due to his close friendship with Rabbi Alon. Messages of support from prominent faith leaders of all faiths, including Pope Francis, the Dalai Lama, Archbishop of Canterbury (em.) and many others are featured on this website.
