Some of the first American airmen to join the air war over Europe were the volunteers of the RAF’s Eagle Squadrons. In 1942 they were transferred to the Mighty Eighth Air Force under the 4th Fighter Group, based in Debden, Essex. The 4th was the first fighter group to penetrate German airspace, the first to escort bombers over Berlin, and led the first shuttle mission from England to Russia. Under the indomitable leadership of Colonel Don Blakeslee, they became the highest scoring unit of the USAAF, destroying 1,016 enemy aircraft in the air and on the ground.
In this campaign you will join the 4th Fighter Group during the first week following the D-day landings, and relive every mission they flew exactly the way they happened 80 years ago. These were meticulously recreated based on original documents and personal accounts with a keen focus on the finest details, allowing you to firsthand experience what it was truly like to take part in ‘The Mighty Endeavor’, one of the greatest military operations in history.
can we get a tally of what you have killed? You used to do that in other series and it’s impossible to read on the screen.
No.
I like this idea
The campaign is surely making you feel like youre a part of something much bigger. The atmosphere is great.
Complety agreed!
Before I paused to write a comment I had this thought to myself. The feeling of helping to tip the war is so real that it's actually got me thinking I might download this campaign and give it a go
'Check the time.' Bravo Wolfpack.
That sent my sides in orbit. Brilliant.
That midair at the beginning was a real event that was captured on film by a combat cameraman
😔
You got a link pls?
Hey, the LST in the intro is still around! USS LST 325 is still sailing around the Mississippi/Ohio rivers to this day. She’s based out of Indiana. I remember going on board her when I was little in Chester IL. Awesome to see the developers thought of adding her in some small way!
Yep in Evansville, Indiana and is also the last function operating ship that took place in D-Day. She us currently away from here on a tour/maintenance run (prop work)!
@@gnavillus13 DAMNIT, can't believe I missed seeing her last time I was in Evansville 😖
AI turns give, "I turn now, good luck everybody else!" vibes LMAO
Loved the opening sequence. LST 325 is based right here in my home town of Evansville, Indiana. Remarkable what they accomplished in those flat-bottom "advanced john boats" Thanks wp345, love your channel many year follower but this is my first post! Keep up the great work and effort! It's so much appreciated!
Damn, soundtracks from OG Medal of Honor😢
Wolfpack, you're a man of culture
Fort Schmerzen I assume from the classic Medal of Honor
He played some music from COD2 in the first episode too. So much nostalgia.
"Only 2 enemy planes seen of the beaches..."
Was it Pips Priller and his wingman?
Aahhhhhh... good ol' Wednesday morning Wolfpacking!!
HMPHF!!! I sit there watching all the action and in the hope of another classic WP landing and guess what? NO landing!!!
I'll let ya off, only because of the successful mission... 🙂
if someone have ever wonder what's with the cable attached to canopy is, it is a canopy jettison cable mechanism for bailing out quickly
I love this series and the quality of the video is so realistic
ALways gets me excited to get back to DCS or IL2.
Been a long time since I heard soundtracks from the original Medal of Honor (PSX)
It's incredible how graphically detailed and realistic modern flights sims can look these days.
DCS is 16 years old.
FECKING WAT?!
18:49 the tower shows the same time of your plane's clock, nice detail of the map!
Spitfire “who you calling chunky, mate?”
Just got myself my first PC and flight sim equipment already got the k4 and will love this campaign from the German side
Really exciting stuff, just stunning production and presentation 👏👏👏🍾🐺
Wolf does it again. Rock on bud!!
Great series so far. Bit of Wolfpack always inspires me to get back on ill 2. If only I could get this trackhat sorted and stop being so janky!
For once Wolfpack's strafing runs didn't feel like he's going to slam to the ground any second :-D
Enjoyed that! Can't wait for the next one!
Really showcases what "The Big Show" was all about...7:00
That was so cool
Good use of music from old Call of Duty titles.
This series rules. Nice flying.
'Just check the time.' 😂
40s aircraft just Look so nice
+1 extra for the original 99' MoH music.
Looks cool in formation buuut I would fly back behind them just because of the a I co-pilots😊 that would make you the one flack cannons would be gunning for tho
Wait a second! How do we know if you didn't break your nose on the landing? Lol!
Thanks for the content. Great camera skills! Still using an eye tracker or you've switch to VR?
I'm not even sure I noticed the stuttering before you mentioned it.
Good stuff.
Watched and Liked 👍
I have a problem with this campaign. My map doesn't render right during this campaign. I've done 4 missions so far and just now I noticed the airfield that you start on has an actual runway, mine is just grass... darker grass...
top 👌👌
Good one Wolfie
When do you start a new Cold Waters Campaign?
Looks like you had fun, Wolf.
To the Devs - I know it's scripted in the game, but I really do wish games would stop referring to D-Day as the 'Turning Point in the War'. Allied high command (and multiple leaders) stated that by June 1944, the point of D-Day was as much to keep Western Europe out of Soviet hands as to defeat Germany.
Nice Good show
So what was the time?
isn't luftwaffe kinda dead at this point?
No
No just kept at bay by this kind of constant screening mission
Not really. Although a significant portion of the Luftwaffe was by this time desperately defending Germany against bombing raids, there were still some squadrons in Normandy. However, they were absolutely decimated by the constant Allied fighter sweeps like depicted in this campaign.
I would rather see a real fighter... P-47 but good series.
This is a pre-made campaign, bud. Reflected designed it with the P-51 in mind, as it's historically what the Debden Eagles were flying at the time.
@@buckrowe9196 Yes I looked them up in episode 1.
What makes the P-51 any less of a fighter than the Jug?
@@KermitTheGamer21 Many of the stats for the P-51 were inflated while the P-47 and P-38's were not given proper credit.
@DL541 what's your source?
A little of Medal of Honor (Attack On Fort Schmerzen) I can hear at the start.
brown = RAF, silver = USAAF, and light blue = Luftwaffe
0:01 Cool to see LST-325. Got to see her when she was in Pittsburgh last
Wow! Perhaps best not to eat before watching one of these….
Great video!
