Thank you. Might have solved my problem.
Great to hear. I do go back to mine now and again to check it’s still ok and so far so good! Thanks for the feedback and for watching 👍🏽
Same problem with my 90 td5 , main symptom is it feels like it’s missing because the ecu shuts fuel off as you power on , freed of the waste gate and hay ho it’s better than it’s ever been , happy days 👍
Hi Roger, it was a night/day difference when I did mine. Felt like a new truck! I’m glad you got yours running better. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
Hi, great vid. Do you know how I can test if the arm is stuck or not without compressed air?
Hi, on mine there is an adjustable linkage. If you note how far the nut is threaded onto the threaded bar (so you can refit in exactly the same position) then undo it. You should be able to swing the arm. On mine it was stuck and from memory I freed it off with a spanner and WD40. There is no need to remove anything (after you have released the nut/bar linkage) , you can get at the arm with the spanner, but it's a bit fiddly! If the arm moves freely all is good but you would still need an air line to check the actuator works. Keep the pressure low or else you will damage the actuator. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
I’ve trouble with mine now - mine moves freely but very the first bit is very stiff - so I think (similar to yours) mine is sticking open a little bit. Not 100% consistent - but sometimes it really struggles to boost - almost like having ridiculous turbo lag.
Sounds at if you are loosing some boost straight to the exhaust. When I freed mine off it was a night and day difference. Without stripping it though I'll never know if it's totally shut. Thanks for watching and good luck.
Roughly how many threads on the arm do you leave before locking up with the nut?
Hi Breakit46, on mine I have 17 threads exposed that you can see and a distance between the lock nut (on the actuator side of the nut) and the actuator body is approx 46mm. I hope that helps a little,. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
@@MikeMakesIt thanks for the reply, I have made a note of that. I freed up the waste gate today and uncoupled by taking out circlip, refitting I had to wind out the rod to ease re fitting.
Thats fine. Good luck. When I put mine back together I tightened it up enough so the actuator was tugging a little on there gate thus making sure it was closed. Seem to work for me and has been running for a long time now!
@@MikeMakesIt will do the same, I measured mine it was 45mm best I could tell. We have a weak compressor so will try blow air thru and see if all is free. Will then do as you did, it makes sense. Thanks for your help.
Thanks for the video mate! Great content! 👍🏼
Glad you liked it! 👍🏽
