Chicken-breeding teenager is spending isolation with 240 chickens | ABC Australia

Loneliness during social isolation is not an issue for 17-year-old chicken exhibitor Shikira Stehbens, as she has more than 240 chickens in her central Queensland coops.
The family owned 15 backyard layers but that number has increased more than tenfold over the years as the hobby turned into her business.
Shikira proudly owns a variety of different chickens, which she breeds to exhibit at agricultural shows. In 2019, she bred 80 australorps, 15 bantams, Rhode Island reds, 30 Japanese bantams and Transylvanian naked neck chickens.
To accompany her collection of birds, Shikira also has a collection of ribbons, trophies and prizes, she’s won at poultry shows from across central Queensland to Brisbane. Last year, she won 17 places in the poultry section of the 2019 Rockhampton Agricultural Show, eight prizes at The Royal Queensland Show and was invited to compete at nationals this year.
With shows across the country cancelled due to COVID-19, Shikira has planned to make the most of her time off - breeding her chickens to be the best they can be for next year.

I offered generous "unlimited food" supply to my two chickens and found out that they (two) eat 30% more food than my 10 yrs old kid do on daily bases. They do take short break, but won't stop eating until stomach expand like tennis ball ... 240 chickens? You do need to prepare one large size of COW each day to satisfy them.
