Thanks for your great crash course! I am working on a pretty much same project. And I am having hassle with data queries! I already have a plain maps with certain boundaries and I am adding street names on! Any idea how I can search the data like street names on a map? like searching for street names on google maps?

@@muhammadzahid333 I managed to do it but the problem I had was that the algorithm would generate paths that would jump out of the network instead of following it... Do you know how I could fix it?
Hi. Sometimes, but it depends on what information the person who digitized the building included in the attributes when it was digitized. Check the following attribute fields: building.levels (floors) and height.
Hello, i edited my city and change colors of roads and polygon but don't know how to save that when i open it again, the color will be the same as what i edited before?
Hi, I wanted to ask if you would have any idea on why even after trying all the proper projection adjustments, when I export the OSM data vectors as DXFs, they are never scaled 1:1, when opened with any AUTODESK programs, with the dimensions they show on QGIS.
Hi--I'm not sure as I don't do any CAD work... However: my question for you is: how are you exporting it as DXF because there are several ways. There's the right-click > Export method, and there's also a tool in the toolbox called Export to Layers to DXF. There's also the v.out.dxf tool in the Grass > Vector tool set. If you've been trying the right-click method, I would give some of these more specific tools a try. That's about as far as I am willing to guess at how to fix this problem. I hope maybe that helps.
Hi, I want to show/add the google satellite image (Or other base map) date in qgis. Is there any option for this? I want to print a lots of fields with date of image acquisition using atlas print option. Would you please help me.
Are you aware of the OpenStreetMap plug in no longer working in QGIS 3.0? i can't get the basemap to show up and have seen some comments online that there is a bug in the plug in right now
I am not using the openstreetmap plugin in this video. I use QuickOSM to pull the data and I am displaying the OpenStreetMap basemap using the QuickMapServices plugin.
Nice car. I have not seen school zone data in OSM, and it wouldn't have construction zones as those are temporary. For school zones, you might have better luck searching for GIS data from the local department of transportation for whatever area you're working on. Same for construction zones. You can usually find speed limit information in the attributes of DOTs' most detailed roads layers.
After adding the OSM data, you could right click on the layer and export. specify that you want to export as CSV, and that will export just the attirubte table, which has street names in the attributes.
If you extract parking areas from OSM into QGIS, you should be able to export to DXF format by going to Project > Import/Export > Export Project to DXF. Good luck!
I want to use OSM instead of the spyware known as Google maps. It creeps me out when Google asks me to rate a place I've been that day. I don''t find OSM easy to use or understand, though.
Perhaps too late, but... I don't believe OSM has elevation information. Depending on your area of interest, you could get elevation data from a variety of sources. In the US, try the National Map. You can also get a digital elevation model for anywhere in the globe and derive the contours... try Googling "qgis create contours from dem". NASA has an updated global scale elevation model data set: www.gislounge.com/updated-global-elevation-data-released-by-nasa/

Hi. It's easier to just get it straight from the census as a shapefile: www.census.gov/geographies/mapping-files/time-series/geo/tiger-line-file.html

If you save the QGIS project file (.qgz) your styling should be preserved when you open it again.

for some reason I only get a few buildings no matter what city I apply this. What do you think is causing this?
perhaps has to do with the extent of your query? ie "IN" "AROUND" "CANVAS EXTENT" etc... ?
how can i obtain the link to the OSM map please
Thank you sir.

perform two query's and then merge the attribute table on the ID attribute with the join attributes table on fieldvalue tool in the toolbox.
