I'm sure that growing up in Europe surrounded by different languages, one tends to pick up bits of other languages, but it was obvious when she visited a French children's hospital that she was not fluent in French. She walked in saying "bonjour" and "Comment vas-tu" or somesuch and then she lapsed back into English. Everything about her bio was probably constructed by Trump because he's obsessed with appearances. Rick Reilly, in his book about Trump's cheating at golf, said that when someone asked Melania where she was from and she said Slovenia, he said to her, "Say you're from Austria. It sounds better". What an ass. But they deserve each other.
As far as her being a model, there were some sleazy naked pictures of her, but I always assumed that she was just an "escort". I don't knock that if that's what she needed to do to make money, but it's certainly anything but a high-priced model.
