Thanks for clearing up Galadriel’s past in such a concise way!!! Not only is it impossible to understand wtf you’re you’re talking about, it should only take 10 years of Wikipedia deep dives to catch up.
Galadriel is the most powerful female elf in their, and "the", history of the LOTR universe, as she was one of the three elves that were given an original ring of power. She learned craftsmanship from the Valar, their lower gods, the same beings that created Dwarves, when she was living in the west, as a "younger" elf. She is undying, meaning she won't age, and can only die from violence or despair, and she is one of the only elves to have decided to stay in middle earth after Eru, the "God" if that universe created their moon and sun (men, "mannish" creature were supposedly created when the sun rose the first time), and later transformed the world from flat to round and sinking Numenor, separating "the west" (their blessed realm where the lower gods lived) the island that the humans, some born of elven heritage, lived for millenia. By this time, the Rings of Power would have encompassed the defeat of Sauron. By this time she would have been as magically powerful as the wizards, or more powerful, hard to say. Her elven magic is a bit different, and maybe they don't compare well, but she waved her hand shooting a bolt of light and killing an orc, and vanquished a Nazgul with a telepathic projection of herself, so the way she is depicted in the Rings of Power, is quite the travesty compared to the way her character is written in the texts. She would have been incredibly powerful by the end of the second age and would have created many magical items and weapons to increase her power, since she was one of the "original" elves, born of Noldor, living with the lower gods and learning their ways, the Valar. She would have been nearly as strong as those beings by the end of the second age. At the time of the LOTR story, Galadriel had been alive for the 1st, 2nd, and into the 3rd age, so she is about 8000 years old at that point, so yeah, knowing all there is to know of her would be quite a lot. The main points, is that she had a daughter with her love Celeborn, and she married Elrond later, and she becomes the Lady of Light. She fought with her uncle in the first age, helping to battle Morgoth's forces, but her uncle faced Morgoth 1v1, and injured him greatly, 7 wounds, and an 8th to his heel. He was a lower god, a Valar, and the most powerful of them, and her uncle died fighting him, but put up a great fight, held to be the fiercest elf ever, Fingolfin. It is held that she was a warrior on par with him and a craftsman on par with Feanor, he other uncle, who was only about 200 years older than her, but was the creator of the first written language, and the most powerful magical jewels in that universe. Galadriel never did become a queen as such during the first or second age, and in the time of LOTR she was married to Elrond. In Tolkiens universe, the immortal dieties do atrophy over time, so the Valar, the lower gods, and the Maiar (later 5 were chosen to become the wizards aka Ishtari), demi-gods, like Sauron, became weaker over time, while the elves gain knowledge and strategy in battle and politics etc. So in this universe she would be considered nearly as powerful as the gods in this universe, only outshines by their highest God, Eru. Those are the board strokes, but the idea of Galadriel is so much more involved. She is 8477 years old when she "sails west" after the end of the LOTR movies. This is akin to them going to heaven, though they keep their bodies and live in a land that doesn't age, where the lower gods live.
Bravest? Not in the First Age, when she spent all her time safely ensconced in Doriath. She didn’t hold a candle to her uncle Fingolfin, or her brother Finrod, or her cousin Maedhros.

$1Billion Dollars of Amazon’s fan-flick vs $93Million Dollars of Peter Jackson’s LOTR, no comparison! Amazon’s was garbage!
No! No, this show is NOT middle Earth before lord of the rings. This garbage has NOTHING to do with Tolkien's Middle Earth. Absolutly nothing.
Nice lady
In ring of power she just kick ass
And then the rings of power came along and shat on her legacy.
Way too much info
Rings of power Galadriel i most prettiest
Great content but the ROP cinematics downgrade it :p
I'm confused! some critical points:
1. what about maps? they are part of the backbone of every lotr-story-telling.
2. do you have a contract with amazon? Are you AI?
3. why dont you touch on the discrepancies between Galadriel and whatever we are being given to identify as Galadriel/John Wick in the "rings of power"?
4. and finally why do you constantly take reference to the one element in the rings of power which is supposed to cover up its horrific script, acting and story-telling, namely the unbearable kitsch painting? Is it to support or distract your "story-telling"?
I'm confused!
I'm sure galadreal had a thing with gandalf
So, some idiot decided to get blocked permanently.
Well done Editor Corky.
Its just a show guys lol geez its an adaptation. You also have to look at production cost. Stop whining.
"You also have to look at production cost" - what does that even mean? Did you intend to dismantle your own point? They had more money by factors than any adaptation before. How is production cost supposed to be an "alleviating" factor in criticism here?
@@stylishskater92 Meaning they might not have not been able to put in everything they wanted.Just because they had "more" money means nothing. Like most shows. Bottom line stop thinking so much into it and just enjoy the show. If you cant, shut up and find something else to watch. You're a grown thing. Stop whining like a child.
It's a shame we can't see dislikes anymore, just saying.
I swear Galadriel gets hotter and hotter the younger she gets as if her femininity blossoms in reverse order.
ugh
The words beauty together with pictures of Cate Blanchett don't make sense.
I think one thing that’s declining civilization is that fact that grown adults aren’t growing up. This is children stuff.
I notice the narrator of this video doesn't list Orodreth as one of the brothers of Galadriel as he's mentioned in the Silmarillion. Very impressive because we find in The History of Middle-Earth that in Tolkien's latest version before he passed Orodreth was made the son of Angrod, and Gil-galad the son of Orodreth rather than Fingon.
I was here thinking that this would be a "well let's guess how much Amazon paid this one", but instead i was smiling with joy to see that he defined her first by her name, just like Tolkien would have. I love to see people being made cause they thing we belive Galadriel is "an overpowered Mary Sue", but in truth, i at least think that forcing her to use a sword agains a troll is like giving Scarlet Witch a pistol.... Is a real downgrade of the Lady of Light, that, in this timeline, would be in the North slaying the spawns of Ungoliath.
And not to mention how she can't even get her "elite squad" to work together against a single troll.
And her forever petulant Karen character. All the changes makes for an inferior telling compared to the original tale by Tolkien.
And they try to portray this as an "empowerment " and "diversity"? RoP pisses on and insults true rational and real diversity and "empowerment " and more like the worst case of tokenism.
@@Jinkypigs ,
The difference between Galadriel of LOTR and the Amazon series, is that the Galadriel in the series, would take the one ring...Just saying.
Oh yeah. she'd yeet frodo so fast the ring itself wouldn't know what was happening.
LOL! Very good observation! 🌻
Indeed. A good take
galadriel wasnt doin much in books aswell...there were others who did tho...like feanor, fingolfin, finrod, beren, hurin, turin, turgon and so on so on...Galadriel was just shadow figure in books...lord of the rings made her look so strong and maybe she rly was but u never get to see that in books except for small part in dol guldur clearing
@@erikciel2817 yeah, she didn't really shine in the books, but that was really just normal for the times.
She was a good soldier, a good LT, a good Captain, a Good leader, but ALWAYS, a subordinate. At the time that wasn't an issue, because women weren't competing with men, they just expected that men and male figures would lead the way.
However, being a female elf, she survived longer than almost everyone else, without really being scrutinized.
You think about it, in the texts, do you hear about Feanor's wife, or Fingolfin's wife, etc etc etc in battle? No. Absolutely not. The stories were written between 1910 and 1980. They simply weren't focused on.
Did they fight? For their home, yeah I'm damn sure they did. For their race? Probably. For their country..

I'm not sure how they managed to turn one of the most powerful and respected of Elven sorceresses, who happens to be even older than Middle-Earth's sun, and quite capable of single-handedly destroying a fortress, into whatever that was in Rings of Power.
They actually managed to downgrade Galadriel...
And if one of her buddies actually turns to be Sauron in disguise, they actually managed to make her dumber, too..
It’s called woke-tardation. It’s what happens when liberals try and infuse their agenda into society. Why? Because feelings… 🤦🏿♂️
How do you expect her to be so powerful in LOTR? By being a sob hiding for thousands of years? LMAO NOT. They're showing us how she came to be. So sorry you didn't get the princess locked in a tower. That's not how a powerful being is made
@@gjcb8248 none of this real bro.....
None of this 😂😂😂
@@gjcb8248 Maybe learn about the lore a bit or you just didn't pay attention to this video. She was already powerful in the timeline by the time the events of the rings of power take place. They are already in middle earth within 15 minutes in the first episode.
@@gjcb8248 She's literally older than the sun. By the Second Age she was ALREADY the 'wise' Galadriel of the Lord of the Rings.
Her 'teen' days were way, WAY back in Valinor in the Age of the Trees.
Also, 'Years' in Middle-Earth can vary in length. The Years of the Age of the Sun are regular years, but those of the Ages of the Lamps and the Trees were hinted to be longer.
Galadriel is far, far older than many people realise she is.
Note, the phial of Galadriel held “the light of Earandil’s star” in other words it is basically a Silmaril. As is her hair. The well of Galadriel is in essence a Palantir. Both of these are things that, other than her, only Feanor could do or make. As a student of Aule she would be very very powerful. It is said that she was second in power only to Feanor, and we all know what a bad ass he was . She is also smart and disciplined unlike her uncle.
Yeah people complaining about the focus on Galadriel being due to "woke" culture is absurd. She's insanely strong and should be the focus
@@rj1867 dude who complaint about galadriel being the focus? She is suppose to be ONE of the focus in second age. Really now?
Hardly the wise, strong, powerful galadriel written by Tolkien.
Not to mention all the twisting, disrespect and bastardisation of all the lore and story, making it inferior to the original tales.

Rings of Power's Guyladrial is terrible
First of all, the guyladriel from rings of power isn't the real one
Bravest? Not in the First Age, when she spent all her time safely ensconced in Doriath. She didn’t hold a candle to her uncle Fingolfin, or her brother Finrod, or her cousin Maedhros.
This is crap, this rings of power galadriel, it's nothing like JRR Tolkien would write, ever.
Super woke fanfiction sadly

I’m having trouble recognizing the Galadriel of LOTR with the Galadriel of ROP ..
You're not the same you were at 15. She's only 4,000 years in ROP. In lotr she's 11,000.
And 1000, year's before that she was a 14 year dwarven boy in a Beard Metal band, Called "Dragon Bone". They broke up after one album, apparently the lead singer had a cracked rock addiction and well we know how that usually ends.
"Brave" 😂😂
Galadriel has always been my most favorite character in LOTR. I have been enchanted by her. This feature of your strengthens that even more! Thank you so much.
you should read books..
but not with the LOTR: Rings of power.

Lets hope the "War of the Rohirim" novie release in April 2024 restores Tolkien fans faith in Hollywood.

if you read all the books it amplifies the visual media versions x3 ....and visa versa x4
Her not accepting the ring is the same as Gandalf doing the same when Frodo tries giving it to him
Because they are powerful beings and both would be corrupted by the ring
Yes, Galadriel was one of the most powerful Elves because of her spirit and magical skills. But in Rings of Power, they stupidly turned her into a grim Wonder Woman that couldn't fly - a Mary Sue. Stupid and sad. The Rings of Power lost me when their woke writers had Galadriel kill the Snow Troll in like five seconds - right after that same Troll had kicked the asses of all the other elves in her company.
It's fan-fic and should not be even consider official work.
lol shes suppose to be badass and powerful but only in a way that's not physical because that doesn't make any sense I guess.
I'll agree that it should have been a better fight, rather than showcase how important Galadriel is, but you should read how Tolkien described her in her youth before you criticize how she's depicted.
@@frey8725 from my understanding she was considered fierce and one of the most gifted athletes.

I disagree with the "she supported Feanor" part. She had ulterior motives for going along with the Noldor, to have a place to rule of her own.
She denied Feanor's request of her hair 3 times, the kinslaying of the Teleri solidified that hate against Feanor even more.
So she had a child that her best friend ended up marrying and having a child with??? Ewwww
this is my thoughts on lady Galadriel if she did take the one ring from Frodo by force I think that she would become a lot more scarier and a lot more evil
