I prefer karate. It's closer to boxing which is superior when it comes to hand striking only. Arms are tight in protecting the body and head. Kung fu too loose. Make look cool but not as effective or efficient fighting and defending style IMO. Again we're talking arms only. Actual street fight would be zero punches. All open hand strikes and elbows are moat effective even against an experienced BJ fighter if you know where to strike.
"Kung fu too loose. Make look cool but not as effective or efficient fighting and defending style IMO. Again we're talking arms only. Actual street fight would be zero punches." It depends on the style of kung fu, of which there are hundreds including cross-styles and northern (longe range) and southern (close range). But more importantly as with any martial art, it depends on the practitioner, the master, and how often the practitioner/student trains. If they go to a school once per week and don't train outside of their school they won't get anywhere.
Good sparring, keep it up!
