Dear Lisa, thank you for your brilliant classes. I’ve been listening to you since long ago. This class has really touched me. I’m from Ukraine (Odessa), and I ought to explain you and your subscribers what the proposed cease fire means for Ukraine. Death!
Russia invaded and occupied a part of Ukraine in 2014. We agreed to a cease fire several times, including Minsk agreements I & II. Peace never reigned after the agreements. Russia kept on shelling, cannonading and bombarding the sites which were controlled by Ukraine as well as ones controlled by RF. UN mission was able to monitor only Ukrainian army as RF didn’t allow the mission in.
Then on Feb 24, 2022, RF launched the wide-scale war. They were absolutely sure that they would seize Ukraine - first of all its capital city Kyiv - in three days. Ukrainian warriors draw the enemy out from the largest part of our lands, and have been defending the country from the much bigger and stronger enemy for three years. But we didn’t stay alone. We highly appreciate assistance from our partners - US, EU and other countries.
Being unable to overcome Ukrainian army, putin-the-hitler is trying to stymie and lock our Government. This isn’t putin who echoes Trump’s claims on Ukraine election. On the contrary, this is Trump who echoes putin’s dreamboat to get rid of efficient President Zelensky and wreak havoc upon Ukrainian society.
We cannot, don’t want, and aren’t able to run elections until Marshal Law has been canceled. According to Ukrainian Constitution (1) any elections are forbidden within the period of Marshal Law; (2) President is elected for 5-year term but executes presidential responsibilities until a new elected president takes the oath of office. The most decent citizens-voters as well as the most potential candidates to elected positions are on the battle field; over 5 million people are staying in other countries as temporarily displaced persons; the whole of Ukraine is under the threat of rocket attacking and bombarding ceaselessly…
Ukraine needs justice truce, sustainable long-term peace, and guaranteed security. Putin-Trump’s demand to run elections before everything above has reached overshadows our hope to live in peace in the nearest future.
I’d like to thank everybody who has read my message. I hope you realize that Russians are greedy and cruel barbarians. If Ukraine falls, they will keep on seizing other countries, ruining cities and threatening the world wellbeing. Only military defeat and collapse of putin’s regime will stop the horde. Do your best to help Ukraine because this is the right thing to do.

Thank you for teaching all this valuble staff, also thanking confusing us about seize and cease? I ve never even thought of either of them when use one of them. You should never do that. One of the worst thing for learner is to get mixed up with two words.
I believe, for the word "to echo" we can also use "to second" like "I second my boss' plans for the upcoming project".
