Did an involuntary yell of joy when I saw this video! Two of my ultimate favorites. I listened to the audiobook version of Maria Bamford's book a couple months ago and it was excellent, definitely recommend listening to it as you get to hear her wonderful narrations and voices and impressions. Can't wait to check out Aparna's book too! Just ordered it
I concur. Self-loathing can drive me to push myselfto do better things but it can also beat the crap out of me. I guess if it worked only in one direction I would be a sociopath. I'm ok with it.
I think the type of mindset you have to be in to scroll social media is really opposite to the one you have to get into to be creative. It’s an input vs output thing. And especially with the volume and variety of comments famous people get, it would be untenable for them to respond to everyone.
Right “cult” comes from culture, and religion means more “re-ligament” , yoga is like “yoke”-on a cow, and tiki torches are from the South Pacific, if I’m not mistaken. To be careful in the awareness of things to not be mearly in a contrarian mode. But anything that’s “us vs. them is still more a mamillian survival mode. To get out of the eddy’s of our minds traumas that we must process, or at least work to be aware of the separation of the emotion, the reaction and the situation, to not be in constant survival mode. I would love to talk with you more Maria, and Aparna as well actually. I got half the alphabet in misdiagnosis, but on the spectrum, BP1, TBI, PTSD, 80% celiac. Started passing out plants as therapeutic horticulture for Veterans and underserved communities out here in Denver.
Sorry if I wasn’t clear but, the impetus for the individual to, unfairly need to be in survival consciousness, and that ability to sit in the stream, and let the thoughts and emotions be, but not be so attached, ( trying to not sound like a guru, I’m not, but the Bhagavad Gita: As it is, really has helped with my situation. (Transcendental harmonic resonance to increase consciousness for the betterment of all.) and corresponds to some of the new-triune brain theory.

But I think it’s more that the issues of “mental health” is a by-product of the imbalanced equation of society at large, and we are simply the perceived remainders of that imbalanced perception of survival based solely in the reptilian and mammalian survival mechanisms. There’s more I’m trying to put together, but yea. Maria, Toad Hall?
If any of the maslow’s hierarchy of need aren’t met, especially in this country, what to say of 70% of the world, where basic things are not something one needs to be indentured to servitude, artificially maintained caste systems. There is enough for everyone, if we can develop more thinking, quantinamically.
