Welcome to the Soundview/Bruckner section of the Bronx. This is the home of Nitch- a young heretofore-unknown band that's all about urban rhythms and hard-core metal.
No, this is not another rap-core clone. More melodically poetic than street rap, Nitch has fused their myriad of influences to a heavy sound that's impressively versatile and showcased with stage savvy. And having been embraced by metal, hard-core, and rock audiences alike, the band's overall appeal is spurring on their rapid rise to prominence in the heavy market.
Flavored by a multicultural background and drawing inspiration from almost everywhere- Latin jazz classics, hip hop, The Misfits, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Fishbone, Nirvana and Nine-Inch-Nails- the group has a polished richness and moving chemistry that's uncommon for a band that's so early into its career.
No-nonsense from the outset, Joe Reyes (vocals), PJ LaFrossia (guitars), Alex Figueroa (bass) and Carlos Rosas (drums) gave birth to Nitch in 1999, and quickly established themselves in the New York/New Jersey scene as a musical standout.
After twelve months of tireless writing, rehearsing, and recording, Nitch made their live debut at the world famous CBGBs in January 2000. Other venues followed, most notably the Spiral (NYC), Acme Underground (NYC), and Blackthorn (NYC/Bronx).
