- Canada’s House of Commons returned from summer recess on Monday, with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and opposition leader Pierre Poilievre challenging one another on housing affordability, carbon pricing and cost of food.
“After this summer that these Liberals have had, even the prime minister must admit that he's not worth the cost,” Poilievre said. “He panicked when he plummeted in the polls and reinforced recycled promises that he [had] broken six years earlier.”
After question period ended, Trudeau made the surprise announcement that Canadian security agencies have linked the killing of high-profile Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar back in June to the government of India.
Poilievre and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, who is also a member of the Sikh community, reacted by expressing their outrage and calling for unity.

He ran his campaign 8 years ago on stabilizing housing prices... they've literally doubled. I've had to move to the arctic with my partner just so we can secure the funds we need to buy a home. I will never vote liberal with Trudeau or any pm who says the budget will "balance itself" I've learned my lesson...

Why is the price of food increasing, it is driven by the main culprit the Federal Liberal Government. Carbon tax on farmers to grow our food carbon tax on trucking to delivery supplies and food additional fuel tax for truckers carbon tax for retailers to keep food cold or hot heating stores increase payroll taxes, cpp & ei, for employers to pay in addition to wcb Carbon tax to increase in April 2024 Wonder why groceries are so expensive.
Food price increases are a global issue, in nations that have a carbon tax or not. The money goes back into the pockets of Canadians, and go back into the pockets of farmers and truckers who invest in green energy sources. If you think a carbon tax affects food production and transportation, wait until you see what the climate disasters we are seeing do to not just food production and transportation, people's entire livelihoods. Conservatives can always point to inflation and blame the party in power, but they have no plans for anything. All talk and petty bickering, no actual plans for action other than cutting taxes for the ultra rich and cutting social programs that Canadians need. Embarrassment of a party.

First of all, not all scientists believe carbon is the cause of the climate change. History shows us the climate has always changed. Human being weren't here to witness most of it but stats show the storms during the 1930's are the worst ever seen and much worse that we are experiencing. You should educate yourself. The climate will continue to change and humans are just in the way. We have to adapt because lower carbon is not going to stop the climate change. If we don't adapt we will find out that we were wrong about carbon and it will be too late. Human beings are not stronger or able to control the natural cycle of the planet no matter what these politicians think and on top of that they have no proof that what they are acting on is correct. They want to bankrupt our country on a model that has been proven over and over to be wrong. All of the catastrophes that they have predicted did not manifest themselves. Climate change is a problem not a crisis and we can do better with better policies than carbon tax. Tax is doing nothing but making Canada a third world country with out of control housing, hungry children and depressed non-productive people, very similar to what Russia did to their people. We have to be much smarter about this. Quebec needs to unleash their hydro power. We need nuclear power. Why hasn't the carbon tax been used to build nuclear reactors. LNG is a huge contribution to lowering world wide carbon and we aren't developing our immense supply of it. The whole thing is completely a mess thanks to the Liberals! We should be the richest, most prosperous country on the planet and instead we are being the poorest amongst the G20! This is absolutely insane.

anyhow, there are definitely some forward-steps we can take to get more food-value out of those acres. 🤔 build a few massive green-houses, grow Cabbage, or Carrots … whatever is great value. probably create a few jobs. 😊 that doesn’t take up much % of the 100+ acres … and honestly, this Carbon Tax stuff should help build Greenhouses. 💜👍

The so-called affordable living apartments built in Halifax are actually condominiums that cost $250,000.00-$300,000.00+ and a monthly maintenance fee of approximately $150.00. There is no way the low-income Canadians in Halifax can afford the purchase cost or the monthly rent(s) of the condominiums built for the RICH Canadians in Halifax.

1/2 of my entire life's earnings go to taxes and probably 1/2 of the goods and services I buy with the rest is probably also tax. Why does Canada have such crappy roads, heath care, education, housing, manufacturing, Infrastructure, climate change combating jobs and well everything else? I am a stone and I my leaders are bleeding me dry. I don't care if you are blue, red, green, or purple for that matter. Please just some good leadership. We are all paying for these wages to hear them act like children.
Then you must make a lot of money, because only high earners pay that much in taxes. If you make a lot of money, then you can manage paying your taxes like we all do, and you should because clearly this system that was built with taxes has served you well. And if you don't earn a high income, then you should be very afraid of the conservative party, who want to make life harder for you by cutting taxes for wealthy people, and cutting social programs that Canadians need.

You are wrong, Conservative government benefits the working poor too. A number of my friends and myself were working poor, single mothers and we benefited under the Stephen Harper's government. Taxes were lower too, and we can save, not now or under previous Liberal Federal government before the Harper Conservative. Taxes are always high under the Liberal government.

Lets build more homes in Atlantic Canada that most of us can't afford?? Mortgage interest rates are so high that many people can't even get approved by the banks to buy a home. I am terrified of what the mortgage interest rates are going to look like at renewal time. In a year many Atlantic Canadians have gone from just managing the cost of living to Debt just to feed their families and put gas in the car. Many parents i know have to choose food over their kids sports or music lessons or quality school supplies. I don't know the answer to fixing the problem but massive taxation for gas is not going to help. The cost of fuel reflects the cost of life greater than anything else.
