Pretty easy call to be honest. You can see on the screen that Laak has nothing.

Laak's play was really polarizing. He's basically saying he has KK, QQ or nothing.
@@Mitjitsu Not even remotely true. It's a single raised pot and Patrik check called every street.. A5s, AA, AK, KK, KhQh are all INCREDIBLY easy value bets on the river. I don't know if Laak is opening 22-44 UTG but those are all easy value bets too. He doesn't even have QQ that's probaaaably checking the turn.

Patrick's call vs Laak was one of the nicest I've ever seen
Especially with Laak who is a very tight player..maybe he saw a tell
He won a 500,000 pot calling with K high vs Marchese on Full Tilt

The time poker was great. Players with actual character on the table..
But they played absolutely horrendously compared to today's standards. A lot of gambling and senseless shoves.

@@stkfrYou need context man, throughout the session Laak checked nearly every flop and barely went for two streets of value at all. They always had to show a card aswell and all the players worked out that Laak had Aces couple of times already. Like what Maciej says Patrick thought it was more likely Phil was bluffing as he always checked his big hands

Also I can only assume Patrick thought his bet sizes made no sense either.. he bet huge on flop and turn then like 30% pot on river (I think)

I’d pay for it I guess but I binged all of them when I started playing poker 2 years ago and this show literally taught me how to play. Hopefully they have some of the greats on the new season!

So crazy to watch Tom Dwan outplaying everybody back then - to think he was in his early 20s sitting at that table with all these seasoned veterans and legends while striaght up murdering them left and right is just so crazy to watch.

And particularly in that session, Laak played very tight, so that call is even sicker.

Yeah, both this and 4 were different. The cash game they have now has guys donking off million chip pots but they don't care. In those seasons you could just feel the pressure.

i think dwan is great but eastgate played that hand so poorly. he was playing so scared & didn't really belong at the same table as dwan & the others. there was another hand where eastgate just called on the river vs. dwan while holding trip 6s & dwan was shocked.

It's ballsy for Dwan to run it out as is and not to agree to that offer.....it makes for good TV that's for sure! I reckon I'd take at least $50k back for insurance! Although I love getting it in with exactly Dwan's hand, that flop and putting my opponent on AA.
