I don't clean the inside walls, just the grates, water pan and front glass. I also vaccum out pellets front and back. I live in a high humidity area and I don't want them to expand and cause problems. Bought the vertical smoker from Lowes and it's a cooking machine, wished I bought one years ago.
I just got mine from Lowe's and I'm wondering why I didn't buy one sooner. Now I can hang my sausage without laying it on racks. So ditto on wishing I'd bought one years ago!
I’m moving to a high humidity state here in a couple months. I’ve never lived in a humid state. Do you recommend emptying the pellets out after every use?
Yes, I live in Central TX. If you don't want to deal with a jammed auger, empty out after the pellets. Bit of a pain, but I have a small shop vac I dedicated just for my pellets and then dump them in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid, makes it easier.
The manual that came with my 3 series said to clean the burn-pot after every use. I can’t find any information on this, and it looks like you haven’t done it in the video
do we clean out that little shoot in at the bottom? I used mine the other day and it set fire so i just turned it all off and put out the fire. I'm new to all of this though, not entirely sure what to do.
I have a similar unit, but can't figure out how to get all of the remaining pellets out. Do I burn them off? I used the shoot on the back to get most of them out already, but seems like there is still some in the auger area. Im just thinking about storage outside during the winter months. Id hate to see soggy mush in the auger come spring.
Leave smoker totally empty of pellets if they get wet or damp from the humidity the pelletsbreak down and then dry in auger to wood cement am currently trying to clean the auger out 2:25 😢
I bought the Pit Boss Pro Series 2 model PBV4PS2 the real new one last month, do I have to remove the screws a clean the burn pot area on this one, I see yours it different you just take it off? Please help me please and thanks.
I have the pro series 4 (1st edition) and was wondering how to easily remove change the pellets. The door that dumps them leaves quite a few and there is a grid in the hopper that prevents you from getting down in there and removing them by hand. This would still leave a decent amount in the auger, which I assume would be used during the burn off after cooking. Any advise would be appreciated.
@@PitBossGrills Do you recommend removing the safety grid (or whatever the plate is at the top of the hopper) for easier access? Also, does Pit Boss recommend sifting pellets prior to use? Thanks!
So far the one major design flaw I have found. Sides should be steeper. The other design flaw would be the leaky seems and door seals. I love the grill. Particularly at this price point. But this issue should have been corrected after your initial testing.
Get a bigger smoker haha But on a smaller smoker you gotta bunch up the meat a little to get it to fit. I just got the Brunswick vertical smoker and now a brisket fits perfectly in it
I just got this exact smoker and during my second time using it there wasn’t much smoke until the pellets would catch on fire and spike the temp up to about 400 until the fire went out. Happened every 30-45 min. Any tips on this?
You can usually lower the temperature to get more smoke as the lower the temperature the more smoke is produced as the pellets have more time to smolder and not burn quickly. If you need further assistance, please give us a call at 877-942-2246.
I just bought this unit and this happened on my 2nd smoke. The entire bottom caught on fire and it spread to the top. Very skittish about using it again. Any update in the 1 year since?
@@claytonrhoades938 yup. I got rid of that hunk of junk. Went back to my $100 master built with a cold smoke generator mounted on it. Works like a charm
@@frankiesleight7921 Thanks for the response. I bought mine to replace my electric master built based on the recommendation of a friend who had some great food recently. My second smoke ended up with the fire extinguisher in hand. I don't cold smoke (so far) but had hoped this larger unit would be a good solution to my regular smokes. PITA to return it once assembled. Honestly don't see how this was user error on my part but I'm trying to leave the window open that maybe I did something wrong. Plan on calling Pit Boss tomorrow. Thanks.
Rickbee, you can remove the chimney assembly from the unit and clean it out that way if you like, but for the most part, cleaning the chimney would not be necessary.
No need to do all these silly things to clean, cheap vodka works better than anything else period! Need very little and have a couple drinks when you do it! Don’t believe it, try it. Took me seconds to wipe off my glass on my boss 4 series.
Thanks for this video, I just picked up that Smoker at Walmart for 50 percent off ‼️‼️‼️

Should you run the smoker after cleaning to burn off any residue left behind from the spray?
That looks awesome but sadly my Degreaser came in today from you guys and it doesnt work that good as you showed in video
The video shows it working like crap. Notice how it jumps to a clean grill after the guy cleans it.
Sadly 2 different smokers. deceptions in selling a product. not good!!
They sent me this link after our conversation…must be trying to tell me something 😅
Just got new smoker
How many smoke or how much time to empty the ashes holder

I can understand cleaning the glass door but why clean the inside walls ?
You'll find out...
Grease grows mold
Is it okay to spray the inside out with water after wiping away the degreaser? Or is that a no go
You’ll just need to make sure it’s fully dry after and keep the water out of the controller
Can you use apple vinegar
Also can I pull out ash trey while smoking

Press and hold Prime ( if you have that button ) it to spin auger a bit quicker and let all pellet out then let it cool down etc
Metal on ceramic is a no no bub

Has anyone tried moving the control panel to the top of the smoker to avoid the extra heat and drippings?
on this model it is up on the side, no need to move it

Usually people use a shop vac. I would just start with it empty so you can take them out of the vacuum.

What are the differences between series 4 and 7 in Pit Boss Vertical smokers? How do you cook a medium/ large brisket unless you cut it in half?

this is stupid. after 1 smoke your back to dirty. just remove large clumps and vacuum.

Really hot water and Dawn soap. Let soak, light scrub, rinse well.
