Broadcast: You've got to force him to his left
MJ: [scores going left next 4 plays]
it does'nt make a difference which way he goes the man was just as dangerous m.j the G.O.A.T23
No he got driven left that first play gave it off then went to his right. The third play he went left then back right and got fouled going left the second one he went left. The other was a great mid post move
Jesus, this version of Jordan was so exciting

Why do you mention Jesus? What does it have to do with the Lord?
@@superedits9450 that's not the Messiahs name either, there's no J in the Hebrew so, it's Yahawashi Hamashyach.
@@superedits9450 and you most likely worship Tammuz, who is mentioned in Ezekiel 8:14, which is the semitic version of Horus, aka Nimrod in the Bible. That's the god of the church, and of all religions tbh, you worshipping the Babylonian Kemetic mystery school system. The Most High is not dealing with religion, he deals with laws, statutes, and commandments, and they were only given to one nation of people.
What’s crazy is Dennis Johnson is one of the greatest perimeter defenders to ever live n he makes him look like nothing
Absolutely, Michael Jordan just kept blowing past Dennis Johnson during the series. MJ had a very quick first step off the dribble. Johnson and the rest of the Celtics could not stop MJ
This was a young Jordan carrying the Bulls teams on his back. And doing whatever it takes to keep them alive. His teams weren't even on the same level as Celtics/Lakers/Pistons team were. From 87-89.
The scissor kick fadeaway at 2:20 is some of the finest looking movements in basketball. Beautiful
u gotta love this. everybody knows and we all have seen the 63 point thrashing, but the 1st game was almost as marvelous, and if ur a true jordan fan u love all this shit just the same.
Announcer at 3:20 : "you gotta tire him out and make him play defense"
Jordan on next play : "ok, I'll show you some defense"
MJ the GOAT he’s been the most spectacular , graceful and productive player who’s ever played the game.
This game is largely forgotten because of what happened in the next game but wow Jordan was unstoppable! The same couldn't be said about the rest of the team however.
@@zt1053 They certainly focused on him more than they did in the previous 2 games. However, after scoring 49, then 63 and losing both, Jordan was clearly not trying to score too much in game 3 and was having more of an all around role instead. Could have finished with a triple double, but fouled out due to some bad calls.
I always enjoy watching the footwork, and how he would size up up the defense and leverage his handles (not bad for a tall guard) He was such a threat to really go any direction he wanted. Surprised they did not look to double or try to disrupt his dribble earlier in his ISOs- perhaps that was the plan though, let MJ dominate the ball and everyone else stands around watching.
I recall fans and opponents asking back then, "does this boy never get tired?! He's outrunning and outjumping everyone for 48 minutes."
That spin move at the 2:20 mark. Wow. That same move is on JORDAN 42 vs Celtics 1988 with Danny ainge guarding him
Yeah, Doc Rivers calls it the "washing machine" move. Jordan had Johnson in blender right there. He shook the shit out of him!!! You can hear the crowd in awe after Jordan made that move. Anfernee Hardaway, Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony used it too.
And from the 2:16 mark to the 2:20 mark you see Jordan moving and weaving thru the defense "without" the ball in his hands. Something most great scorers will not do today. Imho
Most obvious comment ever made @ :52 "You are really at a disadvantage guarding Michael Jordan." Well, yes.
Tommy was reaching for straws in his commentary about how to stop that Jordan guy... LOL
I'll always remember watching this game and noticing the Celtic guard throw up his hands in frustration and resignation after the unstoppable MJ easily faked him out for yet another amazing basket (4:11).
I think that Celtic guard was future champion coach Rick Carlisle... the poor guy... LOL
Insane speed
Jordans 49 points in the playoffs against a prime Bird & Celtics was a nice warm up to his game 2. 63points.
MrYoumitube not even his prime yet second year inna league , prime probably when he won his rings . but no disrespect to your opinion of his prime
He made the best team in the league look foolish, but the Celtics won that series in a sweep because they were the far superior team.
Nunya Business And I respect MJ and his fans for not blaming his teammates and the organization for the loss and not switching teams in the offseason.
Well...they did fire coach Stan Albeck. Somebody was gonna take that bullet as far as Bulls management was concerned.
Mike McGrath well the Celtics couldn’t stop MJ but they stopped the rest of the bulls. The Celtics were a great team and MJ couldn’t beat them by himself, but he did more than any other player could do by themselves
At age 23 in his second season. Btw he missed most that season as well. He did this against a team that won 67 games and went 15-3 in the playoffs that year. Man young MJ was so fun to watch 😭😭. So skilled, athletic, quick and smooth. That move at 2:22 was insane
Thank you UA-cam. I'm here watching a young Mike, greatness, in it's rawess form. It all makes sense now, his future, this game makes it make sense. He was making 4 future hall of famers look silly, in his FIRST playoff game. C'mon! Check that, 5 future hall of famers. C'mon!
Air motherfuckin Jordan dominating in there
A young Michael Jordan... I saw most of his games in the 80s. He was literally unguardable at this stage of his career. When the opposing team's fans are cheering for MJ, that should tell all you need to know.
Got to give it to Michael Jordan, his team got their asses kicked, but he kept playing. Lebron would've quit midway through the 3rd
yep. today they would have taken Jordan out too. they pamper players too much today.
On his second year
Nobody brings up that Dennis Johnson score like 20 in the 2nd half 🤷🏿♂️
@@Diaz23 I didn't realize he passed already, that's sad, RIP to him. He was considered an amazing defender and great player.
@@billj4525 Yes, sadly DJ passed in 2007..but his game will live forever with these videos.."there's a steal by Bird!,, Underneath to DJ who lays it in!" Classic play! Rip DJ!
Ah be god damn. If Jordan had that team from 1991 to 1993. That team would have ate them celtics up. He had help the boy they would have been thru. Boy Boy Boy........
Nah, Celtics were too big for that 91-93 team. Boston would out shoot them and out rebound them.
classic Michael Air Jordan!
so he had 49 before 63??!!!SMH
And the 1 man show still lost this game and every playoff game to Boston...
@@erocksolshooter2321 Because his team sucked. Imagine if he had a prime Pippen, veteran Rodman, good supporting cast, and Phil coaching. Things might have been different
@@erocksolshooter2321 It's a sports game, the Bulls lost. At the end it doesn't matter this, what it matters is what he achieved in his Career.
The G.O.A.T.
@@erocksolshooter2321 well, it's a team game. It doesn't matter what you do score if they can score back from your defending team mates. Boston had lost to them though on regular season.
I forgot how silly MJ used to make DJ look...
He put up points in his young days, as a player.
McHale and T.Hardaway always yelling 😂😂
This is coming back only playing like 12 games after having a broken foot...... G.O.A.T
2:20 my goodness
This #23 kid has a chance to be pretty good.
Jesus Christ 2:19 what a move
And final score Celtics 123 Bulls 104.
Celts, as a team, were just too good... they only lost one game at Boston during the regular season on the way to the chip
if mj had Hakeem with him as his center they would've swept this Celtics team. mj was burnt out by game 3 he just needed help and the games were close
He missed 2 of his last 3 FT's too. Should've had 50.
Jordan scoring 49 and 63 on a 40-1 home team
Mike McGrath
Yes but MJ the best player couldn’t beat a great team by himself. But he knew how to score against them.
@@JS-nd1po No one was ever stopping MJ from scoring. I don't care how good the team was.
GOD: Jordan from 1984-89. CHRIST: JORDAN FROM 1990- 1998
poor rick carlisle smh
Celts knew how to let jordan shoot w noone else involved. Noone wins that way. Just like the previous generation celts won 11 to wilts 2, letting him clean up the stats and the celts the rings. Chess not checkers. Jordan def is the best individual player but he didn't start winning till all the smart team players got old and retired.
@@cowboys4ever348 right! Jordan won in 1991, nobody was old or retired yet
@@darrellhardy90 The pistons weren't old. Isiah was 29, Dumars 27, Rodman 29.
What do you think would of happened if Jordan had a prime Pippen, veteran Rodman & Phil coaching them?
It's easier to trust your teammates when they're actually good. Passing more doesn't mean you win more
@@cowboys4ever348 Thank you for educating these morons. It's very funny that a lot of Bird fans try to use these victories to diminish Jordan's legacy and elevate Bird's. Whenever Bird faced other great squads he generally came up short.
>He had a feud with Magic in college-and Magic won. He also had another feud with Magic in the NBA-Magic was the victor in those games as well.
>He had a feud with Dr. J in 80, 81, and 82. And Dr. J won that feud 2-1. Bird didn't win against the Sixers again until the 1985 playoffs when they were no longer a threat.
>He's split with the Pistons. 1-1.
Yet, Bird fans are trying to give Bird credit because his dynasty destroyed a garbage Bulls squad. Think about that for a second. That "accomplishment" disrespects Bird's legacy more than anything.
He tried to do it differently in game 3 and share the ball more and it was a disaster they were blown out immediately.. it was the only chance they had to win was him going crazy on offense
MJ was doing that fade away in his first game in 84 and 86 so I don’t know what they mean when they say he came back after 2nd retirement w a fade away..you see it for yourselves in 86
The point is that he barely did it. He always had options and tons of moves, but the fade away was pretty rare for him, he gradually added it in more and more over time. When he came back from his first retirement he started using the post up and fade away a lot more. If you're curious check out the highlights, it's pretty clear.
Look how easily he’s palming the ball at 4:01 lol
Remember he only played 18 games in his second season and had a great playoffs, just like in the 95 season when he only played 17 games and had a great playoffs too. But, then suddenly they lost to the magic in 6 games. Here, they lost to the Celtics.
The seasons are very different. Jordan was rusty and was playing baseball in 90s, he really played badly when he came back to play again, his stats were way down, and he made some horrible plays to lose to the magic in playoffs, which is why he worked so hard in the off season to get back his skills for 95-96, which turned out to be an amazing season. In the 80s, he was still practicing and playing while injured, he was completely unstoppable, but the bulls sucked. 63 is a record that has never been broken in the playoffs, and he did it vs the celtics.
goodness... 1 on 5 is normally not possible. i mean u can try but the odds of finishing... so good already. he already put the hoops world on notice in his rookie 85 campaign.and this playoff game 1 wasn't even televised by CBS nationally.
So he did out of 36 shots he shoots 18 wow
0.28
for ALL of his Greatness, Jordan never beat a healthy Larry Bird in a playoff series. STILL, Jordan was incredible.
Its not a 1 v 1 game. The 86 Celtics were the greatest Celtics team. Jordan's team wasnt nearly as good. But Jordan still did his thing. They couldnt guard him
The Celtics were in a zone on almost all of these highlights lol. These kids think that zone wasn't used in MJ's era.
Jordan really had no help. Woolridge could score but had a substance abuse problem that affect his play. At 6-9 he didn't get many rebounds or blocks. And the next season after this was even worse considering Jordan's top supporting cast was Oakley, Corzine and Paxson.
For the dingbats still asking/commenting on MJ'S inability to beat this celtics team even once; there are 4 HALL OF FAMERS in the celtics starting 5!
I wish Heinsohn would stop pretending like he knew how to guard MJ. Nothing he suggested work. I'm pretty sure if the professionals trying to guard him are struggling like that then it must be pretty hard. It's easy to say what you would do when you are on the sidelines
Some people say that Celtics were plumbers...Now yes i will agree they wasnt the most athletic BUT as a collective your not beaten them...everyone played their position and played it well. I remember as a kid when i played ball, i used to be the flashy, crossovers, dunks and there was this old Filipino guy, calm, no flashy moves just fundamentals....I could NEVER beat him, and it used to frustrate me as thought to himself..WTF..im better you, you cant ever do a crossover. Moral is being athletic and able to do flashy moves like todays NBA wont always cut it.
Bulls got swept, MJ averaging 45 PPG shooting 56%FG, Somehow LeBron fans believe they can discredit him after a series like that... Lol
Basically a young MJ vs. The Mighty Celtics (who ended up winning the chip that year) 🐐
He got some foul calls which weren't even foul..
this is so bad they don’t play any defense at all
Celts used to laugh about playing bate defense w jordan, letting him score and not passing to others. They were too smart and knew that was the easiest way to win. But Jordan was good also.
Don’t agree this is his prime i’m a jordan fan , my favorite player ever but his prime was when he won his rings , Finally getting help after getting beat by a solid bucks team lol more team help than his weak team showed here the year later & pistons & celtics again. you get it lmao
King Dnote his prime was 87-93 no player is beating that kind of stretch
His athletic prime was 89 I think. Superhuman strength and speed at that time.
lebron would run these guys out the gym
Yeah right.. they'd be running out of the gym with the W, while LeBron would be pouting to the media that he needs better teammates.
dude your watching highlights try watching a whole game and see what happened to players when they went to the hole.
One man show and still lost . That's why they say there is know I in team .
the Bulls had no chance really, aside from the heroics of MJ... I think they were just 32-50 and barely reached the 8th playoff spot in the East... LOL... this Boston team won 67, I think....
MJ so sick he got the great Boston homer Tommy Heinsohn gasping on the air during the game 😂
