Hey, you two - I have to tell you, you're going to have to watch Memorable all over again. In order to feel the full impact, it's truly essential to know what they're saying and who they're saying it to. Before their 2022 US tour, the band members, having been under Covid's death grip for a couple of years, were seeing their US shows sell out one after another. But they were still doubtful (if you can believe it) that we'd really "show up", both literally and in terms of getting into their music. Well, let me tell you of my experience seeing them in California. From before they came on (where fans were chanting Band Maid! Band Maid! REALLY loud) to during the show when the audience participation comes in and the singalong parts, to the final cheers after they exited the stage - the CROWD WAS DEAFENING. I have never in my 100's of concerts experienced such a MASSIVE display of adoration. Not in a fanboy, 10 year old girl kind of way, but a geniune thank you to a band that helped us all through hard times. Now - watch again, and know that those lyrics were to you. To us. To Maidiacs all over the world. "You showed me that last night" - that was to the fans. The songs' lyrics are all to the fans. Now see how that impacts your reaction to the song. Cheers, and oh - @Ohrenje made a video about the song About Us, which is also essential to the enjoyment of that song - also to the fans during the worst part of covid. What. A. Band.
@@TJandTheGringa Of course! And remember in the Kanami documentary where they showed that part on the bus where she was singing the idea for a song to Saiki? Well that is this song.

When "Bubble" was chosen as the theme song for the TV-drama, Kanami did not have time to write a coupling song for the single, so she asked Kentaro Akutsu, who composed "Thrill" and other songs, to compose "Smile," and Miku wrote the lyrics. This acoustic version of Smile is the very best there is and my all time fave. Just pure quality and is the bonus track on their Online Live Okyu-ji DVD 2021. Memorable (Feb 2023) was written to thank the US fans after their tour in 2022. PLEASE READ THIS- There are many things that the fans did during the 2022 and 2023 tours. You need to know about the Dawn Patrol- fans who arrived at the venues before sunrise or earlier, to get on the front rail. Bar towels that were specially printed for any birthdays of band members and huge bouquets of flowers and birthday cakes delivered to the venues. The guys who bought up any spear tickets and gave them to Reactors and others who could not afford them, including VIP's given to families etc. Organising lifts by those who had vehicles, to venues once fans managed to get there. Fans at the front giving gifts to the band members at the end of shows and so much more. The young girl in a maid outfit called to the front of the stage by Miku and given a guitar pick- Akane did the same with drumsticks. Many of these events were filmed by fans and can be found on youtube.
The majestic beauty (that's the only way I can describe it) of Band-Maid's superb musicianship and song-writing is on full display with their acoustic performances. Saiki's vocals in "Smile" are to die for they are so divine.
A few things about Miku. Miku (red flower, second vocalist, more than backup vocalist) is the front person of the band. She came up with the concept, put together the members, writes almost all of the lyrics, is stage boss, tirelessly promotes the band, started as lead singer but stepped back to get a stronger rock singer, learned a big part of guitar AFTER the band started, can sing both higher and lower than the lead vocalist. I mean, there's way more to her, but that gives you the general idea. No Band-Maid without her, so she's my favourite hands down.
The Queens of positive motivation! Notice how the images of the particles and swirls in the background are silver/gray and raining downwards throughout the verses. But when the final chorus begins the particles are raining upwards and are bright gold. Psychologically very uplifting and positive. I LOVE this band!
Having been one of those lucky peeps who got to see Band Maid in October 2022 (in Philly), Memorable (written for the fans) always hits a little different for moi ♥
Smile makes you cry and Memorable is unforgettable. Both songs were written to the fans, because they love us as much as we love them. Whether Miku is running through Tokyo or walking in the California desert, the pigeon is always spreading the love in her tall heels. 🕊 Miku wrote the lyrics for both songs.
Two of the three "for the fans" songs. And that's just another reason we love our Maids. How many bands write a song for their fans to show how much they appreciate them...let alone do 3 of them. That show is the bonus blu ray for the deluxe version of Epic Narratives. I look forward to your next video! Be well.
Misa is like an astronaut floating in space but attached to the Maids...and you know she's there orbiting, somewhere, the Band Maid Space Rock Station. ( but she will be back for dinner with Miku and Kanami too ). Maybe Kanami needs to be caught up by pulling the cord.
Not sure if I remember any band writing songs about their fans but these ladies have a few. I believe they invited one of the writers who wrote songs for them at their start to write Smile with them. If you follow the bands on social media they announce tour dates there. Asterisim even post little shot covers of pretty much everything I have ever heard. Do yourself a favor and join the Band-Maid fan club. You get offers that you can only get there. The latest is an Acoustic CD.
The live footage from the Memorable MV was shot at Tokyo Garden Theatre where the the song was premiered. I was lucky enough to be at that concert and been lucky enough to be to many others. If you get to Japan next year I might see you there
Thanks for sharing your feelings about these gems. I doubt there are many dry maidiac eyes in the house during Memorable, especially among those of us who were at that fateful post-covid US 2022 tour which motivated its creation.
On "Memorable", Band-Maid's videographer did an AMAZING job of shooting Miku in the desert. By the way, the desert footage was shot in the Joshua Tree National Park in California.
Someone give Miku a lift! It's gotta be hell walking in the desert in those big ol heels! Band-Maid knows no boundaries. They could do a Country/Polka mix and somehow make it amazing. ...Wait, Weird Al already did that, didn't he? Well, point still stands. One thing we haven't seen yet. A song where Saiki is the back-up. Whenever Miku sings lead, Saiki is given a break. I am curious how Kanami would write a song meant to have Saiki be the back-up vocalist. It'd be like giving Kanami a new tool to use in her writing.
Memorable was primarily composed by Kanami, with lyrics by Miku & Saiki. Kanami began composing this during their October 2022 US tour. There's video of her playing her demo version for Saiki (including the basic vocal melody, but no lyrics) from the US tour behind the scenes disk included with the limited edition Tokyo Garden Theater concert Blu-ray. The concert footage was from the Tokyo Garden Theater concert in January 2023 (the song's debut) and the desert footage of Miku was recorded in February 2023 when Band-Maid was in the US opening for the Last Rockstars. We all know who the real rock stars are.
If one went to one of their U.S. shows in the fall on 2022 this track is hard to watch without tearing up because they wrote it for us. Not many bands write love letters to their fans, these women have done it a couple times with this one and About Us.
Jimmy & Gringa , Memorable was a Thank you and Love song to the fans written during the 2022 tour , I saw them in Seattle WA the 1st one-man show of the tour , we sure did give them a warm welcome n lots of love , they had that wide eyed look when they came out on stage and the audience went crazy , Like you Jimmy being 1 of the Million viewers of Thrill , I and the rest of the people that attended the shows of the 2022 tour were all part of the reason for Memorable .
Wow, this is the first time I realised that in this version of Smile (Acoustic), Miku does not initially strum alongside Kanami in the opening sequence (but just plays the first note of the sequences). In the Christmas Acoustic however, she actually does strum alongside her teacher. Miku really did completely level up in that Christmas Acoustic of 2021. It is a worthy note that in Memorable, Kanami was on electric guitars, so the entire acoustic parts of the song was completely played by Miku alone. Heck, this combo sounds seriously amazingly good to me. On top of that, Miku is doing secondary vocals, making her the member most comfortable with doing both at the same time. Considering her lack of background on guitar at the start of Band-Maid, she has earned my utmost respect for her dedication to mastering all of these stuff. Oh, if you wish to watch the full Christmas Acoustic concert of 2021, you can just subscribe to Band-Maid Prime. They still have the full concert at that site (in 3 parts). Totally worth subscribing to, if only to just watch this concert, yet they have so much more.
Band-Maid played Memorable at the 2023 Charlotte okyuji and it was a standout song, which I guess you could say is redundant. It was written to thank the fans from their sold-out 2022 World Domination Tour, which I also attended. In fact, Mincho wanted to call it "An Ode To JohnMatthew", but the other members thought that was little too on the nose.😁
I am planning a trip to Japan as well for either September or October. I really hope to see some good shows! So far, Band-Maid has announced dates in May and June in Japan, while LOVEBITES have shows across Japan January through March. Regardless, there are going to be many great acts playing any given week, so my hopes are high!
SMILE was from an online streamed okyu-ji during the plague years. Sensei Kanami keeps half an eye on her pupil, Miku, throughout - and seems happy with our little pigeon as she keeps playing the counterpoint to Kanami's guitar perfectly. A brilliant Kanami composition where everyone gets to shine. 🤘🤘 Do you remember on the Kanami documentary where Kanami and Saiki were sat in a hotel room and Kanami sang a song to her so Saiki could get a grasp of the vocals? That song was Memorable and Kanami wrote it as a thank you to the US fans who were the first to get to welcome them back on tour after the plague finished. Kanami was a bit nervous that people would have forgotten them and was so overwhelmed by the welcome they received wherever they performed that, in her genius way, she casually composed yet another superb song, Memorable. The video with Miku was filmed in the desert outside Lancaster, California, close to but not in the Joshua National Park, probably around the time they performed nearby on their US tour. ❤🤘
Smile, Kentaro Akutsu is credited with the music, both him and the band for the arrangement, and Miku for the lyrics. Kentaro Akutsu has worked with the band a lot, writing a lot of the material in Maid in Japan, and most famously, Thrill. And you might want to check out Bridear, who will be touring in the USA next year. ua-cam.com/video/-4GF7NjiPkg/v-deo.html
The old pickup truck with the upright piano in the back was accidental. It happened to drive by when they were recording the video so they kept it in the video. Band-Maid was the opening act for "The Last Rockstars" a Japanese "super-group" in NYC and LA. There was a long break between the NYC and LA shows, so they recorded the desert scenes during then.
@@ericifune5543 How do you know its a piano in the truck , looks more like a new refrigerator still in the box , yes the truck coming through was by accident , they were filming with a drone nobody else out there but Miku , I heard it was an older couple in the truck , they stopped n talked to Miku , can you imagine driving in the desert coming across a woman in a Maid outfit carrying a guitar case , but it is California .
Their video of "About Us", is now essential viewing for you guys. It's another love letter to their fans. Even makes this old bloke's eyes leak, even though it isn't a sad song. Just from the sheer beauty of it. ua-cam.com/video/qicgVAxCYV8/v-deo.html

Miku, as you may already know, is the second lead vocalist of Band-Maid. Saiki once said, Miku has something I don't have, and I have something she doesn't. While I prefer Saiki's vocal more, Miku has songs that are so infectious that you can't help smiling.
Regarding Smile. The studio version is a tad faster and, of course, electric guitars. But, I think the band has pretty much abandoned that version for this arrangement. They might revisit the studio version someday.
@@TJandTheGringa Cool. Oh, fyi, Kanami-san didn't compose the music for Smile. She decided to contract Akutsu Kentaro-san for this track. She learned a lot from him during the early Band-Maid years as he's one of the more "chosen" songwriters. She highly respects him, I believe.
SMILE - Lyrics Miku Kobato, music Kentaro Akutsu(Thrill) (not Kanami, although released in 2019). I tried to see your reaction to other artists. I can't. It feels like I'm spying on my wife cheating on me with the neighbor. You can know it, but you can't see it.😄 Only BAND-MAID forever!!!🤘

I don't hear 'Smile' enough. Thanks for that. "Memorable' is awesome, though I find 'About Us' more powerful - maybe it's just me. Even 'Endless Story' LIVE is just more emotional, but that's because it was the last song of the 10 Year Anniversary tour Finale. It's funny you say MISA is Extra Terrestrial. They each did a design for Zippo Lighters. MISA's was of a Flying Saucer inscribed with her motto, "Alcohol Is Necessary". Saiki & Miku go together like Lennon & McCartney and Strummer & Jones. Some voices are just meant to be together. Yes, Miku is the Lyricist. He words read like poetry! She will get input from Saiki if a line isn't cool enough. Saiki has started writing songs of her own. 'Hate?' is one of hers.
It's funny, because these are one of my most and one of my least favorite Band-Maid songs. Smile is so incredibly beautiful, especially this acoustic version. In fact, my favorite Saiki vocal performance ever 🥰 Memorable on the other hand, I simply can't find a connection to that one. I wasn't part in what its about. I'm also afraid you'd have to go to Japan in the first half of next year. Lovebites are touring between January and March, Band-Maid between May and the end of June. But at least I'm sure to see ASTERISM live again here in Germany in August next year, as they're coming over to an Anime convention 😊

Misa is like an astronaut floating in space but attached to the Maids...and you know she's there orbiting, somewhere, the Band Maid Space Rock Station. ( but she will be back for dinner with Miku and Kanami too ). Maybe Kanami needs to be caught up by pulling the cord.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AKANE !!!!!😍🦍🍌🥡🍾
What more can be said about these women ❤💛💚💙🧡💜.
2 great feel good songs 😊
What can you say......so FRIGGIN BEAUTIFUL! BAND-MAID is EPIC!
You probably won't have to travel to Japan to see them in 25. Chances are real good US tour dates will be announced in next few months
Is there any limit to this band's brilliance? C'mon man! Outrageous!
The Maids are masters at genre melding, transitions, riff production, structure, execution, and Smiles! ;-)) Thx, J / G!
💗💗
Actually near Palmdale, CA.
About 2 hours NW of Joshua Tree. 1.5 hours NE of LA.
I never call Miku a backup vocalist but a second vocalist. Much closer to the truth.
💯‼️
Yes yes!! Go see them in Japan! I’m planning my second trip !!
"Too much is always better than not enough" :) hehe
❤️
Loved the reaction!!!!! Today is Akane's Birthday!!!!! So much to say but not sure how to say it shortly!!!!! Thank you for what you do!!!!!
Happy Bday Akane!!
Have a great weekend guys!
You too!🤘
Band-Maid is playing in Japan mainly in June. The second round of lotteries is currently open.
don't tempt me Frodo! 😃
Me wants the Precious!!
❤️❤️ Thnx for the info and ofr watching!!
♥️🤘
yeah i mostly listen to driving stuff but for band maid songs i dont even skip the the slower ones
Band-Maid played Memorable at the 2023 Charlotte okyuji and it was a standout song, which I guess you could say is redundant. It was written to thank the fans from their sold-out 2022 World Domination Tour, which I also attended. In fact, Mincho wanted to call it "An Ode To JohnMatthew", but the other members thought that was little too on the nose.😁
last song is all about us fans they do that always enless story my fav band-maid song is one of them
While on their US tour in 2022 they decided to write memorable AND do a music video out in the California desert between shows.
fan appreciation songs cool
i knew u 2 were nice hugs for u 2 lolz
did u 2 do nightwish floor from my country not sure yt is a jungle after all
I am planning a trip to Japan as well for either September or October. I really hope to see some good shows! So far, Band-Maid has announced dates in May and June in Japan, while LOVEBITES have shows across Japan January through March. Regardless, there are going to be many great acts playing any given week, so my hopes are high!
Nice reaction guys, i hope one day react on Daydreaming MV is a Masterpiece. 🤘🤘🤘💯
I think it is Antelope Valley CA
@@bandmaidfanATL Somewhere in America.
Hell Yes!.. I totally remember that part .. So cool that this is that song!

The driver had no idea, bur agreed for the truck and piano to be part of the video.
Only ABOUT US is missing😊
Can't wait for that one. Also "Wonderland", that lovely less often reacted to, MISA driven, dream like song.
We will def get to it 😃..thnx for watching!!
I saw Band-Maid during the 22' tour Miku is singing to me❤😊😅
Love the first song and the video of the second song seeing Miku walking through the desert. I can only think to myself. Yes Miku you built that !
Hi guys..may I suggest Band Maid / Youth, Day of Maid....(live)😉
Noted!! 💓
Their video of "About Us", is now essential viewing for you guys. It's another love letter to their fans. Even makes this old bloke's eyes leak, even though it isn't a sad song. Just from the sheer beauty of it. ua-cam.com/video/qicgVAxCYV8/v-deo.html
Thank you we will check it out🤘🕊️
I ❤❤❤band maid

I really hope they play in the fall sometime! 🤞. You will have an amazing time in May and we are so happy for you !! Thank you for posting the current dates‼️❤️
@@TJandTheGringa Thank you🙏
Was an acoustic version of "Smile" requested? It's more often heard than the regular version.
He didn't specify..just mentioned names of the songs. We really enjoyed this version though 😃
While the different acoustic versions are all fantastic, I think the original ofttimes gets overlooked.
🤩
Another beautiful one is Page. No video though.
🕊👀❤🥃
Miku, as you may already know, is the second lead vocalist of Band-Maid. Saiki once said, Miku has something I don't have, and I have something she doesn't. While I prefer Saiki's vocal more, Miku has songs that are so infectious that you can't help smiling.
Regarding Smile. The studio version is a tad faster and, of course, electric guitars. But, I think the band has pretty much abandoned that version for this arrangement. They might revisit the studio version someday.
We will check that version out for sure! 😃
@@TlanImass Thanks for the info! ❤️
..Love learning these little facts 😃
Plzz rect to MISSIONED SOUL cover of BESTIE by BANDMAID❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
SMILE - Lyrics Miku Kobato, music Kentaro Akutsu(Thrill) (not Kanami, although released in 2019).
I tried to see your reaction to other artists. I can't. It feels like I'm spying on my wife cheating on me with the neighbor. You can know it, but you can't see it.😄 Only BAND-MAID forever!!!🤘
🤣😂. Fair enough‼️🍺🍺
Maybe, you should not travel to Japan in the Fall 2025 because I got a sense that they may be touring the World, Po! In fact, they may have a show near you! Btw, they have Japan tour dates set from May 10, 2025 through the end of Jun 2025. It would be a bummer if you guys missed each other, lol! 🦍🍌
please return to America next year! 🤞
We will keep an eye out for this schedule for sure! Thank you!
You should have done them in the opposite order so your title would have been MEMORABLE SMILE ;) .
Nice one!
Haha..True!
In fact, my favorite Saiki vocal performance ever 🥰
Memorable on the other hand, I simply can't find a connection to that one.
Can you guys react to toosie slide by drake I think you guys would like it
Noted! Been a while since we checked out Drake. Thnx!
@ I forgot to say music video mb but can’t wait to see you guys reaction
Why are you always so biased and giving ❤️ marks? I will no longer comment on your channel and I will unsubscribe.
There is no bias..its hard to keep up with comments sometimes since there are so many. I tend to go back always and reread and heart as many as possible..but unfortunately alot grt missed but in no way done deliberately ... Sorry to see you go and that you got that impression...still wish you well and a happy holiday season.
@ Understood. Thanks for your reply. But please understand that this is not just my opinion, and I thought it was disrespectful to everyone who commented. I like your reaction video , so I will subscribe again.
@cats-eyes Thank you!.. I don't mean any disrespect..i read all comments and try my best ti interact with as many as I can. We appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you for coming back. I look forward to more comments from you 😃
