    One of (if not THE) founding fathers of ambient music. Thank you Brian!!!

    That was a lovely interview! The interviewer asked very good questions and Eno replied in his usual very thought-provoking fashion. There is actually quite a lot of ideas revealed in that interview to be unpacked. I wish I were 1/10 as creative as Brian Eno.

    I've been listening to Eno Music since the early 70's. I've amassed some beautiful paintings with Music for Airports playing in the background. Brian is a treasure.

    Just bought the bio, "On Some Faraway Beach" and I am very intrigued about this man's childhood and youth. I have so many of the albums and know so little about him.
    Interesting chat here, too.

    I find brian eno articulate and generous, I find myself agreeing with almost everything he talks about, he really is a man who will probably be appreciated for a very long time into the future I feel primitive and backward in comparison as an artist, i love his way of looking at life, art ,music and culture. Never boring.

    He always has something interesting to say, I had this on in the background whilst I was working - kind of 'ambient inspiration' if you will let me get away with such a phrase

      A shrewd remark, and very true. I'm sure Eno would be pleased. He spreads a germ and it germinates beyond his control, yet he has intent.

    Seems to me, the "art world" is full of people saying simple things in a complicated, cluttered way. Eno strikes me as just the reverse of that. For all his critical accolades, he is incredibly unpretentious and straightforward. I could listen to him talk indefinitely. An intellectual, in every (good) sense of that word.

    Been watching a few of these Eno interviews. He often gets asked the same questions and gives, basically, the same answers, but he seems to avoid over thinking about things, and like some creative oracle, he responds quickly, and concisely with his own ideas and formulas. It can be repetitive, and a bit hit and miss, and you can take it or leave it, but you will generally benefit from his vision, and years of experience. If not, you will at least, learn different processes and ways of doing things.

    Very nice interview, and all respect for Brian Eno and his music. But he didn't invent ambient music. Vangelis was much earlier. IN 1970 he recorded the soundtrack for the documentary "apocalypse des animaux". Check it out.

    I really enjoyed watching this. For a long time, I pre-judged him because of his dressing like a woman. Weird...but he's a very interesting man, and innovative. And nice-looking, too! No matter what he's dressed as. Sometimes I think blind people are at an advantage because they can't judge people based on appearance . I'm now a really big fan of Eno's. I was all wrong. Saw this when I saw a Bowie video. This quarantine has actually opened my mind. They say 'seek to understand rather than be understood"! Like, are others different from me, or am I diffferent from others! So many misconceptions. Yet it doesn't have to mean I compromise my beliefs; just make room for others'!

    From Roxy to today, I have most albums he has been involved in. My favourite is the first encounter with Robert Fripp. Saw them perform at the London Palladium of all places. Very ambient, very very ambient but very clever stuff.

    Brian Eno has never produced David Bowie. He worked with Bowie as a co-creator and ideas man. Tony Visconti was the producer on the so called "Berlin Trilogy"; Low, Heroes & Lodger.

    • @da-p6814
      @da-p6814 3 роки тому

      where's the line between producer and co-creator though? are they really seperate things outside of album credits (especially when talking about Eno)? Also Visconti added some ideas as well which were pivotal to the sound of the records. You can't argue Eno wasn't the producer of Talking Heads, yet he was clearly a co-creator and "ideas man" on a lot of their material.

    • @stuartwray6175
      @stuartwray6175 4 місяці тому +1

      Eno once said that Visconti's contribution to those albums is perhaps unfairly under-appreciated, overlooked. He said that Visconti was vital in somehow being able to shape tracks out of the desperate sounds, musical fragments he and Bowie had accumulated/amassed during the studio sessions.

    Just wondering, couldn't the music for airports also be used for supermarkets and phone-waits? I've had to leave supermarkets because of the abrasive 'noise' of speakers

    • @da-p6814
      @da-p6814 3 роки тому

      Don't really think the vibe would fit, but it certainly would be better than what they do already. never have I come as close to going off music in general as I was when I worked in retail. I don't think anybody would complain if supermarkets were just silent to be honest

    The worst writing in the world comes out of the contemporary art world. Without any doubt there's nothing worse in terms of sheer.... incoherence actually. First of all "the inability to express a thought clearly" and secondly... "the lack of any thoughts". So you have no thoughts, inarticulately expressed. It really is the worst kind of writing you can get... So well said, thank you Brian Eno. A handicapped-confused-cut and paste type frantically hurried "nothing" is what we've got now at our disposal unfortunately.

    • @Vingul

      Doubt he did it for the money, considering they formed a relatively obscure group called "Passengers" instead of going as "U2 & Brian Eno" for instance.. agree with your view on the tossers though.

    So, but "Ambient Music" is nothing but the electronic minimalist music which began on the West Coast starting in 71 with composers like Ingram marshall and Harold Budd, but with a different name. Eno is a brilliant, brilliant man - but this genre was not his, only his name was
