  • In this video (part two in the series) I will be continuing my walk along the Norfolk Coast Path, a long distance trail following the beautiful, rich coastline of North Norfolk, carrying everything I need and wild camping along the way.
In this episode, I wake up to a stunning Norfolk morning in the marshes and after a quick breakfast, pack up and get back on the trail. I walk through Burnham Overy and out past the beautiful saltwater lagoon and out towards the dunes. The journey then continues along the sandy beaches leading towards Holkham before swinging beside the pine woodland and on towards Wells Next To The sea. This old fishing port and busy seaside hot spot marks the end of this leg of the trail. But I will return soon to continue along this stunning and unique coastline, and continue to give you a taste of North Norfolk.
I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

My family holidayed in Wells next the sea back in the seventies. Doesn't look like it has changed much.
Surprised you didn't do this one on your bike. Could have made life a little more comfortable.

Gee, Simon, how do you find the time to do all these videos? And your videos are getting better and better with this one topping! I keep hoping to land a typical English recipe into the bargain. Love the bird sounds!and a windmill to boot! Oh what a lovely video. I love your enthusiasm and down to earth comments, advice and tips. I feel I am tramping along with you. Sniff that sea air... She sells sea shells on the Sea shore.
Now your viewer clicks are currently 19,875 . Are we, your viewers, going to score when you reach 20 K? That won't take too long! Cheers.

Nice video again Simon- I spent a week going round the coast from Southwold to Hunstanton in my best up old Campervan before it blew up lol. One word of warning though- there used to be a nudist beach nr Holkham so unless you are keen on oap wrinkly bits it’s best to look seaward when passing by lol

A familiar area to me mate, walked the whole thing. didn't know they are planning to extend it to Hopton, thats quite a trek! I'm planning to do Cromer to Lowestoft in the next month or so, I'll have then walked the entire East Anglian coast! The intro to this part was spectacular btw, the way the music stopped as you started walking off was pure class! I love little touches like that, good editing skills! That stretch down to Wells from Holkham gap is so long, takes ages to walk! Amazed you carried a drone too and still went so light! As for that flat spot to wild camp, I'm DEFINITELY going there lol. Can't wait for the next instalment mate.

I loved walking this section - Holkham especially! The extended route is up and running I believe - my plan is to walk the lot in stages, then back to the start of the Peddars Way via a couple of other trails. 😁 the camera gear weighed more than the rest of my kit combined!! Oh, how I suffer for my art! 😂

    Couple of things occur ...
I remember that coast week from a long stint living in Rutland before my personal brexit many years back. Wells is nice enough but the chips are better Whitby (northern bias may be a part of that comment).
Having watched both videos, I’m pleased not to be walking with you, it’s a hell of a march pace you put on there, I’d still be feeling the tussocks myself ... but happy with it.

Hi Simon, really enjoying your videos. Are you going to complete the section from Wells to Cromer soon. This is a really interesting section of the walk, what with the Stiffkey Whirlygig, Moreston, Blakeney, Weybourne & Sherringham for the railway, not to mention the Beeston Bump. Looking forward to it already, although a wild camp may be a challenge to far.
    Regards Stewart

Thanks Stewart, yes, I’m planning on continuing over the winter period when it’s all a bit quieter. Looking forward to the next section. 👍

To answer your question, yes i would believe you found a better spot to camp 30 minutes into the following day. Same as you probably spot fantastic wild camping spots between 3 and 5 pm when its way to early to stop. iv'e had that dilemma 101 times when bike packing, then ending up panicking to find a spot before it gets dark. Ended up in a cow shed one night, but i'll spare you the details on that one.
Must have been tough to stop with that great weather, i'll bet you wanted to just keep going?
Good bit of filming, the Norfolk tourist board should be proud.
    Gary.

Hmmm. It was -9 degrees F this morning in Maine.....and yet it looks like a touch of spring on the Norfolk Path. Not fair.

Another enjoyable video, have to agree the UK has some stunning scenery but too many people are out enjoying it so it feels crowded at times. Some good comments on here especially the one from @Mark L, Whitby has some great fish and chip shops but with over 20 to choose from things can get a bit tricky!!!

Hi Simon I know you can buy lightweight tipi tents but wonder how difficult it would be to make a lavuu style tipi from silnylon or similar.what do you think are up for it?

Great video Simon which I guess I'm late getting into - we love the Norfolk coast and these two videos have whetted our appetite to do the "way" - but have I missed something or have you not finished the rest of the route yet? Many thanks

Thanks Don - I finally got around to walking the next leg to Cromer just before the virus hit us. I’ll carry on when things get back to normal. 👍

Thank you. I'm planning on doing Hunstanton to Cromer once this lockdown is over. You've provided a great understanding of what I can expect.
