I honestly think the Taurus looks a little better. While I think cowboys are badass, the Tracker makes you look like a gentlemanly cowboy, which is even *more* badass.
Single action are more comfortable for me. They just feel right. Nothing against double actions, they just feel more awkward to me. Great video, thanks for sharing.
The russian m1895 nagant is kind of like a triple action revolver. Pulling the trigger not just cocks and releases the hammer, but also moves the cylinder forward to create a gas seal.
I prefer single action. But in previous Law Enforcement I was trained to shoot double action and quick reload with speed loaders or speed strips. I shared this video with my youngest son because its brief but very detailed in the explanation between single and double action firing
Pietta makes a beautiful 1873 Single Action Army. I had to buy the Cimarron 7th Cavalry model to get the black powder frame with a 4 click hammer and a 7.5” barrel.
Thanks for the video .. most people including me got confused and mixed up. I thought double action refers to the two actions of the shooter on every shot where actually it is two actions performed by the revolver
I always get an education here! I never knew there was a double action BP revolver. 😉😜 Just kidding…but that was the very first thought I had, when I saw your video title come through.😂 Thanks, as always, for your time, money, and time on these videos, man!
Amazing! tutorial and video. In short, I think the single action has more manual functionality to it. The double action seems more automatic and is rich in its trigger pulling. However as mention, the stress to a shooter's handling of the gun can drain and maybe interrupt their goal of aiming at their target.
Sometimes single action is safer, for example if you are shooting 500 win mag, having a double action is downright stupid, the recoil is so much that you would have enough time to cock the hammer between follow up shots. I’ve seen a few instances where people shoot the revolver with both hands, and still managed to bump the trigger because of the recoil and shot towards the sky
Back when I started,64 years ago, it was confusing. I thought it was the gun that had two actions, I had to cock it and then pull the trigger. Two things. The newer guns only required one thing. Pull the trigger. I finally figured out that we were talking about the trigger function and not the gun as a whole. Clear now but at 10 years old, not so much. I’ve not seen any double action cap and ball revolvers. Anyone know of any?
Single action: you have to cock it every time to advance the cylinder before you pull the trigger and fire the weapon. In a double action all you have to do is pull the trigger and the trigger mechanism does all the work for you. It will advance the cylinder and fire the weapon automatically. Notice also I don’t use the word Gun. I call it a weapon or a firearm. A “Gun” is actually a crew served weapon requiring a team of more than one person. A firearm can be operated by a single individual.

Single Action is Cooler .Simple .

I feel the same way.
Because it is the way God and Sam Colt meant for men to shoot.

Thank you, I finally know the difference.
Dustin's "Wheelguns 101" 😁
That explains a lot, I always thought it refers to the reloading mechanism
Very helpful

There were indeed some double action cap and ball revolvers used in the Civil War. Colt did not make any, as far as I know.
Thank you!
What kind of velocities are you getting out of the Remington New Model Army Carbine? That vs the Walker would be interesting.
Amazing! tutorial and video.

What is the benefit of one over the other or why would you want one or the other?

Just need to append the terms with the word 'trigger'. A single action trigger, or a double action trigger.
Was there any BP double black powder ? Made and if so how hard to fine
What is the application of each?
? Can you turn a 1858 or a 1860 rem in to a dbl action like the 1865 I think it was in 36cal

@@Echosdad2 thanks.
My old pistols are SA, my modern are DA.
Waiting for all the Revolver Ocelot ghost accounts to post how much cooler single action is for no reason.
Very coool
never knew walter white has a gun channel
Reminds me of Little Bill in the Clint Eastwood movie, Unforgiven. Little Bill: "All you gotta do is cock it." 🤠😂

The ignorance of people knows no bounds.
Even if you don’t remember, there was a time when you didn’t know this. We’re all ignorant until we learn.
You're the gun expert, huh?
Thanks for an excellent explanation.
