@@timothyphillips5770i have a theory that the salesman was once in a vault which was experimenting on several types of serums to stop disease and aging. But their aux power/fusion core died. He uses his science of alchemy but it's got a vault tec/enclave vibe about it. So I think he's going to a vault and is essentially the Master, in a perfect FEV mutant form
Season? I want him to pop up in every future Fallout game. Kinda like that cat from Elder Scrolls or the developers in Pokemon.

Thaddeus is probably the lowest INT character in the show trusting this guy and his "miracle cure" to actually work.
It was that or lose your foot and/or die to infection. So it's kind of a "pick your poison" deal.

Best thing about fallout is the original sound effects. Too many shows off video game adaptations in general try to create their own sounds for it, which cuts the connection that people have with the games itself. It’s why fnaf did so well and so did mario.

In fallout games there is a perk named ghoulish that cures you with radiation:
Ghoulish
Endurance Level 9
Rank 1: Sure, you're still human - on the outside! Radiation now regenerates your lost Health.
Rank 2: Radiation now regenerates even more of your lost Health.
Rank 3: Radiation now regenerates even more of your lost Health, and some Feral Ghouls will randomly become friendly. (aww cute)

Theres one of two things Thaddeus recieved here:
- Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV)
(I doubt that the snake oil salesman has access to any FEV because Mariposa has been destroyed and is covered in rubble by the events of the show, plus whenever a human comes in contact with FEV their skin deteriorates which is what happens in fallout 1, but becoming a super mutant allows you to be immune to rads along with being a ghoul)
-Ghoul Serum?
(Hancock in fallout 4 talks about a drug that turned him into a ghoul which could mean the drug thaddeus took and Maximus said that he thinks he's a ghoul now)
It would be cool if thaddeus turned into a super mutant but there's no way this random guy just happens to have FEV lying around in his briefcase
I still have the suspision that the doctor was a scientist from Vault 4 and was banished. They had clearly some sort of mutagen - maybe another strain of the FEV virus, but highly modified. Go pause at 2:24 - that big toe isn't formed correctly, so he's already mutating.
they teased us a mutant in the second episode, i think it has to be a mutant ... but people in the show say it otherwise
this random guy could have a whole incredible back story which makes him someone very special. that is the fun of the fallout stories, so many vaults and so many survivors

A ghoul or a super mutant. I don't believe ghouls can heal from injuries, but it would explain how the ghoul seemingly survived his bullet wounds in Filly🤔. A super mutant however can heal from injuries and is immune to radiation.

The only way for you to turn into a ghoul is by surviving a nuclear war and being exposed to a lot of radiation. The salesman most likely gave him FEV.

When he tells him he won't need to worry about that anymore Super Mutants are immune to radiation. I hope that he becomes the super mutant companion in the show. I just hope they don't mess up his appearance or CGI in season 2.

@@MrCaptnrex not true . Soaking is an instant transformation. A small amount is transformation over time . Fallout 3 confirms this with Sid an insane captive at vault 87 that was exposed to the FEV with a small amount since the vault had little left . He screams about being exposed to it and can feel himself changing .
i'm cool with it being a CGI, as long the CG Artists are properly credited and it looks as good as Davy Jones from PoTC2.

This is definitely Hancock’s ghoul drug, not FEV. It would be really weird writing to have Maximus say “I think you’re a ghoul” if that’s not the idea they wanted to convey.

Ghouls don’t heal body parts, if you shoot a ghouls arm off, it does not come back.
@@zeikers Yeah, that seems to be a new idea introduced by the show. It actually makes sense though because how else would ghouls stay fully intact for hundreds of years? Also we do know glowing ones can heal them with radiation so it’s not unprecedented.

We're not entirely sure what it was or even if he's a ghoul. My opinion is that it was a makeshift version of the F.E.V. The guy is likely going to become a super mutant to fight Maximus's power armor.

I fully believe that the serum in the show is a diluted form of FEV, even though the Vats were destroyed by the Vault Dweller, and later the Enclave it was reopened again by the Chosen One in Fallout 2. It wouldn't be too far of a stretch to think that some scavengers went to Mariposa and managed to figure out a form of FEV that would work on ghouls to not become feral
All ghouls eventually become feral, but it may take a long time and he's freshly minted.
Mariposa wasn't the only place to have FEV either. Just the primary one that created the mutants. You also have the followers of the Master. Not all of them would have been killed, especially on the civilian 'hearts and minds' religious side of the Master's plan. Maybe he's a lunatic ex-priest from the Unity church.

@@stormtempterf8058 Mariposa's FEV was "perfected" either by Westek or the Master himself, Harold even became a ghoul like mutant after being exposed to it. It's not impossible to imagine that a small amount of FEV and radiation could turn someone into a ghoul

It's a little odd they named him "Snake Oil Salesman".... when he quite literally sold exactly what he said he would... even if the side effects may prove to be... undesirable in the future. if anything he would be a "Mysterious/Odd Salesman". I finally got a chance to sit down and watch the whole season and its probably one of my biggest dissapointments we didn't get to find out more about him, how he knows to make these things (is he just blindly mixing stuff and getting lucky? or does he know what he's doing?), if so, HOW does he know to make these things?

I hate this scene..and the twist at the end of the series about the bombs dropping..completely changes the cannon of the story. The bomb twist isnt as bad as this abomination of a concept though.
The bullshit meeting part with house is one of the worst lore moments I've ever seen
