Gripen JAS-39C/D Fails to Deliver, Philippines Turns to F-16 Viper ???

The delay in the acquisition of the multirole fighter aircraft by the Philippine Air Force (PAF) is due to delivery issues by the preferred manufacturer, which is believed to be Saab. While Saab is pushing the PAF to consider the newer and more expensive JAS-39E/F Gripen variant, there is also a reconsideration of Lockheed Martin’s F-16 Block 70/72 Viper. The recent allocation of US military funds is also pushing the Philippines to consider alternative options.
