Just a big of a history lesson for you guys on your new sponsor : Williams . The Williams family made their fortune in the western gold rush . They came back east and setup in Buffalo, N.Y. and Fort Erie Ontario. They developed manufacturing facilities for the production of dental alloys and accessories . The lure business began when they started using their stamping technology to develop a souvenir item for dentists. The demand became so great they couldn’t afford to keep giving them away. Instead, they setup a production department within the facility to produce the lures and began marketing them to the tackle industry. The original lure design was based on a silver spoon that fell out of a canoe. As it sank down in the water a trout hit it . The Williams wabbler was born . I was employed by the Williams family to begin a jewelry division in Canada and eventually also managed their tackle division. It was a pleasure to work for the Williams family and I have my best working memories with them. The tackle division was eventually sold to Mepps . Best of luck on all your future endeavours.
Mostly true, other than that an algonquin guide who guided williams actually bent his prototype lure into the famous shape. He said your lure was too straight, a fish would know that. Then he cast that shape in his factory.....after he caught a huge trout. The guides name was Sawyer.
I haven’t seen a Williams thrown in forever, glad to see some people still using them. Might break some out of my collection next time I go fishing. Nice video.
I love how happy you guys get when you catch a fish! The happiness is definitely contagious. I personally prefer the comfort of my home toilet it’s a lot my comfy then a box in the bush.
Hay guys, I especially liked the video both guys had expressions on their face that they were both enjoying them selves. Relaxed and having fun! Great job.... Grampa Don't👍
Those are big healthy brookies wow. Bestway to release them when they are worn out and stressed out is hold by the tail right side up and push forward then back repeatedly until they gain their strength back. No floaters. Unreal action on that lake
They were definitely healthy! That big one had engulfed the lure, so all 3 barbs were back of its mouth and it just wouldn’t go. Definitely helps to get the water pumping in their gills, I had tried this off the video but that guy was just destined for the pan. But hey can’t be too upset because out of all the fish we caught, only having two foul hooks was pretty good! 😊
They are what we consider our “luxury” item on our trips! Worth it for sure to have a bit of back support and some more cushion on the seat! We generally spend 8-10 hours in the canoe a day on trips so it helps a lot!
6 hours with 2 portages usually enough to get on fish? or do you find you can go less, or usually go more? nice vid. has a bit of a bob and doug flavour!
Really depends on the lake and access point but getting at least a couple portages behind you will get you into some good waters! You don’t always have to go far!!
Great videos, keep up the great work! In my opinion, the bite seemed to get expotentially better when you "sized down" and wasn't quite as much reliable on gold vs nu wrinkle. On a different note, I've heard some anglers say that the duller Williams will even work better to the point of putting them in the bottom of an old backpack and not using them until they get the "dross" on them As far as 💩ing in the woods goes, yes it can be extremely relaxing provided that there are not 10,000 mosquitoes on your @$$....lol😮
Thank you sir! They definitely did hit the smaller lures more, but they also weren’t shying away from some bigger spoons either! Honestly the mirrored and hammered were pretty neck and neck, Lyle just casts about 3-1 compared to me so he hooks up with more haha I have some old beat up Williams, I’ll have to try that theory! I’m a home bowl guy haha Especially now with the mosquitoes 😩
For most trips i do not take a crap . Even for 4 plus days . I blame the physical exertion .But one trip as i approached Huntsville relaxation set in and i just made it tp the can. What a dump. Like a coiled kielbasa .Left that store in a daze . pooping inthe bush is fine till you poop your pants. Ask that question boys . your fishing was fine . But go single hooks
Just saw how you cooked your trout. I always leave head on, salt and pepper, stick through mouth stabbed into tail section, over coals . The absolute best way. No pan , no grill , no foil , no non trout taste. Works anywhere. Hunter gatherer way.
I used to always leave the head on also, but the pan isn’t big enough these days and all you really get is the cheeks out of it. I have done the method you mentioned before a few times, turns out good, I just find it takes a lot more patience to complete plus I love BUTTER 😋
Hey Wesley, you’ve got the right size and action for sure! Might just be a matter of hitting the bite when they’re focusing on silver and green! Green is a good colour so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work!
It really depends on the lake! Some lakes can handle more pressure than others! Just putting a few portages behind you can get you into some good fishing that the weekend warriors don’t get a chance to fish!

Thanks Tim! They’re the best fish in our books!
I haven’t seen a Williams thrown in forever, glad to see some people still using them. Might break some out of my collection next time I go fishing. Nice video.
Thanks Colt! They’re deadly lures, synonymous with trout fishing and Algonquin fishing. Definitely should take them out with you!
They are Canadian Classics!
That's all I use for trout winter and summer !!

Good job! How do you guys like your canoe seats? I am thinking of getting one to help with my sciatic nerve.

Fuck yeah Lyle! 🤘
Thanks Teagan, we’ll have to get all you boys from the states up one of these days for a trip
Boss makes a dollar
I make a dime
That's why I poop on company time

I dont know who you are but I could see us being friends lol
@@loversofthepark5668 Well I'm looking for a canoe partner for fishing trips.
@@alexs3447 unfortunately I'm injured and can't paddle.. but I can fish 😆
@@loversofthepark5668 i got a bum foot but can still paddle.

Whats your opinion on the green uv williams w30?

@@TheAverageJoesFishingShow. I got the gold with the green uv, in what conditions would you recommend using it?
Merits to both. Gotta love a poop with a view!
Haha can’t argue there, but now that the bugs are out the view is short lived 😂
how far from an access point do you have to go to find spots like this?
It really depends on the lake! Some lakes can handle more pressure than others! Just putting a few portages behind you can get you into some good fishing that the weekend warriors don’t get a chance to fish!
what days were this?
This was last weekend, May 10-12th.
why arent you guys worried about bears out there?
which lake?
