The Eagle's Claw school and the Praying Mantis school are rivals. When the Praying Mantis school attacks the Eagles and kills the Eagle's head teacher, the prized student joins the Mantis. The remaining Eagle's Claw students toughen up in order to save their pride and their lives.

This is a movie that has Wang Tao,Chi Kwan Chun and the legendary Chang Yi who played ..the actor in Superman Chu!This is a movie that has the best fighting you can ask for in a movie.Chang Yi is the best when playing the villain and does he play his part well and I can truly say this is a classic!!
*I have to agree about him playing the part of the villain very well. In "Drunken Master 2, he was very masterful. His "Mantis-style" is excellent.*

This was the first kung fu movie I ever saw. I remember my father and grandfather watched it with me. I just wish my kids would watch them too

I'm cracking up at the pointy hat that Chang Yi is wearing in the first fight scene. I can't take him seriously with that hat tho. Still he's my favorite villain and I love Wong Tao and Chi Kuan Chun in this classic film.

An overlooked classic. Great story and the plot twist was awesome!

not overlooked, has the least kung fu and mostly complex intrigue and character acting. It's flawed too, as he killed two innocent students to make his deception believable. The only part i liked in this was Yu Chau the woman on the bad clan side who fell in love with the first student, i disliked her at first at beginning of movie but then fell for her charm when she mellowed down and started acting jealous and a woman in love. I wanted her and 1st to end up as a real couple.

Chinese kung fu movies ignored such a superior style eagle claw, and most movies presented the style as the bad guys favorite. Like the descendant of wing chun and snake in eagle's shadow.
The first student behaviour when he wasn't chosen as the next successor was brutal yet hilarious though 🤣
