Probably has something to do with the fact that her Voice Actress, Julie Ann Taylor is quite old ( not that old ). So for someone of her age to voice a young girl like that, brings about .....interesting results.
She seems too reliant on you, not being able to date the guys she wants to date and then picking you because you were nice to her. That's not love, she just wears her heart on her sleeve.

If you agree to date her at that point she’ll end up breaking up with you because she cares about you too much to hurt you. If you reject her she confesses to you later on and says that she realizes what she felt before wasn’t love and that she truly loves you because you genuinely want to be around her and not just for her looks. It’s really nice.
It's understandable that Ai comes off as more reliant than the other romance options. She has no other real friends and is only just starting to understand and accept herself as a person, not just as a girl who worked hard to get pretty in the expectation that you have to be attractive to be loved. She knows that her personality isn't always the easiest to be around, so it means a lot to her that Yu stood by her side and gave her the time and opportunity to figure things out. Whether or not you accept or reject her confession, she loves you for being you. But if you wanna talk about an overly reliant non-love, talk about romancing Futaba. Phew.
