Good stuff, enjoy your trip, you doing great. I love how you got the balls to not only make mistakes like all of us but put them up for all to see. Thumbs up!
Thanks Chris. I imagine that it’s more fun to see the mistakes rather than acting like nothing ever goes wrong 😂. Plus, that’s how we learn right? By making mistakes.
Really *stoked* that you are joining the voyage from Ensenada!! I enjoyed this video, too. Nice, chill singlehanded sailing. I've lost track of the times I have tried to joist the main with the reef lines pulled in.
Im currently looking into purchasing our own first sailboat for my wife and I. We've taken a few lessons out of South bay sailing in Redondo, and Im no salty ol' sailer yet... but I love that you are out there doing the same thing I want to do!! You give confidence to guys like me that may be a little intimidated to try but arent going to let that stop us!! Thanx for the videos man, I love it!!
Right on Phillip. I’m stoked to inspire you as I’ve been inspired exactly the same by others. Take it at your pace and get out there when the time is right. Cheers! - Andy
As a new sailor you are doing really great. I was glad to hear the sound of a diesel engine, you made a really good buy on a very nice boat. I owned several Columbia 26 with outboards, and they were a super pain in the butt to deploy, start, etc. Diesel engine with a good furling head sail is the only way to go.
Andy, I'm very impressed, for someone just getting into sailing and your first boat, Bravo! Love that you know you're going to make mistakes, which is part of the boating experience. You're docking is spot on, for me that's the most stressful part, especially solo. New subscriber here, will enjoy your future adventures. Stay Salty.
Thanks for the great video Andy - really enjoyed the sail... very pleasant... 😄 You should get some winch handle pockets and put them in your cockpit - they are a nice safe place to keep winch handles... Be well my friend and have a great sail with Mark - it's going to be awesome. 👍😄
Awesomet ! Not exactly what I was expecting (the Mexican flay colors in the 'teaser' kinda gave it away) even better: a long cruise with Mark an experienced sailor, getting your 'sea legs' on your way to your next adventure!
It would be nice if you could make some detailed tech vids on your raymarine and electronics setups, but cover all the details for beginners, you know like a step by step tutorial of exactly how things are installed and connected.
Andy, where are you sailing from? let us know some of those land marks and locations. looks like it could be either Long Beach or Dana point. some of the equipment you were passing makes me think, Long Beach. I have not lived in So Cal in a few years, so I'm wondering.
@@benkanobe7500 it’s all good man. I can say that yes it comes with power, water, two parking passes and “boater’s restrooms” that are not accessible to the public. These bathrooms do have showers. 🤙🏼
Andy, you need to be a little more clear that you are an amateur sailor so that unaware viewers don’t blindly follow your lead. Love watching your videos.
Hi Scott, I find Andy to be pretty authentic and open about his level of experience. By far the vast majority of folks doing this are amateurs, myself included.

Thanks Patrick, I’ll definitely be shooting video and you can expect a full report! 😂
Great video! And the trip from Ensenada will be a blast! I’ve made a few of those to and from San Diego.

Now that I finished the video I can see, Long Beach. Still like to hear about some of the landmarks you are passing.
Yes sir, sailing out of Long Beach. I’ll try to remember to call out more landmarks.
I'm on the next one over . near the end .

What does a slip like that cost in LB and what do you get with it? Power? Restrooms? ......?
Call the marina, I’d rather not air out my bills 😂
