It's really hard when people with no natural talent/gift try so hard at something but it's never enough to outstand the natural gift it's so frustrating and soul breaking when the hard work means nothing in front of those people
What Hiyori doesn't realize is that him being in the way of them speaking to Ikuya and mothering him won't help him at all. If he won't let Ikuya and the guys talk it out, he's just gonna keep thinking about it and sinking, physically and mentally. And that's gonna be on Hiyori.

I could seriously write a two page essay about what I think of this darkly manipulative character, but I won't. I don't think the Free fandom has ever had a character like this before. I've never been able to hate any character they've given us so far. They all had a reason, and they all had a lot of character development, so I'm curious to see what Hiyori's deal is.

well there's no one to be hate actually, for me hiyori got this kind of overprotective character like he never had any friends and ikuya was the one who make him feel like he's been appreciated, so he feels like ikuya is for him only, at first i feel like he's kinda psycho(?) lmao but he just someone who always lonely and alone so he's too scared to lose something that he already gained in this situation its ikuya, well ikuya also got no friends but he still can make friends and used to have too but as he grew up maybe he went to alot of things so his character look a bit depressed for me ngl and then there's hiyori so yeah, but we can see hiyori is wrong the passion in swimming in ikuya came from haru even how much he tried haru the one that lead him to be better (feel like rin a bit too) so he always had haru as his role model its kinda understandable since he never seen haru swimming and i really enjoyed dive to the future much seeing them growing up and stuff and how haru need to take care of himself without makoto all along like he used too, i mean makoto cant be with him all the time so he finally learn to survive alone, and haru talk a bit more here he didnt hold back his feeling and make sure to talk about it so none of them will feel clueless on what other's thinking frankly said they are more matured i love it

hmm i don't think there were that many new characters because a lot of them were already introduced in free starting days, like natsuya/nao, ikuya/asahi, but yeah i do agree that s3 isn't my favorite in comparison to the others. imo s2 was the best, haha. always hits close to home and gives me the feels, but i guess change is inevitable as the seasons progress and the characters get older and that's okay :"))
