Probably not. The amount of complaints I received for tossing a bell 2 feet off the ground into soft grass was bad enough. I would never hear the end of it if one was recorded being tossed off a mast.
Gotta love literally tossing a mechanical bell on the ground risking breaking one of the many moving parts inside (yes it's not likely but it's possible). I'm always very gentle when moving my mechanical bells around, only one I toss around is my E bell.
Man. I have not commented on yours videos in a while. Cant wait to see these Future signals to be up standing and ready to be tested on when it’s done.
Due to the amount of responses of the dim main lights, I went out and did a thorough check on everything that powers/controls the lighting circuit. A huge problem with the lighting circuit was found causing the low voltage problem. Hopefully soon I will have the lights fixed as the fix will not be a quick and easy one. Thanks for the observation!
I had comments on it before but I didn’t have nearly as many as I have had in the last day about it. There is definitely a problem that was found when I went out yesterday and tested voltage. Going out there today to try and find/fix the issue. It is not an easy fix as it requires rewiring relays and finding out why the lighting system was not working properly to begin with.
I’m excited for this project now lol. Also, would you happen to know where I can find one of the crossarm elbows? The one I’m using doesn’t have the clamps on it, literally just a 1-1/4” galvanized elbow. The light moves very freely on it, and since I’m putting it up soon I’d like to get that taken care of.
Yeah. By the way, I just came across a note I took when I asked for quotes from WCH. They price the elbows at $67 each, with I believe an 8 week lead time.
He's redesigning the railroad crossing at the Texas Transportation Museum. Who knows what it'll look like when completed? We'll just wait and see how the crossing looks when the TTM Railroad Crossing project is completed
I am leaving the TTM crossing setup alone and not adding to it anymore. I will just continue to upgrade to newer stuff there and move the old parts to the other crossing setups like this one I am setting up.
Slow drop is kinda slow and the gates go up and down kinda slow too FRA does say though that gate has to be down and fully horizontal at least 10 seconds before the train enters the roadway or crossing
I have 2 slow drop relays to increase the duration the gates are up after the bells and lights turn on. Since this is mainly used by pedestrians, it made sense to increase the activation time to ensure everyone is off the tracks. I follow as close as I can to FRA standards but I am not required to follow FRA standards for this crossing.

The gates going down at slightly different times is because there are 3 different gate mechanism types being used. What matters most is the gates reach the down position all at the same time. I am currently fixing the light issue, having to replace a few bad relays.
1:58 Don't just throw a mechanical bell on the ground like that. They are limited nowadays. Just because you can get lots of those doesn't mean everyone else who wants one can. I bet you’ll ignore this because you’ll consider it a “hate comment” but it’s not, I’m just saying.
I do respect your opinion on this matter and your comment will not go ignored. I was working in the hot afternoon heat of Texas (102 degrees) where everything metal I touch is hot. I usually toss stuff when it is hot outside and to reduce the amount of times I have to bend over. I was not worried about anything breaking in it as there is no rock beneath the grass so it will not damage the bell any. Same goes for everything else I tossed on the ground. I do appreciate your concern and did not mean to offend or come off that I don’t care about the stuff I do have. After all, I started out like any other small collector.
@@RailroadSignsandSignals Well thanks for responding. I feel like these kind of things are precious and I think that it is wrong that the railroad companies are getting arid of them. Sorry for the aggression
@@RailfanRXR I really don't blame railroads for replacing mechanical bells, they require so much more maintenance then electronic bells and only very few companies built mechanical bells to last (WRRS being one). And also something to add the bell he threw was a WCH so nothing of value was lost to be honest with you.
My setups are definitely worked on more often than other crossing setups. I am constantly getting newer equipment and that pushes out the old stuff on this crossing setup. People are going insane about the bell but they withstand hurricane force winds.
Could you toss more bells like that off the top of the mast, The sound they make is funny.
Probably not. The amount of complaints I received for tossing a bell 2 feet off the ground into soft grass was bad enough. I would never hear the end of it if one was recorded being tossed off a mast.

Boo hoo a mechanical type that is still being made got tossed around. There are plenty of them out there not like there a short supply.
@@RobertManuel42 You're just butthurt about UPking finding bells left on the ground by maintainers, go back to whining about that instead.
Very nice 👍🏻

1:58 Bro! The bell! Why did you drop it like that?! Doesn’t that hurt it?!
Seems like you like to screen record videos how about a screen recording of a bell getting tossed on the ground.
Great video
Very nice but those lights are very dim The only lights I can see flashing is the gate lights

@@RailroadSignsandSignals oh ok
Nice video! I wonder where these signals are gonna go when they are installed. Also, why are the incandescent lights on all signals so dim?
I am in the process of getting that fixed. An issue was found with the lighting circuit.
That is cool man, these 2 signals don’t have any lights right?
The stub gate will not have lights. The gateless crossing (with the light manifold) will have lights on it.

What mechanical bell dose this crossing have and nice video
A WCH I believe.
Where do you or the museum get all of the equipment
From railroads that scrap or remove them from service.
Great video! But at 1:58 don't do that, these bells are very limited and very fragile.
Not limited WCH still produces bells. And they are no where near in short supply.
@@RobertManuel42 Ik, but they make e bells not m bells. M bells are old and much more limited.

This morning june 1st
I could see that even in your video they
were super dim, even the LED main lights.
You know what is strange?:
-They usually Don't go down at the same time
-It's dimly a little but I can't see the lights
Only if it strange

there is S60,S20 & S40
there are no stop on red signal
They are only required to be installed in the state of Michigan. I decided to remove them to make it easier to maintain the lights and bells.
