Don't really understand why you did not see improvement in lower rpm horsepower. Dyno results are not made up. I have proven on my on dyno runs great improvement with engine performance and also in riding torque at slow speeds in technical sections of mountain trails. My friends riding on Honda 300 rally and Yam wr250 are always changing gears when my bike is like a small tractor, just pulling along. 2021 KLX 300 dual sport, FMF Q4 pipe (quietest aftermarket pipe I have found), O2 delete, secondary throttle valve delete, KDX snorkel, Twin air filter, EJK fuel controller, gearing 14/42...stock 23 hp, now 25.5 hp at 8k rpm, but more important an improvement of 4 horsepower and torque at 5k rpm over stock. I installed the O2 delete bong so I have no service light on. I have not had stalling issues but do get some popping on deceleration, for me is ok. I have not removed the PAR valve. I have over 17k miles on this bike. I rode the TAT (Trans America Trail) on this bike last year, NC to OR then rode it back home to SC on two lane roads with 95 lbs of luggage and it preformed fantastic. I was very glad for the improved hp on some of the Colorado mountain passes and Utah canyon rides. 2 of my riding buddies were on KTM500s and the other on KLR650. I had no problems keeping up. I did change the gearing coming home back to stock 14/40. This is an awesome bike for the price and can be ridden with no modifications and will preform well, but with a few adjustments can be much better. I like this bike so much I bought a 2023 and now experimenting with increased preformance using a stock exhaust system. 2023 KLX 300 dual sport, stock exhaust modified (my way with only slight noise increase over stock), O2 remains in place, secondary throttle valve delete, PAR valve delete, KDX snorkel, Twin air filter, BDSB fuel controller, stock gearing...once again much improvement in hp at lower rpm and also total hp. Will take the 2023 bike to Canada to ride the TQT (Trans Quebec Trail) this summer. I also ride a Yam Super Tenere with 45k miles, a Triumph Tiger with 65k miles, and Honda Transalp with 60k miles. Ride far and enjoy the adventures...
I'm just sharing my experience because most of the information that Was given or found didn't work out for me . I feel I need to let people know . Not everyone has money to spend and thay may waste there money. The klx 300 is all low end power . It lacks at hi rpm . I have all the mods and up grades . And it wasn't worth the money. But the time was spent getting to know. I'm 200 foot above sea level. Maybe if you live up higher in the atmosphere there may be a difference. But the only performance mod on the bike now is the exhaust with a 02 bung installed running the 02 .
22 klx300sm owner 14 delkevic 02 delete Dna air filter Kdx snorkel Runs great With out a fuel tuner 10k miles. No issues Great bikes. Be safe and have fun.
Iv had 2 of the EJK's on klx250's worked great added power. If u have the 02 delete Id try just plugging that in, it added fuel for me before I got the tuner. Try the air lid off and just the delete, easy on/off both of them. Should give u good low end boost
If you're not willing to do ALL the steps, as Eric/EHS explains then you get what happened to you. Take the butterfly out, if it doesn't work you can always reinstall it.
@edhanna834 there are 3 companies that make the same controller. There cheep and it was just my experience with the product. I enjoyed playing with it but the 5 year warranty is more important to me so I disconnected it . And with out timing curve it really can't do much . Thanks for the comments. Just like the o2 deleat throws the check engine light on so why buy the bypass . When I got my 2023 there was really nothing available but for the 250 of previous years
There isn't one you have to find one that fits an earlier year bike and make it fit . I wanted a fmf but there never available been on the backorder list forever. I post a noise video for you
I have the EJK tuner on my V twin and it works perfectly fine. I’ve had it on there for the last 4 years. However I’ve heard that the tuners don’t do well on the KLX 300 for some reason. You’re not the first to have problems with them on that bike.
The fuel tunner I used was from EHS racing it looks exactly like the EJK with a different sticker on the face but function and ajusting is identical. I'm just about to hit 600 miles for the first service and not really willing to take the time to do test and adjustment to see if I could get it right . I just want people to know my experience 99% of information isn't talked about in the reviews or glossed over . I did go power comander because I didn't want to tap wires on a new bike under warranty. At first I thought it was the o2 delete but it turned out to be the tunner
KlX300SM owner: You should really consider taking out the secondary throttle. Both EHS and Best Dual Sport Bikes showed on their dynos just removing the secondary throttle is an easy way to improve performance. That with the KDX snorkel or air box mod and an exhaust is worth 4-5hp and better low/mid performance. Yosh exhaust O2 delete Pair valve delete All smog deletes Kdx snorkel Lithium battery Secondary throttle removed (came w/bike) Power commander/dyno jet FC (came w/bike, will be getting it re-tuned with new snorkel) G2 throttle tamer (was twitchy at low speeds) Pivot pegs T-Rex skid plate Bark busters Pro taper mid Risers Tusk Dsport rear TKC 80 front Precision rear rack Kalair graphics TW200 on steroids Stay safe and have fun
My point is just because I can do it and it's recommended buy meany influences doesn't mean it works . Because there is no ignition timing adjustments changing the fuel curve really makes no difference this bike will only run one way do to programing . You may make power at one point but not all rpms. And you will find that any mods will leave a week spot in the throttle response. There is no change in the base programing. Most people ride with a efi light on and deal with a no start condition I would love to be in fuel control and timing control but this isn't happening
The secondary valve controls port air flow increasing air flow speed at different rpm. Tuning the intake air flow if removed you lose top and bottom and locked to the natural air flow of the primary butterfly value
@@jimforsyth2. Well the Dyno says otherwise...the removal of the secondary throttle does improves low-mid power......but whatever. Good on you for posting up. I sure can't do it. Cheers mate.
You don’t have a clue what you are talking about. I did the secondary throttle delete, EHS tuner and barker full exhaust. Left the O2 in. Runs way better than the lethargic stock set up. I have done this on a 22 and a 23 klx300. Nothing wrong with this set up.
You apparently don't know what you're doing. Everything you said here is bunk. I've had nothing but success with mine. EJK tuner, Delkevic 14" slip-on, KDX Snorkel w/DNA filter, all smog, PAIR valve & O2 sensor delete, secondary throttle plate removed, Iridium spark plug. If you can't program the fuel tuner correctly, find someone who can.
How do you know you are having success . I'm just saying my experience with what I did on a brand new bike under warranty. And my fear of causing damage . Some people tell me it works fine for them and other say they have had problems too . I don't know what I am doin. but the secondary throttle plate is important it keeps air speed up . I'm happy it all works for you make a video showing us how to do it right . Thank
Why would you buy an entry-level bike and do all that to it? Why not just buy a bigger bike? Seems a little silly and a waste of money to me. Must be ma and pa's money!
Why does everyone think taking off the o2 makes things better? It’s funny to because everyone that does that seems to have stalling and rideability issue. You have taken away the ecu’s only ability to trim fuel under half throttle or 6k. Unless you run a stand alone ecu with a custom fuel map taking the O2 off only creates more challenges
As a auto mechanic I knew better but because there was no up stream sensor and I was under the impression that the o2 was only used at ide. That if I put a fuel tunnel on it it would be fine . Turns out the tuner alone gave me a wide open to closed throttle stall. I was told that the 02 needs to be deleted to not ajust for the new map . But it didn't help so I have a new exhaust with a 02 in it . Just deleted the cat. As I went threw all the videos of people doing mod. They all have a service light on . And being a mechanic buy trade I don't like the money light on .
As Eric at EHS explains in his video, the tune is specifically desined to work with the butterfly removed.

In real life it's hard to feel the difference between 3/4 hp . This bike isn't a 9 second mechine wear a half or 2 hp make any difference
Thank you for filling in many questions I had.

Keep your 02 sensor and you probably have more exhaust options now when I go mine there was nothing available
