I actually wouldn't say this was the way the song "was originally supposed to sound like" given that the song idea began as an idea Camila had. Therefore, I think the song was "originally supposed to sound like" the way Camila actually did it given that it was her idea to begin with. But Sasha did help her finish the idea as a co-writer. I think this is just Sasha's interpretation of the song to fit her style more. Sasha straight up said in an interview that she couldn't do what Camila does on the song because her voice isn't capable of it. So I think this is just Sasha changing it to fit her voice and style better. A beautiful cover, but it's definitely a reinterpretation and not the original version.
