But F2.0 and no front flash, i wonder how sony would achieve that. Samsung has an edge over Sony on this
It better saves some serious battery coz I have been hearing that each iteration of Android promises better battery life but most of it seems to be meh~~~

please don't call the square design old..it's so much good looking... it's what makes many Sony fans go.for it... all the phones now a days are curver like the old iPhone.. but Sony is the only unique one....
I have the XZ premium and the design looks stunning in real life. It completely eclipses S8 and iPhone 7s plus when they are put beside my phone. The glass and aluminum construction really give it a very classy and expensive look.
Most people don't get the idea of sony's design and complain more about its bezel. Samsung and other phones compete with bezel less design. You know these are trends. Like jogger pants after 6 months or later they change making the older design obsolete. But sony is like levi's,wrangler, as if it were jeans. Original style is always original. That's the beauty of sony
+mik jagger i do love the design language on Sony phones and own an xz premium, the omnibalance design together with glass on the back makes it so sophisticated and delicate. But when it comes to techs, less bezel does help make it a lot more modern and futuristic, my very own thoughts.

For me its the SONY XZ Premium. I have had mine around 2 weeks or so now, and I am 100% satisfied with my choice. The 4K screen is absolutely stunning. Even when just using chatting apps.....the screen is super crisp, clear and bright. And colours just simply "pop" on the screen. The phone is very fast (faster than the S8 as proven on side by side comparison videos) and the touch screen is super responsive and as smooth as butter. The camera is very good and the predictive picture function is brilliant (got pics I thought I had missed), as is the dedicated camera button on the side which allows for immediate access to the camera. The slo mo is impressive and I have had a lot of fun making vids and thinking of new things to do in slo mo. Aside from that the build quality is excellent and the phone feels like an expensive premium device in the hand. Imho SONY have outdone themselves here and made a phone that is every bit as good as anything made by the competition.
I use the sRGB mode. Things still look great. The vivid mode annoys me in the apps list and other things. Videos probably are ok but I don't like when saturation is overdone :)
10:20 The amount of light is focused on the person at S8, but at premium on the background. That is why the background appears more well illuminated at premium. But the colour of the London buses has always been plain red like S8 shows, and not pinkish red like the premium performance.
Bezels are not wasted space on the XZP since there is high resolution audio speakers and front facing big camera sensors behind them. They are there for a good reason. BTW, I keep my XZ Premium at super vivid mode since it gives the best color sharpness in my opinion :)
Vivid is, well, vivid. Not as accurate for photo or video editing (use sRGB mode for that), but it will make colours pop. Personally I use the sRGB mode and have xreality off. I prefer it that way unless I want to spruce up a movie, then I'd use standard Trilumonious and xreality. However, normally I watch movies on my TV instead. But this phone display is so nice, it's tempting to get some headphones and watch a 4k HDR movie, seeing as my TV is 1080p non HDR.
Nice comparison, I got my XPZ 2 weeks now (also made videos on my experiences) and I'm really happy with it. As far as I can say all top Smartphones this year are really close in most aspects. I like the classic design of the XZP but can understand why some people see it as outdated. In the intro and walking the traffic was too loud which made it difficult and impossible to understand. I had to many bad expiriences with Samsung to still buy stuff from them anyway. (great products but bad management backup and support.)
To me the design of XZ Premium looks much better, but that's just my opinion and also XZP crushed S8 everywhere. I'm going for SONY. BTW, what's that song? 11:40

Yong Mei xzp's got a smoother ui, better camera white balance, best video stabilization, dual speaker but the s8's got a futuristic design, better lowlight camera and way more inhouse features :)

Why? In my wiev the bezels are perfect letting fingers rest into. There is no such places on Samsung. Even HTC has big bezels but all seems to love it anyway
Sony's box design is a classic and I think Sony were right to keep the top & bottom bezels, but I do think the phone would have looked better if these bezels were a slightly slimmer either side. Also, I don't understand why Sony didn't employ the edge to edge screen like the screens found on their mid-tier XA1 models? The XA1 looks so much more modern and keeping with the current trend. The XZ Premium would have hugely benefitted from the edge to edge display, especially with the stunning 4K. If these two small design flaws were addressed, the XZP would win over alot more popularity. The comments I've read on review videos and posts suggest that alot of potential buyers do love the phone, but are still put off with the current design. So I think Sony would be wise to address these issues with their future models. I'm still buying the XZP though because it's a fucking beast!
Maybe those displays in the xz(p) need more space? It's not a dealbreaker. Personally I'd get just as annoyed at Samsung's curves, lack of frontal holding space, and lightbleed effect due to the curved edges. Once the initial wow goes away is when you find out what you actually like in a phone :) It's also when you find out annoying things like the camera photo distortion (warp), which hopefully gets fixed in a firmware update.
I have a question, can you record phone calls with xperia xz premium like with lenovo phones and CAT phones, already inbuilt phonecall recorder? And can you make a review of xperia xzs?

Lol just pick one you like. Will the mirror effect annoy you? Deep sea is surprisingly reflective too. Chrome will keep cooler in sunlight. It will also attract more attention as light reflects off of it. The mirror one will also have you awaited at the gates of Valhala, to ride eternal, shiny and chrome

OP, If you need to slow down the video frames to compare the speed of the apps opening, it's not worth mentioning. Even if the apps load faster I would still prefer the S8. The Sony simply looks outdated. Kudos on the screen but the design looks old. I have owned my S8 since it came out and I can tell you that it does not slow down or deteriorate as mentioned.

If you like multimedia, then you may need to consider how content fits on those long displays (s8, lg etc). It either has black bars (effectively bezels) or you cut off the top and bottom. It would work well for cinema movie aspect ratios though
Great comparison. Agree the xz premium daytime shots show better detail and contrast than the s8. While s8 is better still at noise reduction in low light but Sony has improved even without ois.
Today I went to the shop to get Samsung note 8 or S8± And now I am enjoying my new XZ Premium Why.?I am a note guy i had note 2, 3,4 till today. Note 8 is massive not nice . They should have note 8 with Note4 screen size to me just becomes Impractical. And if you put case on it it will be a proper BRICK Galaxy S8+ Are you real 🤭 it looks disproportionate too long for that width same for the note 8. In my case if not note. something else. But that's just my opinion Sony right size screen almost as Note4. And that 4k screen is omg.
love your video, i think xzp is better s8+ in performance (a little bit) and camera but i will choose s8+ (amazing design, good performance, very long life battery for youtube) ;))
Bit of a late reply, but great review here.. I like the square design of my XZP.. it gives it a unique look from all the Galaxys and Iphones everywhere and its nice to carry around something different. The bezels house the speakers.. so they arent that much of a waste of space... Also bigger bezels means better protection from being dropped or falls.. The S8 is very flimsy and more fragile.. although I must admit.. the S8 camera ia nice in certain senarious, but the differences are so small, I would never buy one..
based on multitasking and gaming and battery life which is winner S8 or sony XZ ?? because i watched other vid that s8 has the longest battery life, but for you what will you choice ?? Sorry to my bad english
+Pama Levi the exynos version is surprisingly worse than the s835 version which we have here in the UK. The us s8 should win easily in terms of battery life

Same old low light high ISO smudges on the Sony, just like my mom's and girl friend's Z3. The irony is Sony produces the best image sensor in he world for all photographic segment but their Jpeg compression algorithm and DSP sucks big time even with such great sensor on board. Luckily I got myself an S8+

just a quick question, in this video have you set it to the highest settings when you have played dynasty warriors unleashed? because I'm playing this also in my Xperia XZ but not as smooth as it seems in this video.

OP, If you need to slow down the video frames to compare the speed of the apps opening, it's not worth mentioning. Even if the apps load faster I would still prefer the S8. The Sony simply looks outdated. Kudos on the screen but the design looks old. I have owned my S8 since it came out and I can tell you that it does not slow down or deteriorate as mentioned.
Top and bottom lid is there to make gaming better. Gives more distance.
I almost regretted getting the S8 but after seeing those huge bezels I think i made a good decision XP

If you like multimedia, then you may need to consider how content fits on those long displays (s8, lg etc). It either has black bars (effectively bezels) or you cut off the top and bottom. It would work well for cinema movie aspect ratios though
Great comparison. Agree the xz premium daytime shots show better detail and contrast than the s8. While s8 is better still at noise reduction in low light but Sony has improved even without ois.

And now I am enjoying my new XZ Premium
Why.?I am a note guy i had note 2, 3,4 till today. Note 8 is massive not nice . They should have note 8 with Note4 screen size to me just becomes Impractical. And if you put case on it it will be a proper BRICK
Galaxy S8+ Are you real 🤭 it looks disproportionate too long for that width same for the note 8. In my case if not note. something else. But that's just my opinion

Bit of a late reply, but great review here.. I like the square design of my XZP.. it gives it a unique look from all the Galaxys and Iphones everywhere and its nice to carry around something different. The bezels house the speakers.. so they arent that much of a waste of space... Also bigger bezels means better protection from being dropped or falls.. The S8 is very flimsy and more fragile.. although I must admit.. the S8 camera ia nice in certain senarious, but the differences are so small, I would never buy one..

I dunno man.. I'm normally a Sony guy. Had the Z1, Z3 and Z5. But this year, Samsung's Galaxy S8 Plus just stole the show..
PressPlay same here... I had the z2, z3, z5... And now... S8+ is really making it a difficult decision.

Same old low light high ISO smudges on the Sony, just like my mom's and girl friend's Z3.
The irony is Sony produces the best image sensor in he world for all photographic segment but their Jpeg compression algorithm and DSP sucks big time even with such great sensor on board.
