The VF-1 Valkyrie (Veritech) is one of the most iconic mech designs from the 1980s but never before have we seen the cockpit in this scale and with this level of detail! "rivets with 1950s technology". Close, since the VF-1 it is based on the F-14 Tomcat which most people forget is a jet that started development in the 60s (in fact, many of the US's most famous fighter jets are now 50+ years old). Incidentally there are pictures comparing the sizes of VF-1 vs the F-14, it's interesting to see just how big the real jet was. As for the pipes in the internal gimmick, you can think of them as hydraulic pistons to move bits and parts of the VF-1 around for transformation.
While the VF-1 certainly owes its inspiration to the Tomcat; when I think Tomcat, I don't think big rivets all over the nose. I think this is just an example of someone saying "planes need rivets!" because they had WWII models as a kid.

Catching up on your new reviews, just saw your new intro, and... IT IS ABOUT TIME! Quite a drastic improvement. It still needs work on the graphics side before it can give new viewers' expectations somewhat on-par with the impressive quality, technical detail, and spot-on word choice you demonstrate with every review.
That cockpit is the childhood dream of the company owner, and I am sure someone had to convince him that a full size version would bankrupt the company. Also... watched your review of that new Optimus toy. holy shit.
Back in the day I pre-ordered the Hikaru Ichijo/Rick Hunter version of this. After numerous delays, I cancelled the pre-order and got my deposit back. Thankfully, non refundable deposits are only valid if the original sales terms at the time the deposit is taken are fulfilled. It's a gorgeous piece, but so very expensive, and hearing about the QA issues definitely made me happy I backed out.

1/12 scale for 6inch figs is definitely the better choice compared to a 1/6 scale that would work for 12inch figs with this behemoth.

I replied to your post about disconnecting the treble side of the amp on MW, but I didn't tag you there, so you may not have seen it. The original amp board is a somewhat uncommon implementation of a *very* common chip amp setup. It would be easily and cheaply replaceable given just a bit of soldering and rewiring. Hit me up on MW if you'd like more info.

That heat shield looks like a punch shield buckler for buhurt, the sport of full armor combat.
Glad pilot names aren't printed because I would rather Macross names than Robotech by a wide margin. But i wish they would give a waterslide decal sheet with options for both Macross and Robotech.

I got the 1/12 version of these cockpits. 1/6 too big but 1/12 seems good although the stands suxs but no stereo stuff.

Impressive display piece, a shame it got damaged and you had to repair it. Love the lights, but think the sound system, even if it worked, wasn't needed, that money should have been better used in improving the pilot sculp or paint some more details.

Great Review as always! Any plans to review any of the Transformers Masterpiece figures like MP-36 Megatron or MP-44 Optimus? would love to see your thoughts.
I have been seriously debating doing more Transformers content. There are LOTS of people doing Transformers videos while the Macross/Mospeada/Robotech community is under served. So currently, no plans to get back into doing Transformers content... but I have them so it's an option if enough people want me to reconsider.
So while some toys/models/statues jump ahead in the timeline to mix DYRL elements into SDFM products, this one borrows from the steampunk past. 😁
Oh, wow.. this is the REAL cockpit of VF (compare to those fully plastic model VF cockpit noses of Plamax!).. oh girl, calculation and priority highly required here, too many with on - the list - to - buy already .. 😂🤣🙈 ..(get) this one and other fighter jets have to be sacrificed (not to get).. 😂

I bought it, I opened it, I transformed it with a screwdriver in hand, and I loosened screws as I went. Got it to GERWALK and back to fighter and I think I should be safe now.
@@ScorchedEarthToys man to be honest, mine came today but it was at my parents’ house and I told them to check it. I can only hope for the best
i assume the lack of pilot names on the canopy is due to probably a vocal minority, being upset if it had either Robotech or Macross names on it. satisfying both crowds be having nothing.....kinda stupid imo, just give lables with both.
