What are you talking about? The Yamaha sounds far more detailed and refined. The Sony sounds tubby and muffled with a poor soundstage. In their price range the Yamaha is probably the best speaker available.
The Yamahas sounded better balanced overall. The Sony's were just louder with a bit more bass, but no mid tones. They just had highs and lows. The Yamahas were more expansive and detailed.
which set will still be around in 30 years? Yamaha has been making those NS-6490's since at least 1990... I know I own 3 pairs of them one is 1990 one is 2002 and one is 2012. The Yamaha are also acoustic suspension vs ported which heavily exaggerates the bass... the Yamaha definitely sound more realistic

Bueno al parecer suena mejor el Sony, es que la verdad se están comparando a diferentes niveles de potencia ya que los parlantes sony es de 6 ohmios y el Yamaha de 8 ohmios, tendrías que subirle un poco el volumen del yamaha para hacer la comparación más equitativa, esos parlantes sony son de la época en que hacían buenos equipos de sonido, espero resurjan como el ave fénix por que ahora sus equipos son muy bonitos pero suenan pésimo, sin potencia.

El que hizo esto que se compre un tímpano nuevo!!!! Muy superior en detalle el yamaha! Por otro lado son dos tipos de parlantes absolutamente distintos y enfocados a distintos tipos de música y público. Los yamaha son cerrados y los sony apuntan como toda esa gama a exagerar los bajos. Repito mucho más equilibrados y detallados los yamaha (aclaro que no soy muy amante de los parlante yamaha)

The Yamaha is good for modding. There's no real crossover in it. So it can be upgraded easily. The cabinet can also be braced inside and stuffed with poly fill.

Humm I can't even find the Sony's on eBay or Amazon Just say 'in I own two pairs of the Yamaha's I have um on my pool deck and the neighbors threaten to call John R Law on my on occasion. It just takes one or two of the right videos to grab people and then they shall come, what that is I'm not sure though. I think most people like to hear the creator of the video talking and things explains through speech. I don't know how good you're English is but who cares, some Russians can sound very humorous at times which is usually a good thing from what I've seen on UA-cam. It is a $65 speaker (the pair costs a hair under $130). How good can it be then? Seriously....
The Yamaha's sounds bigger and open - and more midrange.
Sony only wishes they can sound as good as these speakers...These yamaha 6490 are one of the best Bookshelfe speakers in the market period..

I compared the Yamaha NS 6490 against the Kef ls 50 meta speakers and oh my god. What a difference the Yamaha’s sounded 10 times better than the kefs.

Preferred sony. Guitar effect is awesome from the mid bass driver. Well balanced to whole song. Yamaha loose on clarity alot.
