25:25, The problem with the Hindenburg was, they used Hydrogen gas to float the ship. Hydrogen is highly flammable. And the materials that covered the blimp were very flammable as well. Modern blimps use Helium gas, an inert nonflammable gas. Much safer compared to back in the day.
Even back in the day there were plenty of helium zeppelins, the manufacturers of the Hindenburg just cheaped out because hydrogen is way less expensive than helium.
@@TheArkTheArkTheArk At the time of the Hindenburg, the US had a near monopoly on helium gas, and they used nearly all of it for their own military airships, the USS Akron and USS Macon. A film that was based on a real person and his arms dealing business, that the director and producers found to be too unrealistic until they found out buying real weapons to use as props was cheaper than creating props for the film, they also got a couple dozens of tanks for a drive by while the tanks where standing on parade display but had to rush it due to the fact that the arms dealer they rented the tanks from had sold them to Libya. They also rented a plane that they had difficulty filming with because the arms dealer who's plane it was, was still using it for his arms dealing business. The guy Nicolas cage's character was based on was even hired by the US military to smuggle in weapons for cheaper and faster to the US allies in Afghanistan than what the US military could, he was arrested in 2008 (If I recall correctly) in Bangkok and was sent to US prison for arms snuggling and was then traded by the Biden administration for a US woman's basketball player who had gotten caught in Russia with weed (super illegal in Russia) (people where angry that the arms dealer was traded for a basketball player who's publicly called American the worst nation on earth, while an former American soldier who was honey trapped and then arrested for espionage in Russia remained behind bars - the Russians even stated they where suprised that the Biden administration didn't ask about the former us soldier but rather only for the female basketball player) and he got immediately back to smuggling weapons for the Russian war in Ukraine.
The disclaimer Gan read as Jan was completely ad-libbed. Want to say the original one for Episode 4 which was read by Ant doing the Dandy Man voice was also ad-libbed but to a much lesser degree. I’m glad that Party Party Party is going unmuted this time around (the visual overlay is well worth the payoffs, trust me). Very important we know where the party is at all times given the next few episodes after 4. Fact: Abridged Queen Elizabeth is voiced by someone from the original Ultimate dub cast. For legal reasons, Team Four Star cannot divulge who the voice actor is. Oh Abridged Van Winkle. A character who despite being so dated aged remarkably well though not in the way that the creators anticipated. Little behind the scenes joke: the guy who got the Portal reference is voiced by Purple Eyes, best known for starting “I’m at Soup”. References abound in his works. Meanwhile the guy who voiced the first guy (as in not Integra) who didn’t understand the reference was voiced by someone who was known for actively avoiding using referential humor in his work…before he became notorious for other reasons. We…don’t talk about him much as a result. These vampires follow Stoker rules, one of them being that vampires cannot cross running water (this includes the Atlantic ocean) without bringing their coffin containing soil from their place of birth. This is why Seras was in a coffin when going to Brazil (as for why she needed to be in the coffin and couldn’t be where Alucard and Pip were up top, long story short she’s still a human-vampire hybrid and hasn’t fully turned, wanting to retain her humanity). Alucard’s coffin was also in that cargo hold (you can see he brought it to Brazil in an official clip where he hypnotizes that hotel receptionist) just as it was in the Blackbird’s cargo (it did not blow up with the Blackbird; it’s made of sturdier stuff). Van Winkle similarly had hers in the copter that landed on the carrier. So now Alucard is stuck on a wrecked yet thankfully still floating Carrier, its engines are shot, and as we later find out no one is able to send out support to air lift him and his coffin out of there to get back to London in time. He has to use his own powers to slowly propel the carrier towards London. This is how the Major and Hirano upped the stakes, by taking the most powerful player in this game and taking him temporarily out of it as though he were Goku. It’s not just the one Zeppelin; it’s a fleet. You’ll notice that there’s no more Party Party Party starting with this episode. That’s because the party is wherever Alucard is, and Alucard isn’t in London. It’s kinda weird in hindsight that the Major says he doesn’t gamble with maybes. That last line from Sir Penwood is my favorite Little Kuribo’s read from Team Four Star after the end of Dragon Ball Z Abridged 24.
So, fun fact about Heinkel and Yumei: In the first three volumes of the manga, there is a bonus chapter at the end titled Cross Fire. These chapters are episodic, and center around the duo of Heinkel, the butch gunslinging priest, and her partner Yumiko/Yumei, a Japanese nun with a split personality. I for one was a huge fan of them showing back up and playing such important roles in the Battle of London.
It gets so much worse with the Queen if you think about a few things. Back then Alucard was a girl and yet warmed her bed during the blitz. Speaking of women.. Rip van winkle. They made it so weird with her. While here I would say she is literally a walking meme, in the original she was much more operatic. Despite the name, she is based off the German play Der Freischutz where people pledge their soul to the devil for a handful of magic bullets. Little do they know the last bullet is controlled by the devil himself and always ends tragically. 19:05 sadly they needed to actually mute the song they had. It was AC/DC Shoot to thrill.
Yeah, one of the big downers with the Abridged is how they have to cut stuff. For instance, we actually get to see her shoot down the helicopters sent to the ship and watch those crazy magic bullets dance.
I adore the backing music for the Major’s “I Love War” speech. It was composed by Gustav Holst in WWI, as part of a suite where each of the seven movements was based on one of the planets in our system, hence the name, “The Planets.” Each movement tries to convey the emotions Holst thought would be held by each planets namesake deity. This, in particular, was written for Mars, The Bringer of War; hence how rhythmic it is, mimicking the march of an army. I was First Tuba when I played this in high school, and had so much fucking fun every time we rehearsed it. Pushing myself to be able to drive the train faster and faster without double-tonging, until I was able to keep at a pace fast and steady enough for the other sections to not drag. And being able to just go full mezzo blasto in a couple parts of an already 7 minute piece was just the cherry on top. Sorry for the ramble, I just fucking love this song.
Blimps aren't surprising if you expect it. I was driving home one day and saw what I thought was a blimp, was all wtf is that thing. Turns out the Goodyear blimp was at a football game near me a good 30-40 miles away.

I’ve watched at least 7-8 different women/Vtubers react to this series though some only managed to get to episode 7 because copyright issues. I noticed your ears perked up at 33:08 Chelz, plus that little smile. Of everyone I’ve watched react to this scene, you’re the first I’ve seen that didn’t immediately go “Me” when Walter asked the question. Edit: For context on why Alexander Anderson mentioned Alucard wanting to plow virgin soil, canonically the contract Integra has to bind Alucard is one where she has to remain a virgin in order to get him to obey her.
That same virgin blood is also why Seras can remain who she is without either dying of starvation or fully committing to becoming a vampire. Plus it’s established in Episode 3 of Abridged that Alucard does think Integra’s hot which is why he can’t speak to her in-person most of the time as it makes it hard to mess with her.
15:20 They had copyright issues with the sound used when Alucard were flying the blackbird, so the song had to be edited out, causing a loss of audio quality.
@26:57-ish blimps are fairly rare in modern aviation, whereas zeppelins haven't been a thing since the Hindenburg exploded and passenger planes filled that void with a vengeance.
15:02 The mangaka literally wanted to draw a story about his random characters focusing on visuals which is how you get 40s Germans, vampires, and the church Dude just wanted to draw cool panels and built a story around it which is one of the reasons the abridged works so well
To answer the "why zeppelins?!" bit - to be completely fair, the Hindenburg only went kaboom because it was full of hydrogen. Thing is, the Hindenburg wasn't _supposed_ to have hydrogen, it was designed for *helium.* But this was 1937, Hitler was doing Hitler things, and the US (which was essentially the only country at the time that had spare helium to export) wasn't exporting helium to Germany (because Hitler was doing too many Hitler things). So they used hydrogen, and, well, kaboom. Point is, Maxwell knows better, and got helium... Probably.
For a while everyone thought airships were the future, New York has skyscrapers with anchor points on the roofs with no purpose since nobody uses zeppelins.
Did you notice Alucard’s favorite killing move? It was made pretty obvious after episode 3. Alucard made quite a spectacle of it. Also TFS recreated the Major’s War speech at a convention in Australia.
25:00 Even helium-filled zeppelins are able to carry hundreds of crew. Hydrogen filled envelopes are able to carry even more weight, making them suited for luxury liners and cargo ships, but ... Well, there's a reason the British .308 AA tracer was better at igniting targets than the ones used by other nations.
I love seeing someone see this for the first time, coz I can basically quote the entire thing at this point. glad you're enjoying it. it gets even better
the cat boy? He's Warrant Officer Schrodinger. the sound in episode 4 sounding muted for a period is a copyright issue with ACDC and their song Shoot To Thrill also, despite how meek and pathetic Penwood seemed, both in the original and the abridged. Both cases he went out like a godamned badass.
Just so we're clear, Warrant Officer Schrödinger (the catboy in the Hitler Jugend uniform) represents Schrödinger's Cat, the subject of a thought experiment that describes quantum physics. The real-life Erwin Schrödinger is the person who proposed the experiment, and then various physicists, including Einstein, tossed the idea around, notably proposing ever-more convoluted ways of destroying the cat during the experiment. I think Einstein suggested dynamite.
Living in the UK I have not once seen a blimp anywhere, on tv or at any point in my years growing up outside of films xD Hot air balloons for sure but not blimps, I think after WWII and the Hindenburg they pretty much fell out of favour.
Yes Schrödinger is a cat/boy and his power is that he is omnipresent He both exists and doesn't exist in all times and all places, so long as he can observe himself
25:30 oddly enough, the fix was beyond stupid, and we could make it almost impossible to do again even at the time First major issue with Zeppelin Technology was, while moving through the air dust and stuff bounce off the shell causing a buildup of static. Which, when it came into contact with a grounded object cause a massive shock which... The Hindenburg was covered in a conductive aluminum and iron oxide oil paint, which we later learn makes thermite... The thermite coated canvas shell was held together with large bolts and screws attached directly to the air frame usually in contact with the leather or waxed canvas hydrogen bladders.... Do to contact with screw, bolts, the wooden and metal frame and other things rubbing and cutting holes in the leather and fabric hydrogen bladders, fairly large holes would develop, causing the highly flammable hydrogen to build up and eventually/occasionally catch fire. The first fix is literally a bit of wire or cable about 6 to 20 feet with a feather type metal poof at the end, will dissipate any gathered static into the atmosphere, making a ground static spark almost impossible. Getting rid of wax coated thermite sheets in place of modern static resistant polymer sheets would pretty much work for that Replacing everything with aluminum and polymer frames, and modern safety protocols would drastically reduce the weight, round off the sharp bits, and allow for more room between the bladders reducing chafing And finally, even modern party balloons are more robust than the old bags, so I mean, some again, modern polymer nylon bags similar to the portable fire fighter 5000 gallon bags would probably work just fine. Net them with nylon cargo straps, nylon sheet caps, and run most the power off solar and lithium batteries and a modern Zeppelin not only would be safe, but giving the physical limits of flight for them, would be a neat way to being back Land Cruises
Orange chicken and fried rice and a good dark imperial stout. By the time you get to the end and tie everything together the motivations and the stories are very well thought out.
Fun fact about the SR-71, it was designed purely to fly at mach 3, the plates had visible gaps when it was cold, and it would leak a VERY expensive and VERY custom fuel before it got warm enough for the plates to expand enough to seal up
They don't really go over this in the parody, but in Hellsing if people are bitten by a vampire they turn into one if they're a virgin, if they're not a virgin, they turn into a ghoul.
you have to remember that goodyear only has 4 blimps in total as well, they're super rare to see unless you're in a specific area. Also those are like the only blimps in existence now (for the most part) so basically nowhere ever sees blimps anymore

My man went out serving a literal banger..
This abridged still cracks me up to this day 😂
I feel like chelzor should adopt the "calamity" nickname for her mammaries. Not trying to be weird but it just seems fitting for "the destroyer"
Hahaha, Chelzor the Calamity (Mammaries)
The Calamammaries
39:34
"Everyone knows the best way to learn is under intense lofe threatening danger!"-Peter B. Parker, into the spider-verse.
@26:57-ish blimps are fairly rare in modern aviation, whereas zeppelins haven't been a thing since the Hindenburg exploded and passenger planes filled that void with a vengeance.
even TFS hates Rip Van Winkle and regret writing her that way
Why?! It’s a blast, and hilarious!😂
@@jonashartman3059 because it's low-effort and boring.
I remember I wanted 2 years for the actual last two episodes Hellsing ultimate Damn good show 🎃🤘🎃
46:15 Ah, the smell of hot metal. I love that smell, though often leaves me concerned when near electronics and I catch a whiff of it.
considering he mentions (paraphrasing) "wrecking the queen like Diana" this can't be any sooner than 1997
1999, actually.
though you're more accurate, my point still stands
15:02 The mangaka literally wanted to draw a story about his random characters focusing on visuals which is how you get 40s Germans, vampires, and the church
Dude just wanted to draw cool panels and built a story around it which is one of the reasons the abridged works so well
For anyone wondering why there's a little bit of jank to the audio for a minute it's because they had to remove an AC/DCSong
I can see why you and Ser Integra get along. 😂🤣
To answer the "why zeppelins?!" bit - to be completely fair, the Hindenburg only went kaboom because it was full of hydrogen. Thing is, the Hindenburg wasn't _supposed_ to have hydrogen, it was designed for *helium.*
But this was 1937, Hitler was doing Hitler things, and the US (which was essentially the only country at the time that had spare helium to export) wasn't exporting helium to Germany (because Hitler was doing too many Hitler things). So they used hydrogen, and, well, kaboom.
Point is, Maxwell knows better, and got helium... Probably.
Also we aren't running out of helium - that's a myth
@askylibrarianoftheoceans4102 this is only *kinda* true.
I talk to my neice the same way I talk to grown ass adults, and I've been that way since she was a baby.
HOORAH, more Hellsing Ultimate Abridged, freaking love this series
Anderson's speech is my favorite part of episode 5. It's so fucking iconic.
"talk to me like I'm 5"
"Oh my god! Where are your parents?"
I love how godamn genre savvy you are Chelz.
Hellsing takes place during the 1990's last I checked. This was based off Integra being born in 1977 and her being in her 20's during the show.
Specifically, 1999.
the cat boy? He's Warrant Officer Schrodinger.
the sound in episode 4 sounding muted for a period is a copyright issue with ACDC and their song Shoot To Thrill
also, despite how meek and pathetic Penwood seemed, both in the original and the abridged. Both cases he went out like a godamned badass.
25:08 oh dang all nonbasic lands are mountains now
I understood that referencr 👈😀
30:47 fun fact, Major is reciting the lyrics to the song
I’d like someone to do a reaction to the Major’s speech in the actual show. It’s such a great speech for a villain and the voice acting is superb.
London Bridge from the song in no longer in London some dude bought it and brought it over piece by piece to the Arizona in the US.
Rip Van Winkle - talks like a social justice warrior, is literally a not-see
Just so we're clear, Warrant Officer Schrödinger (the catboy in the Hitler Jugend uniform) represents Schrödinger's Cat, the subject of a thought experiment that describes quantum physics. The real-life Erwin Schrödinger is the person who proposed the experiment, and then various physicists, including Einstein, tossed the idea around, notably proposing ever-more convoluted ways of destroying the cat during the experiment. I think Einstein suggested dynamite.
"she blew up his Christmas present" .. No, I think it's more like his Christmas present blew up their navy vessel
The music and scripting for these two episodes...so good.
Integra was born in 1977 in the manga and she says in the anime that shes 22, so im pretty sure this takes place in 1999.
41:53 Well, kinda like that; only with less symbolism and more... well... you get it.
18:04 Based on this line, we can deduce thar the abridged version happened around 2007.
The anime, however, took place in 1999ish.
Im glad other people are finding this series. It is one abridged I think that should be seen more often
"what is the last thing you thought you'd see in the night sky?" cause now they dead.
I first saw this show as a freshman in highschool that a friend showed me, I am now 25... worth every minute of waiting.
13:05 I believe its a joke referencing viagra instructions. “If an erection lasts more than 4 hours, contact your doctor”
10 years old fan made and still funnier than most if not all modern media
Deadpool and wolverine gets to this level and exceeds it at times imo.
Dont exagerate, we still have very good shows, hell, season 3 of vix machina is currently airing.
@Kebin13 he wasnt.
@brianjohnson5272 only people with an extremely narrow access to media would think this, which is ironic given the platform they are on.
@@brianjohnson5272 he was, animations, cartoons and animes are still some of the best media we get.
Living in the UK I have not once seen a blimp anywhere, on tv or at any point in my years growing up outside of films xD Hot air balloons for sure but not blimps, I think after WWII and the Hindenburg they pretty much fell out of favour.
Yes Schrödinger is a cat/boy and his power is that he is omnipresent
He both exists and doesn't exist in all times and all places, so long as he can observe himself
and as long as nobody else is observing him.
7:15 about 1997/1998 with modern events tossed in
25:30 oddly enough, the fix was beyond stupid, and we could make it almost impossible to do again even at the time
First major issue with Zeppelin Technology was, while moving through the air dust and stuff bounce off the shell causing a buildup of static.
Getting rid of wax coated thermite sheets in place of modern static resistant polymer sheets would pretty much work for that
Replacing everything with aluminum and polymer frames, and modern safety protocols would drastically reduce the weight, round off the sharp bits, and allow for more room between the bladders reducing chafing
And finally, even modern party balloons are more robust than the old bags, so I mean, some again, modern polymer nylon bags similar to the portable fire fighter 5000 gallon bags would probably work just fine.
The VA of Rip Van Winkle is a majorly talented professional voice actress and TFS hated how they used her talents.
Why did you look so excited when Walter asked who wanted daddy's belt? Chel....did you want daddy's belt? 🤨
you have to remember that goodyear only has 4 blimps in total as well, they're super rare to see unless you're in a specific area. Also those are like the only blimps in existence now (for the most part) so basically nowhere ever sees blimps anymore
Nice content overlay!
I know that kind of pattern from Vtuber Alicia (whom you reacted to before). I always liked it, it looks kind of like a topographical height map
yeah, they had to reupload this after stripping out the audio, retooling the audio track, and putting it back together.
unfortunately, the cracks showed.
Wow, at least someone from all reaction channels get the Schrodinger without too much hint
The Queen is voiced by the real VA for Zorin Blitz from the anime.
Maxwell says Alexander is using some sort of metaphor, but in fact Alexander is using a simile, because he uses the word "like" in his comparison.
Also, I remember hearing that T4S did the abridged for this series basically on a dare. No one thought it was possible to make the original material funny.
26:40 They don't really do airships in England. The blitz left more than physical scars.
Funnily enough I was doing the dishes at the end there and was drying a cast iron griddle.
And yeah, I smell the heat and metal.
That was a very, long way to tell someone to step a few feet away from you. Like a monolgue's worth. Lol
Gon is an amazing ad lib
"She's 22?!?"
She's been dealing with Alucard's obnoxious ass since she was like 10. Excuse her for having side effects from that.
You need to do FF7 Machinabridged also....You can do long reaction videos because they did compile their episodes into seasons for marathon viewing
Fun fact the zeplin music during the attack is called mars from the planetary suite
i mostly know it from a venture bros bit
"Mars, The Bringer of War", to be more precise
Also, you might realize it's the inspiration to a piece of music from a movie series with "War" in the title
There is a topographical map overlay on the video.
I couldn't help but wonder about that bs too
