I decided to try to record the most vintage accurate rigt I have in my house. My 50w Marshall JMP clone (Bass model) with Merren Audio Transformers, Mullard Blackburn XF-2 EL-34s, NOS filter caps, and a set of NOS, era correct preamp tubes. (Mullard I-61, Amperex Bugle Boy, and Telefunken. I used my Strymon El Capistan V2 in the FX Loop with some spring reverb only to represent a console style spring reverb in a studio. My Danocaster is a 60's replica loaded with a set of Black Country Pickups from Crazy Parts that are wound with wire from 1958. The Marshall 2061 CX 2x12 has a Celestion 70th Anniversary G12-H30 and a Celestion 20w Heritage Greenback (made in England) at the bottom and the greenback speaker was mic'd with a Sennheiser 609 about 10" away. This went straight into my Apollo Twin and into Logic. I added a post EQ to cut anything below 60htz.

Merren's transformers are as close to vintage Marshall as you can get. You sir are a man of taste and tone

Even the clean time is beautiful.
I've always wanted to try the Crazy parts pickups. I used their CAB plastics on my 77 strat.

@@altag1 Its an honest one. There are a few sets that haven't left, even though they aren't in a guitar

That's it. Any time someone says 'Marshall can't do good clean tone' I'm sending them here.

Waste of NOS pickup wire. Better sell the wire to slider. Sorry ;)
